Suitcase stepped into Knife's room; there were posters stuck up all over the walls, random things & trash collected in corners of the room, and his bed looked as if it hadn't been made in weeks. She didn't really mind, but she thought that Knife would've at least cleaned up a little... Whatever, it was nice of him to offer, beggars can't be choosers, I guess. The sound of Knife's mechanical toothbrush filled the room (I'm guessing you know what that is, but if you don't it's basically just a toothbrush with a motor) his bathroom door was creaked open slightly, she could see him through the corner of her eye. He spit into the sink, and the motor sound stopped.
"Hey, Suitcase!' Knife exclaimed, trying not to sound too excited, but he was really excited, and a little nervous. A lot nervous...
'Hey!" She reciprocated.
Knife opened up the bathroom door and shut off the light. The (digital) clock on his nightstand read that it was 10:00 PM. Shit had it really gotten that late? He started to walk over to the far side of his bed (the right side if anyone was wondering) and hastily climbed up into it. He felt really fucking awkward doing this, even though he had known her for a long time. He didn't know why he was so nervous.
Suitcase reciprocated his gesture, hesitantly crawling in, she looked over to him for reassurance, habitually looking to make sure what she was doing was okay. She was really fucking nervous too, for whatever reason. After a few minutes, they had both settled in. Knife was scrolling on his phone, but he turned off the lamp on his nightstand just in case Suitcase wanted to sleep. She had brought her phone, but she didn't feel like using it. She laid on her back because that was the only option that didn't look stupid, also that's what Knife was doing. The bed smelled a lot like him (no, really!??) which was actually kind of nice. He smelled like a mix of Old Spice deodorant and lightly applied Axe body spray. (hey look, if Walmart can exist in this universe, so can Axe body spray, regrettably) Soon she drifted to sleep, Knife eventually set his phone down and did the same.
...
Suitcase woke up. She was in Knife's bed still; her eyes drifted over to the right, Knife wasn't there. That's weird... She thought. Maybe he had gone to the bathroom? Or went to grab water? She looked to her left; she sat up to see if there was any light protruding from under the bathroom door, there wasn't. He must not be in there, unless he has the lights off, that'd be weird though. Who goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night without the lights on? Suddenly, she heard a sound, a weird creaking sound accompanied by a scraping noise. Suitcase shivered.
"Knife? Is that you?"
Suitcase didn't get a verbal answer to her question; the strange noise stopped. A huge fucking Skinwalker-like creature jumped up onto the bed, slicing at her face. Pain surged through her as huge white claws raked across her body. She felt her straps rip and tear, and then they snapped. She let out a loud scream as the creature continued mauling her. The talon-like claws on the creature's forearms sliced into her, penetrating her front half. She continued to scream; tears ran down her face.
Knife opened his eyes, he heard Suitcase whimpering and felt her lightly wriggled against him. Knife was never a heavy sleeper; he would wake up at the slightest creak. He sat up and looked over at Suitcase. Her cries got louder and her body went limp. Knife felt a twinge of worry; he contemplated his next action.
Suitcase was muttering something under her breath; Knife couldn't quite hear what she was saying. She began to full on sob, her whispering turned into loud wails.
Knife gently put his hand to her side, not really knowing what to do. Was she having a nightmare? Suitcase recoiled at his touch.
"Hey, hey, Suitcase, wake up." He whispered. His twinge of worry turned into alarm. He gently shook her, not wanting to hurt her.
He continued to attempt to wake her up for a few more minutes; he wasn't doing very well. An idea came into his mind; it wasn't very in character for his 'jerk' facade that he's held up for years, but maybe it'd be fine. Knife laid down on his side, it was a pretty awkward position, but he was somewhat balanced. He gingerly reached his arm over to the far side of Suitcase and gently reeled her close to his body. He grabbed the covers up (Suitcase had previously kicked them off) and wrapped them around her. He continued to hug her and her cries subsided, she was still squirming against him, but she had settled down a little bit. Knife was apprehensive about what she'd say when she woke up to him holding on to her like that, but he would deal with that when it came.
Suitcase's vision had gone completely black, even after realizing that everything that she had just experienced was fake, her heart raced and she hyperventilated. She could still see the huge fucking Skinwalker, huddled over her, clawing and digging into her, but thankfully it started to go fuzzy after a minute. The once unbearable pain that surged through her body had transformed into slight tingling sensations everywhere she could feel. She also felt something else, something gently gripping on to her. Eventually, reality flooded through her. Her surroundings slowly faded in; she was laying on her back staring at the ceiling. She realized that the 'something else' was Knife's arm. He was gently holding her close. Suitcase looked over to Knife, to her surprise he was awake. His expression contained some genuine concern, something she hadn't seen from him in a while. She knew that he had a soft side, but not to this extent. His eyes were sympathetic. He was also the first to break the silence.
"Hey, you, okay?" He asked with a worried demeanor lingering in his voice.
"Y-yeah." Suitcase replied shakily, realizing that she wasn't quite done crying. She felt a strong wave of relief as her mind remembered that the traumatic events of her nightmare were just her imagination. Knife's eyes relaxed at her response. He felt Suitcase snuggle in a little closer to him. Relieved that she reciprocated, he hugged her even tighter, not too much though, he really didn't want to hurt her. Suitcase closed her eyes and relaxed, Knife did the same.
