Izuku always had the feeling he wasn't like the others around him. He was different. Something else.
His mother always reminded him of this reality.
Until he was 4 you could say he had a perfect and normal life. His mother and father cared about him. They always said he was going to get a perfect Quirk, and he would be able to do amazing things. He dreamed about becoming a hero, just like all Might himself. He was really excited about his 4th birthday and finally getting his own Quirk. He'd even thought long about what it could be. ,,Maybe I can let things float, just like Mom, or even breathe fire like Dad. I hope I'm gonna get a mix. Then I could control fire." But it never came as he thought
A few days after his 4th birthday he got really sick. He had a high fever and his whole body Hurt.
After a while Inko and Hisashi chose to go to a hospital they tried everything they could but nothing worked to help reduce the suffering of their own child.
When they arrived at the hospital and laid Izuku in a hospital bed the nurse made a quick checkup on him to hopefully find out what was wrong with him.
After some minutes of tense silence in the room, the nurse spoke up,, You don't need to worry. Luckily, he just has a rough Quirk awakening"
Both relaxed for a moment before Inko asks,, How long is it gonna take and what kind of Quirk could it be that's causing such an awakening?" She asked worried
,, Until now it looks like a mutation Quirk..." Inko stopped breathing ,,it's probably an avian Quirk. But you need to be patient until it develops." With those words, the nurse left the shocked parents behind.
The atmosphere in the room was thick. No one was talking. The only sound was Izuku's harsh and hurtful breathing and the machine he was connected to.
The first to speak up was Hisashi ,,Inko please be honest. ...did you betray me?"
She locked him in the eyes and said with determination, "No, I never have and I never would betray you with someone"
,,I really want to believe you but neither in your nor in my family are any bird mutations. What are the possibilities of a random genetic mutation that's so strong to turn our boy into an avian?"
,,I'm sure that we are gonna find an explanation"
They fell into a silence again both with their own thoughts some good for Izuku and some that are gonna destroy his bright future.

Some hours later, Izuku starts to move uncomfortably in his sleep. It looks like his pain got worse. They called a nurse
"We need to turn him around so his wings can break through the skin" the moment they turned him around bloody stains appeared on his back and small stubble pressed against his skin. Izuku screamed in pain, the moment the wings broke through the skin. There were bony appendages with soft down covered in a bloody mess. They where really small and unsightly.
At the end of his spine was also a stubble sticking out but luckily less bloody.
The nurse started cleaning up the blood and sweat from Izuku's body. Izuku came to a calm sleep without knowing what had just happened to him.
No one saw it but in the background, Inko was standing with a disgusted look on her face.

The moment Izuku woke up, Hisashi walked over to him. With concern he asked ,,How are you feeling" while Inko just stayed in the background
,,I... everything hurts what h-happened?"
,, You got your Quirk and it hurt your body. But now you're gonna feel better"
,,I finally got my Quirk? What is it? Tell me please"
,, It's a great Quirk. You've got wings and a tail. You may be able to fly"
,,Mom did you hear that I'm gonna fly"
She didn't answer ,,Mom, are you ok?"
,,Inko, what's wrong?" Hisashi looked at her concerned then she left the room without saying anything. ,,Wait. Inko!" Hisashi followed her and left Izuku confused and scared in the room
Izuku whispered ,, What did I do wrong?"

