Work Text:
It had been so long since the trio had seen each other, Adrien believed. He was excited to finally see them again after a whole 2 months. He had his mother, Emilie, convince his father, Gabriel, to let Chloe and Felix come over for a sleepover for Christmas, since Gabriel was busy that day. He was going to have to wait 15 minutes until it was 3:00, the time Felix and Chloe were supposed to arrive, and it felt like it was taking hours.
“Can we do something to pass the time?” Adrien asked his mother.
“What would you like to do?” Emilie asked.
“Hmmm…” Adrien said. “I wanna make Chloe and Felix some Christmas cards that they can take home!”
“That’s a great idea!” Emilie replied. “I’ll go get some paper and crayons.”
Adrien sat down at the kitchen table as Emilie got the stuff for the cards. It took a few minutes, and he was eager to finish the cards before the guests arrived. So, when Emilie arrived with the materials, Adrien took a piece of paper and began scribbling away.
“What are you drawing?” Emilie asked.
“A Christmas tree, presents, and the four of us!” Adrien replied.
“I don’t think you’ll have enough time for that.” Emilie suggested.
So, instead, Adrien made one big card for the both of them to share.

After what seemed to be the blink of an eye, Felix and Chloe arrived at the door, with Chloe’s butler, who was unloading luggage, and Amilie behind them. Excited, Adrien swung the door open to let them in.
The first thing that greeted Chloe and Felix was a card to the face. “I made a card for you two!” Adrien exclaimed.
“Adrikins, I love it!” Chloe took it from him and held it to her view, as Felix glimpsed from the side. “I’m gonna hang it on the wall of my bedroom.”
“It’s for both of you.” Adrien said to them.
“You can have it.” Felix told Chloe. Chloe gave it to her butler for safekeeping.
“I want it in a 24-karat frame!” She barked at the butler.
“Yes, Mademoiselle.” He replied, and off he went in his car, to do so.
Amelie made her way inside to greet her sister with a hug.
“I can’t stay for long, but I just neeeeeded a hug!” Amelie exclaimed.
“It’s good to see you, too, sister.” Emile replied, as she signaled for the kids to come inside.
“Colt’s just been a little rougher than usual, recently.” Amelie brought up. “So do you mind keeping Felix a few extra nights? I don’t want him to get hurt…”
“Of course.” Emilie said, looking away from her sister’s gaze.
After a moment of silence, Amelie spoke up.
“Anyway,” Amelie said, “I best be going. Bye!”
Emilie waved as her sister left, closed the doors, and turned to the kids.

“So, what would you like to do?” Emilie asked.
“I wanna do what Adrikins wants!” Chloe answered. She turned to Adrien.
“Make cookies for Santa and us.” Adrien replied.
“Cookies it is!” Amalie said. “What kind of cookies?”
“All of the kinds!” Chloe and Adrien answered at the same time. Emilie held back her laughter, and turned to Felix.
“What about you, Felix?” Emilie asked.
“I’m fine with whatever.” Felix answered, and he shrugged.
So, they went to the kitchen to make cookies from scratch. Adrien kept insisting that he should help with everything under the moon. But, Emilie drew the line at setting the timer for the oven because Adrien would always, somehow, burn anything and everything to black.
While the cookies baked, Adrien came up with all sorts of ideas for what to do that night. After the cookies came out, Adrien told everyone that they would eat some cookies and watch a movie to go with it.
Adrien hadn’t yet decided between Rudolph or The Polar Express, even though he had already watched both of them a countless amount of times that month. Felix wanted to watch the Polar Express, the first suggestion he had that night, so they all went with it.
Felix sat on the corner of the couch, with Emilie sitting next to him and Adrien. Chloe sat right next to Adrien, slightly leaning on him.
After the movie, Emilie revealed a surprise she had kept from them. She had convinced Gabriel to make them matching pajamas to wear on the night of Christmas Eve.
They were a bright red, with snowflakes on them. Adrien loved it, Chloe loved it, because she would match with Adrien (but definitely wouldn’t wear it if Adrien didn’t), and Felix seemed to like it enough.
Something Emilie hadn’t considered, now that they had put on the outfits, was that Felix and Adrien looked almost the exact same. Luckily, they were practically opposite in personality, so she could tell the difference between them enough.
Afterwards, the kids wanted to have dinner. So, Emilie made a Christmas Dinner while they listened to Christmas music, and talked.
“So,” Adrien turned to his friends, as Emilie made dinner. “What do you guys want for Christmas?”
“I wanna have fun,” Chloe responded. “with you, Adrikins!... Get lots of presents, too!”
“When I’m sad, I want to be happy again when I remember this.” Felix replied. “It’s going well, so far.”
“I can do that!” Adrien exclaimed.
“Dinner’s ready!” Emilie chimed in.
As the kids sat at the side table, with Adrien in the middle, Emilie placed food down in front of them, then sat down, herself, and sat at the end.
Both Adrien and Felix hadn’t been able to finish dinner, unlike Chloe and Emilie. So, they had some time to themselves to talk about whatever. After dinner, Adrien wanted to do one more thing.
“Do we have time for sing-alongs to Christmas songs?” Adrien asked, as Emilie washed the dishes.
“Maybe…” Emilie replied. “We did have dinner quite late. So maybe just a few songs, then you’ll have to go to bed.”
So, they did. Adrien and Emilie were the only ones to sing, and Chloe cheered them on as Felix watched in silence. But, he was smiling, at least.
After karaoke, Emilie insisted that they go to bed, as it was late out. So, they gathered their things for the night, after putting out milk and cookies for Santa.
Emilie had already prepared sleeping bags for them. Other than that, Felix had a stuffed bunny, Chloe had a teddy bear, and Adrien didn’t have one, surprisingly. Emilie left their room for them to get ready for bed.

