Chapter Text
“I don’t get it… what did I do wrong?”
As White Lily Cookie withered away, Pure Vanilla was left with oh so many questions. Why did she leave me like this? Why couldn’t I tell her my feelings, even at her own death? Why couldn’t I just save her? And so on. It was as though the Ancient was going through the first stage of grief: Denial.
This couldn’t possibly be real, right? It was probably a bad dream, where the cookie would just wake up in a haze, find White Lily in the library and then he could just rant to her. It was always like that. She was always safe. Always there.
Unfortunately for Pure Vanilla, this was a nightmare come true. White Lily was really dead. Except, he did not dare to accept that. If only he could rewind the moment, see her face in real life one last time. Like a frame frozen in time.
Everything feels numb. He doesn't know why. White lily is right here, she's just waiting to surprise him, right? She probably came up with ground breaking research, to bring back all of their fallen, loved ones.
Pure Vanilla soon picked up the single lily left behind, desperate to preserve it. He wanted it too, frozen in time so when White Lily came back, then she would’ve seen the beauty of their victory against Dark Enchantress.
The rest of the ancient group stared at the empty spot where White Lily once stood. They stared with empty eyes. They, too, couldn’t believe that their fifth friend was gone. Permanently. White Lily Cookie had an impact on all her friends, but the one who was hit the most was Pure Vanilla Cookie.
They soon went back to their respective kingdoms, each ancient weary, and exhausted. Thankfully none of their kingdoms were in shambles at all. Pure Vanilla went back to his room in the kingdom, crashing into the soft mattress and falling asleep. But, even in his dreams, he could not catch a break.
Some nights, he would wake up screaming. Some nights, he would wake up in a cold sweat. It was as if the reality was too much to bear. As if the absence of White Lily was too much for the poor ancient. She meant so much to him, maybe even one of the only cookies who could understand him…
