Chapter Text

It's Aca-initiation night, various a cappella groups gathered at the Barden University courtyard to bring in the new and returning members. The Barden Bellas arrived later on, the group scattered and mingled with other people in the area. While Beca in particular stood far away from everyone, until Jesse came up to her with a drink in his hand.

"Hey, you made it!" He said in a drunken yet steady voice before taking a sip of his drink.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world" Beca replied along with a sarcastic tone, an unsure smile crossing her face as she looked around the courtyard.

Jesse nods, "Can I get you a drink?" He blurted out with a mischievous smirk planted on his lips.

Beca agrees, slowly becoming fond of his presence. Jesse headed back to the crowded area, making his way on to the automatic beer dispenser. He comes back with two cups full of beer, handing one over to Beca as she willingly takes it.

They conversed for a long time, which caught the attention of Aubrey... She was talking to another Bella before her eyes darted towards Beca, who was at this point unbelievably drunk after drinking a full singular cup. Aubrey's head partially tilted at the interaction of the two, curiosity- and something else appearing across her face.

She dismisses Stacie whom she was talking to and began eyeing Jesse and Beca. The two of them were too engaged in their conversation to even notice if anyone was staring at them. It was very unlikely for a Treblemaker and a Bella to hit it off like this- even if it was mutual or not.

Jesse decided to risk it and began flirting with Beca, touching her arm every now and then, his voice shifting to a flirtatious tone. Aubrey, who was watching them the entire time catches the brief switch and her eyes darkened.

She despised the Treblemakers, not just hate, pure enviness. They were always cocky and self-centered and she assumed Jesse is just like that. Eventually, she stormed over towards them, Beca catching a glimpse of her.

"What do you two think you're doing?" Her voice came in sharp as she stood between the two her arms crossed as she raised a brow, waiting for one of them to speak up.

"We were talking." Beca replied, her voice coming out hoarse from drinking.

"Does talking include being touchy?" She shoots Jesse a warning glare.

Beca scoffs, a smug smirk appearing on her face.

The first time Aubrey and her met was at the Activities Fair, she and Chloe were attempting to get people to join the club despite the incident at the ICCAs last year. Aubrey clearly didn't like her from the moment they interacted with eachother, Beca was uninterested and called a cappella lame which angered Aubrey at the time. But, miraculously Chloe managed to convince her anyway even if Aubrey was against it.

"Why, are you jealous Posen?" Beca asked, that smug annoying smirk growing.

Aubrey freezes, taken aback from her response. She let out a bitter scoff, rolling her eyes. "You wish Mitchell, why would I be jealous when you're talking to a Treblemaker."

She turns her head over to Jesse. "Can you give us a moment." It wasn't a question, it was a demand. Jesse sighed, disappointment crossing his face but he knew better than to argue with her, he glanced at Beca with a small, polite smile on his face as he walked away.

"What the hell was that for?" Beca ran her tongue against her cheek, raising a brow at Aubrey.

She was clearly pissed that she made Jesse leave, since she was actually starting to enjoy his presence even if he was being a try hard.

Aubrey waved a dismissive hand at Beca before speaking up. "You took an oath, and if you don't abide by it you're out of the group." Aubrey stated.

"We were just talking-" Aubrey interuppted, "Talking doesn't need to involve having to be that close to one another."

Beca scoffed, her frustation building up. "Stop hovering over me, I know you hate the Trebles but that significantly doesn't mean they're all bad. Jesse is actually less of an asshole than Bumper is."

Aubrey's eyes narrowed, before speaking up "Don't go near Jesse again, that's a demand." She said, before finally walking away. Beca glanced at Aubrey, before groaning and pinching the bridge of her nose. The night passes, Aubrey becoming more cautious of Beca which made her irritated.

The next morning at the first day of rehearsals, the Bellas are sat in rows of chairs angled towards Aubrey and Chloe. Beca was sat at the back row, Aubrey glancing at her every now and then before she began the meeting.

"As you can see, Kori is not here, last night she was Trebleboned, she has been disinvited from the Bellas." She said while grabbing the empty chair in the front row and set it on the side.