Felix and Chloe came up with an idea together, to surprise Adrien when he came out of his bathroom. They immediately got to work, because they needed to work fast, to be able to finish before Adrien re-entered the room.
When Adrien did, he saw that Chloe and Felix had made a fort for them to sleep in, instead of sleeping bags. It was big enough for the three of them to fit in, composed of mismatched pillows and blankets. Immediately, Adrien was overjoyed, and gave them a group hug.
“You’d have to be a peasant to sleep on the floor like that!” Chloe said. “So we made this! 1000 times better, don’t you think, Adrikins?”
“Let go of me.” Felix told Adrien. So, he did.
“Yeah! I think it’s great!” Adrien replied. He went inside of the fort through a door resembling a hole, to see what it was like. It was pitch black and surprisingly warm. Something was missing, he knew, a Christmas feeling.
“We need a Christmas night-light!” Adrien called from inside.
Chloe ran to go get one.
In the meantime, Emilie went to check in on them, to tell them to go to bed. It had been a while, and she could still hear noises coming from Adrien’s room. When she went inside, she saw a giant fort, instead of them asleep, in front of her.
“What’s this?” Emilie asked.
“A fort!” Adrien answered. “Felix and Chloe made it for us to sleep in!”
“Wow! You did a great job, but if you’re going to sleep in there,” Emilie told them. “make sure there’s room for you to breathe. Maybe make a window?”
“Okay.” Adrien answered, and began doing so. By then, Chloe came back with a night-light shaped like Santa Claus that gave a bright green-like glow.
“I found one!” Chloe said, and she handed it to Adrien to put inside.
Emilie, just to make sure, checked the fort to make sure there was enough room for them to breathe. Seeing a few spaces that seemed to be makeshift windows, she smiled and said, “Good night, then.”
“Good night!” the kids said at the same time. So, she closed the door and turned the lights off, as the kids went into the fort.

They sat in silence for a few minutes, trying to go to sleep by closing their eyes really tight, even though they knew that’s not how it worked. Adrien was the first one to sit up.
“I’m not sleepy.” Adrien said.
Felix sat up as well. “I don’t sleep.”
“I need my beauty sleep for pictures, tomorrow.” Chloe said, annoyed, as she turned over in bed, wearing a sleep mask.
“Sorry.” Adrien said. “I just wanna see Santa!”
Felix thought for a moment, and came up with an idea.
“I could wake you up, around one.” Felix told them. “Sleep until then.”
“Deal.” Chloe replied, yawning. “Just him, though. Don’t wake me.”
Felix nodded in response. Within a few minutes, Adrien and Chloe were fast asleep. To occupy time, Felix read books he brought from home.

