   Summary

   First chapter set 6 years before Force Awakens. Due to unsavoury circumstances, Rey awakens to the Force on the day Ben would have turned. She draws from the dark side so violently that she is found by the one person who should have never found her.

   Rey couldn’t stop. Didn’t want to stop. The power pouring through her felt terrible. And wonderful.
   The entire structure groaned around her. Then it all stopped, and Rey collapsed forward onto shaking hands. Smoke drifted through the ruined room. Bodies lay scattered across the floor, twisted and charred beyond recognition. One still smouldered.
   Rey stared numbly at the destruction. She did this, she realised. The thought should have horrified her. Instead, it made her feel, for the first time in her life, powerful.
