Summary
Semi Eita spent three years building himself into Shiratorizawa’s future starting setter.
Then Shirabu Kenjirō took the position instead.
It should have been easy to hate him. Easier, at least, if Shirabu had been arrogant about it. If he’d treated victory like something earned cleanly instead of something heavy enough to carry carefully. But Shirabu plays volleyball the way Shiratorizawa demands: controlled, precise, stable. The team wins more with him on the court.
Semi knows this.
That’s the problem.
As Nationals approaches, resentment twists into something far more dangerous. Long practices bleed into late-night conversations. Arguments become confessions without meaning to. Every match forces them closer together while neither is willing to admit how deeply the other has rooted himself beneath their skin.
Because volleyball has always been the only language either of them understood fluently.
And somewhere between competition, jealousy, exhaustion, and the unbearable pressure of being seen too clearly, Semi and Shirabu begin to realize there is a very thin line between understanding someone and loving them.