“Hey.” Felix shook Adrien awake. “Wake up. It’s not one yet, but I hear someone downstairs.”
Now, Adrien didn’t want to get up, since it was so dark, and he was tired. Just as he was about to go back to sleep, he heard a thump from downstairs that intrigued him. He sat up, and turned to Felix.
“C’mon.” Adrien whispered, and went outside of the fort. Felix followed him not long after.
When they left the fort, it was dark. Luckily they, especially Adrien, could see pretty well at night. Still, Felix took the lead, because Adrien was a little scared. They went down the first flight of stairs, still by the wall, and turned to see Santa.
He looked nothing like from the books and movies, Adrien decided. He wore a dark purple suit instead of a bright red, and he wore a grey face mask. He didn’t bear a sack, rather he had a cane. He didn’t have a beard, a hat, or even glasses, in fact he was bald, and he didn’t look very jolly or fat. Santa and the person before them couldn’t be any less alike. Adrien was very scared of him.
“...Santa?” Adrien asked.
Surprised, Santa turned to them, and shouted, “SON OF A-” Felix instinctually covered Adrien’s ears for the last part. When Felix let go, Santa began to explain himself to the pair.
“Ah, yes!” Santa agreed in a panic. “It is I!... Ho ho ho!”
“You don’t look like Santa.” Felix said, as he put his arm in front of Adrien, as a way to protect him, and forbid him from going closer.
“Nobody’s ever seen me!” Santa told him. “I mean, they just made a guess, and were very, very wrong.” He smiled awkwardly. “You two shouldn’t have seen me, either. Back to bed, with you two.”
“Okay…” Adrien responded, both disappointed and satisfied. “Bye, Santa.”
“Bye, Adrien.” Santa said. “Also, don’t tell a soul about me!”
“Okay.” Adrien replied, slightly smiling. So, he left. Felix looked at Santa with a frown for a moment, before turning and following Adrien from behind.

“Rise and shiiine!” Adrien announced. “Wake up!”
Chloe sat up, her hair somehow looking as if she styled it for hours.
“Let’s go wake up Mom!” Adrien said.
“No!” Felix and Chloe said at the same time.
“Why not?” Adrien asked them.
“It doesn’t seem like she’d hit us,” Felix muttered. “But I don’t wanna risk it!”
“What if she gets mad and leaves you and your Daddy?” Chloe asked.
“She wouldn’t do that!” Adrien argued. “I’ve done it before, woken her up.”
Before they could say another word, Adrien ran off to Emilie’s bedroom, still in pajamas, with Felix and Chloe running after him, close behind. When Adrien finally got to Emilie’s room, he swung the door open and said, “Merry Christmas!”
Emilie sat up in bed. “Good morning, Adrien.” she said. “Merry Christmas.”
She got up out of bed, and Felix and Chloe were slightly surprised with her reaction, even though they already both knew her well.
They went downstairs to open presents.
“We got presents, too?” Felix asked, reading a nametag addressed to him.
“Santa doesn’t forget about anyone!” Emilie said. “Who opens first?”
“Me!” Chloe answered immediately, as she began opening her present.
Inside was a pair of white sunglasses with black lenses. She smiled, put the pair on, and turned to Adrien.
“What do you think, Adrikins?” She asked him.
“I think it looks great!” Adrien replied, smiling, which made Chloe blush.
Felix opened his present next, and got a Thanos action figure. When he saw it, he mimicked snapping his fingers like Thanos did.
“He’s soo cool!” Felix said.
Adrien opened his last, and tore it open within seconds.
“A stuffie!” Adrien said. Not just any kind of stuffed animal, but a black cat with green eyes. “Now all three of us have stuffies! We’re matching.”
“Wait.” Chloe said. “Why only one present each? That’s nothing!”
“I write letters to Santa.” Emilie told them. “I ask him not to give my son too many presents every year, otherwise he wouldn’t be as grateful for them.”
“There’s stockings on the wall, too.” Felix told her. Indeed, there were five stockings, one for each of the kids, one for Emilie, and one for Gabriel. Gabriel’s didn’t have anything inside.
“Why doesn’t Father have anything in his stocking?” Adrien asked.
“I don’t know.” Emilie replied.
“Maybe Santa knows.” Felix said, frowning.