"That oath was serious?" Beca asked, letting out a scoff.

"Dixie chicks serious. You can fool around with whoever you want to just not a Treble." Aubrey said, in which Beca just lightly sighed. She didn't want to escalate the problem any further, and knowing she would have back talked Aubrey, she stayed silent.

Rehearsals surprisingly went smooth, but also overwhelming for Aubrey. She dismissed everyone, except for Beca.

"Beca, a word" She gestured for her to come closer.

Beca reluctantly walked towards Aubrey, her bag slung over her shoulders. "What's up?"

"As much as I hate your attitude, you're a really good singer." Aubrey sighed, hating to admit it.

"I'm still gonna need you to take off those ear monstrosities out for the Fall Mixer."

"You really don't like me, do you?" Beca said with that smug smirk that Aubrey hated.

Aubrey slighlty tilts her head, "I don't like your attitude."

"You don't even know me."

"I know you have a toner, for Jesse" Aubrey's irritation began to grow, especially with that stupid smile.

"A what?" Beca let out a bitter chuckle.

Aubrey's eyes narrowed at the snicker, "A toner, a musical boner, I saw it at hood night, it's distracting and it very much distracted me."

"See, that's not a thing. Besides I like girls." Beca blurted out.

Aubrey paused, *"Did Beca just come out to me?"* she thought.

Her frustration falters, which Beca noticed and made her grin wider.

"What? I'm not ashamed." She let out a snicker.

Before Aubrey could speak up, Beca cut her off.

"So don't get jealous sweetheart. You're an asshole, but you're also hot so-" Beca shrugged, that playful smug look still on her face as she walked out the room.

Aubrey stood frozen for a minute, before composing herself and beginning to clean up the area for tomorrow. She hated how Beca was so annoying and complicated, but still so interesting and different at the same time.

She was heading back to her dorm, her thoughts still fixated on Beca. As soon as she entered, she groaned and plopped down onto her bed as she threw her bag onto the side.

The next morning, Aubrey arrived earlier than the others to prep up the room. She was peacefully propping up the stuff, until she heard a soft thud behind her.

She swings around, her eyes landing on Beca who was standing beside the double door frame. Her hip was leaned against it while her arms are crossed. She wore this fitted black tanktop that hugged her body, gray sweatpants, sneakers, her bag was slung over her shoulder, and her hair was clamped up which exposed more of her skin. Aubrey's eyes darted up and down at her body, before shaking her head and clearing her throat.

"Why the hell are you so early?" Aubrey asked, raising a brow as she attempted to maintain her composure.

Beca caught Aubrey's eyes glancing at her body, letting out a small laugh.

"Like what you're seeing? Anyways, i'm here 'cause I needed to talk to you." She shut the door behind her, a soft thud echoing through the room.

Aubrey vaguely tilted her head, "How do you know that i'd be here this early?"

"Chloe, she's very easy to persuade." She chuckled lightly, which made Aubrey's heart- flutter?

*"Get it together Posen."* She thought to herself, before responding.

"Okay, what do you need to talk to me about?" She asked, crossing her arms.

"It's about the set-" Before Beca could finish, Aubrey cut her off and rolled her eyes.

"For the last time, we're not changing the set." She shot back.

"Aubrey there are zero songs from the century, do you expect this to actually get us to the ICCAs?" Beca sighed, resting one hand on the strap of her bag.

"We don't stray from tradition, now quit it. Be useful and help me set up instead of complaining." Aubrey began propping up the area.

Beca, who was visibly frustrated and tossed her bag to the side and involuntarily assisted. Aubrey occasionally glimpsing at Beca's cleavage, which she tried to stop but it was basically instinctive now. Beca was still pissed off to even notice that Aubrey was looking.

Eventually, the Bellas began arriving and Aubrey straightened up. She faintly shook her head and forced herself to look away.

Practice began, and Aubrey every now and then gazed at Beca. Even if the girl was frustrating, she had this complexion which attracted her. Luckily, the day passes by quickly and everybody began to pack up.