He never knew what his parents did outside but the whole 2 days they needed to stay at the hospital, Inko didn't say more than a few words and she wasn't with him in the room just his dad stayed at his side.
When he finally got home he needed to get used to his new appendages he couldn't sleep on his back anymore and his balance wasn't the same. His wings got a little bit bigger but they just had down feathers like a chick.
His mother still didn't talk to him even at home. She even avoided him.
Almost a year later, Izuku got used to his wings and tail. Both grew feathers that have a beautiful grayish blue on the wings with some white accents and the tail feathers got a beautiful red tone. Surprisingly his tail feathers didn't grow like bird ones but longer. He has a few long feathers that are now growing long enough to reach his knees. His small wings already had a wing span of 1,50m and are really big for his small body.
After his feathers grew in and showed his wing colors he got a name for his quirk. It's called the black redstart bird because its wings and tail collars were the same.
He also found new aspects of his Quirk. he could do bird noises and he even used them to communicate his feelings. Of course, no one else understood him but he still used small sounds out of reflex. At the same time, he had the desire to collect shiny things. His mother wasn't impressed by his bird-like instincts and always made comments that he was just like an animal and he was useless.
His body had undergone other changes as well, not just the instincts and wings.
He got random placed feathers in his Hair and even smaller ones at the edge of his eyes.
His nails grew much faster and they were sharper and more stable. But he never could really try them out because his mother cut them off before they were long enough. Even his hair grew faster and healthier. But Izuku liked his longer locks and kept them on the little bit longer side but still just to his shoulders.
Sadly his best friend Kacchan also stopped talking to Izuku. Before his awakening the always said they were gonna be heroes together but now Kacchan says that Izuku's quirk isn't good for being a hero. He thought Izuku's quirk was too weak and he was just too small and weak. Even his teachers in the kindergarten made comments like ,, too weak and too adorable to be a hero"
Izuku didn't understand what his looks had to do with being a hero. And why do they say his Quirk is week he can do many things with it. He's faster and can fight with his nails. He could even find villains or civilians with his heightened senses. And Izuku is good with analyzing quirks because he's so interested in them an his hobby is to write notes about heroes and there Quirks and weaknesses. So he could be a good and useful hero.

When Izuku got into school the actions of his teachers and classmates got bolder with him. The students tutsched his tail and wings without consent and the teacher got much closer than they should have, but of course izuku dosn't think anything bad about it. Its just some affection he doesn't get from his mom.
When Izuku was 8, that one teacher got too close but Izuku couldn't tell anyone because Mr. Suzuki said he would make it worse if he told anyone.
Of course, he had to much fear to talk to his mother or father. He's too young to help himself
Mr. Suzuki just continued after he crossed the line the first time and Izuku couldn't do anything about it.
At the same time, his classmates got crueler.
They said he's too much of an animal because he's making bird noises and collect shiny things from the ground. He could barely be a class pet and nothing more.
They didn't even let him sit at tables anymore at lunch if they saw him the always said that pets should sit on the ground.
That's why he started to eat in the bathroom or other places no one else was at.
Izuku was confused why his best friend didn't do anything about the other kids. He even takes part in the bullying sometimes. Is Kachan still his best friend?

When Izuku was 9 his wings finally had all his flight feathers and soon he could start flying.
His wings were so big, they even reached the floor. But he found a new part of his Quirk, he can make his wings almost 50% smaller. But it has a time limit of 7 hours a day if he crosses the time limit his wings start to ache for some hours. That's why he turns his wings to the smaller form while he needs to move much like going to school, but when he's at home he uses the big form.
But at least he got used to his wings and his bird-like instincts
Even his father was really supportive and wanted to help Izuku learn to fly. But Inko and Izuku didn't count as close family anymore. Most of ther communicate was trough Hisashi because she refused to talk to Izuku.
Hisashi loved Inko too much even though she's a bad mother but at least she isn't hurting Izuku, and he promised he would never let her
But...
He couldn't keep the promise

When Izuku got home from school, he thought he would see his smiling father that makes izukus bad mood disappear. But instead, he found his drunk mother in the living room.
,, Izuku" that was the first time in months she talked to him
,,y-yes?"
, Hisashi, died in a villain fight"
Izuku holds his breath ,,What? T- that's a joke, R- right? .... mom?"
,, You're not going to school anymore! And hide those disgusting animal parts of you!"
That's everything she said. Bevor izuku could even understand what she just said, she left the room.
