Chapter Text
Me and kungami were good friends I never thought much of our friendship I always though that we were just god pals.. Just friends, and that’s what will always be. But this is bluelock you never know whats going to happen to your friend but I didn’t realize how much I would need him once he as gone, but it was already to late
After kumgami locked off he’s been different, more dissent tried to hangout with him lock we always did, but he just told me off
“I don’t know why you try so much” he’ll say
“...I didn’t realize how annoying you were” and he just walks away, as if our friendship never met anything
It hurt, I wished things when back to normal
Every time I saw him in the halls, it felt like I was mourning someone who was still alive not because he was different but because I still remembered the version of him that used to smile at me like I mattered.
Now, all I got were cold stares and silence.
But Still, I kept trying… Maybe it was pathetic. Maybe that’s what he thought every time I followed after him after training, talking even when he barely answered.
But I couldn’t stop.
Not when a part of me still hoped he’d come back.
“Kunigami, wait….”
He sighed the second I grabbed his sleeve, already sounding annoyed.
“What now?”
The irritation in his voice stung more than I wanted to admit.
“You’ve been avoiding me for weeks,” I said quietly. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No.”
“Then why are you acting like this?”
He pulled his arm away from me.
“I don’t know why you keep trying so hard.”
There it was again.
That same cold look.
Like talking to me was exhausting.
“Because I miss you!” I snapped before I could stop myself.
The hallway went silent.
His expression froze.
And for the first time in weeks… he actually looked at me.
Not through me.
At me.
“I miss my best friend,” I whispered, my voice shaking. “But every time I try to talk to you, you act like I’m annoying.”
His jaw tightened.
“You wouldn’t understand.”
“Then explain it to me!”
“You think I wanted this?” he shot back suddenly.
The anger in his voice startled me.
“I had to change.”
“Why?”
“Because being weak gets you destroyed in Blue Lock.”
I stared at him.
“And caring about people makes you weak now?”
The second the words left my mouth, something in his expression cracked.
For just a moment, the cold mask disappeared.
He looked tired.
Tired and hurt and angry all at once.
“You’re the reason this is hard,” he said quietly.
My breath caught.
“What…?”
Kunigami looked away, clenching his fists.
“If I let myself stay close to you…” he muttered, “I won’t be able to become the person I need to be.”
The ache in my chest only got worse.
Because underneath all the distance, all the cruelty, all the pushing away—
he still cared.
And somehow that hurt even more.
