Work Text:
Elliot smiled as he put hearts around Grian’s name in the day’s prayer journal page as he had prayed for his wellbeing, as the system had noticed they were "spacing out" a lot more than usual recently, to the point where they were beginning to think he might have a dissociative disorder.
No one said anything though, it’s not like they were medical experts, besides, it was probably just them projecting.
Or maybe it just so happened that Grian’s C-PTSD—something they had recently told them (well, specifically Kai, since he was the one fronting at the time) about came with really strong dissociative symptoms.
Yeah, that might be it, they were all just projecting.
Sure, Grian acted really off sometimes, but that didn't mean anything, even within his system stars behaved differently than usual sometimes–
He was broken out of his thoughts by the awareness of Sonart teasing him about Grian, as if he wasn't also into him.
To be fair, most of them were, and why wouldn't they be? After all, the handsome demiboy named Grian that was his friend (and hopefully boyfriend in the future) was funny and huggable (sometimes, when he was willing) and an awesome builder and just the definition of perfection alongside his—and Gust’s (and, legally speaking, the whole system’s)—husband, Jimmy, the only one who knew about their plurality, and Martyn, who he was pretty sure might be plural in some way given some things they'd mentioned in the past.
Either way, Elliot liked—no, loved—Grian.
Maybe he should—
No, they had all agreed that relationships should be agreed upon by the whole system and it already felt like a lot to ask about dating and then marrying Jimmy, not to mention he’d have to ask Jimmy about it as well, although the latter should be less of an issue as Jimmy was also dating Tango, but still.
Maybe he should ask about this at the weekly system meeting.
Gregory sighed, feeling like his life depended on it, which was weird, because they’d been through worse, it was now or never.
“Can I ask out Scott?”
There was a second of silence before…
“How did you manage to beat me to it!? I was going to ask the exact same thing!” Isaac said.
“You too?”
Annabelle and Nora seemed surprised by the three while Xelqua just smugly smirked.
“You already knew this would happen, didn't you?” Richard asked Xelqua.
“I looked through the discussion topics for the meeting yesterday, shouldn’t have left it there if you didn't want me to know. Also, we all know you can’t keep anything from me.”
After discussing it for a few minutes, they agreed to speak about it with Jimmy first, since he and Scott were married and their relationship with Mumbo and Scar was open, and then plan on asking them out.
Once he got the go ahead from both the rest of his system, with a lot of in-fighting on who would confess, and Jimmy, it was time to plan on how to confess to Grian.
The first step was deciding who would do it.
It had to be one from the group that wanted to date Grian, which narrowed it down to twenty-five possibilities. But there were still twenty stars (five of them didn't want to do it themselves), Elliot included, who wanted to be the one to confess to him.
In the end, they decided to first do a vote amongst the 31 of them to narrow it down to five options.
However, in the vote, it just so happened that everyone who didn't want to do it voted for Elliot, so now it was time to plan how to confess.
After getting the go ahead from Jimmy, Gregory, Richard and Isaac were struggling to come up with the perfect way to confess their feelings.
Definitely in a flower field with all types of flowers. After all, Scott loved colors and flowers, so that would be perfect.
“Maybe we could give them a letter? Just in case we dissociate too much, that does seem to be happening a lot lately.”
Isaac didn't really like Richard’s proposal, for xe suggested instead doing a slideshow.
“Yeah, no, we’re not doing that, like, who brings a computer to a flower field?”
“I was thinking of using our po—” Before Isaac finished his refutal to Gregory’s refusal, the other two yelled in disapproval.
In the end they decided to go with a letter that they would deliver on Thursday.
Anabelle woke up to a message from Scott asking to meet up at a cafe in the neutral hub on Wednesday and, after mentally checking in with the others, she agreed with the condition that she would not be fronting for that.
Romeo was elated upon receiving Grian’s response.
They might be getting to date Grian.
Holy shit, they were going to confess the feelings of most of them to Grian.
This had to be perfect, Grian deserved that and more.
Upon entering the cafe, Richard, who had been the one selected to go between the three that wanted to, was greeted by the smell of sweet, sweet pastries mixing with the earthy and smoky smell of coffee.
After scanning the room for a bit, he found his handsome friend who they were supposed to meet up with and walked up to him.
“Hey Scott!”
“Hey Scott!”
Elliot froze at Grian’s words, all the courage leaving him as he felt himself start to fade away from front.
Eventually, Julius replaced him and said hi back.
“Are you okay? You spaced out for a sec.”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Don’t worry.” Julius summoned all the courage he could before continuing, “I really, really like you.”
There was silence for a bit and Julius could feel and hear the pounding of his and his system’s heart before Grian mumbled something, their face slightly red.
“What was that? Sorry, I couldn't hear you.”
“I like you too!” Grian turned away his face, which was now fully red.
It was now or never.
“Do you want to go out with me?”
When Richard heard Scott’s question, his answer was an immediate yes accompanied with a smile.
“You know, I was… I was kinda going to ask you the same tomorrow, even wrote a letter and all.” Scott laughed a bit and Richard felt so happy he felt the urge to move. And so he did.
Isaac woke up the next day (was it the next day?) to a message from Jimmy congratulating him on getting together with Scott, causing xir to smile.
