The Dawn Will Rise

Summary:

As the sun approaches, the shadows of the night die out and the Inpherno becomes illuminated.

Banland’s head detective, Lugar Gun, happens to find a piece of the Silver Shadow’s cloak on the ground. For a case with no leads previously, this is major. How will she and the vigilante interact as this case is solved?

Shuriken fucked up. Too caught up in not getting absolutely clobbered by Banhammer, he didn’t notice how his cloak was slowly falling apart. A piece fell off and by the time he noticed it was too late to do anything. How will he and the leading detective interact as he tries to fix his mistakes?

Chapter Text

She shot up in her bed as the Banlands’ alarms blared throughout the entire prison. Including in the on-site housing. Well, she was unfortunately one of the ones who really had to be at the site of a crime. So, she put on nothing but her utility belt over her tank top and shorts and ran out in flip flops. Don’t blame her, time was of the essence!

And sure enough, there was a fight going on. Banhammer was, of course, the star of the show, if you will. Another star guard, Flaming Halberd, was swinging when Banhammer was taking time catching up. Respectfully, that man was quite a bit slow in his heavy armor. Especially against their current enemy.

The Silver Shadow.

She was quick to take a camera out of its pocket and begin rapidly snapping photos of one of the Inpherno’s most wanted. Could she exactly see what she was photographing? Hah, not at all. But in one of those frames could be something big. Hell, it could be something that gives their entire identity away.

She knew that it would most likely be absolutely nothing.

And, as usual, the Silver Shadow escaped. Hell, they even got one of their kunais lodged into the joint of Banhammer's armor. The warden was extremely furious at this, throwing a tantrum almost in the manner of a toddler.

She held back laughter, instead taking out a blacklight and searching the area for any kind of fingerprints left by that vigilante. As always, none appeared anywhere. They were careful to always wear gloves. She couldn’t help but let out a frustrated noise. No matter what they did, they couldn’t even get a lead on this guy!

Then large stomping came from behind her. Sure enough, there was the demi-deity. She’d be lying if she said he didn’t intimidate her. The other guard began bringing in the bundle of tied up criminals left on their doorstep.

“I’m assuming you’re wanting thi-“

His fingers reached for the small knife. She was quick to protest.

“Stop.”

His fingers could disrupt possible evidence. She took out a small cloth and plucked out the kunai herself, setting it in a small ziplock bag.

“This could be useful for evidence but I’m not too sure. Earlier findings confirmed that these were an artificial gear. The only use I could really see is if there are fingerprints on it but I doubt th-“

“Yeah, yeah, yeah! You do your little science thing and we have more of a chance of catching that little pest. Give me the report later. I have a golf game to get to!”

She waited until he was out of sight to roll her eyes. Swords above, he was really fucking annoying sometimes. Then again, that’s what happens when you're told that you are above others for your entire life. Sometimes she doubted if he ever even glanced at her findings.

She was lost in her thoughts until a hand settled on her shoulder. At least it was a familiar face, an Inphernal with deep blue horns that curved back and out. Her name was knife and they were the one of the janitors here. She was also from Blackrock, one of the few that were, so they bonded over that.

“Lugar, I was just cleaning up and found something I think you might want.”

And there, clutched in their rubber glove, was a small piece of black fabric with circular green patterns.

A piece of the Silver Shadow’s cloak.

“Here.”

She was quick to pull out a bag for her to put the evidence in. They understood and did so. A grin spread across her face.

“Hah, this is huge! I-I would seriously love to talk more but I need to get this into the lab! Like right now!”

“Don’t worry, I understand.”

With that she was running into the dull, grey, concrete building that made up the Banland’s Detective Department. She quickly put both of the items onto a counter. Four cotton swabs. A cup of distilled water.

First, she would dip a swab in water and collect any DNA on the object and then she would go back over it with the dry swab just to catch any extra cells. She did so, swiping all across the handle of the kunai and across the entirety of the ripped fabric. While she didn’t expect much from the swab of the kunai, she still put both away to analyze tomorrow.

However, by tomorrow she really meant in like 5 hours. It was very, very late. So with that, she got back to her room, threw off her utility belt, and basically passed out.

She was unaware of the panic of a certain pink-horned vigilante.
