Evourai stared as Lezy disappeared.
The death message flashed in his head as his breathing went heavy and ragged.
He couldn't cry. But he couldn't help it. Tears fell down his face, choked sobs coming from him.
Zolister stared at Lezy's fallen figure, turning to catch Evo's wild eyes. He stepped forward on the platform, his deadly gaze meeting Evo's.
Evo immediately moved back, still sobbing. He stared where Lezy was. Flashes and memories came back.
Everything they have went through, just for Lezy to die because Evo couldn't trust his gut.
"Ohhhh Evo... I told you this would happen!" He sighed, heavy with exaggerated disappointment. "You didn't listen to me. I warned you."
He sat down on the platform, his legs very slowly swaying.
Evo barked a small laugh, before turning and snapping, "I'm getting out of here!"
He started to build up, quickly. He wanted out, away from Zoli, away from all of this.
"You're not making it out of here!" Zolister called out, fixing the glowing cuffs on his wrists with his abnormally cold hands before standing up again. He brushed himself off before following Evo quietly.
Evo continue digging up until he ended up on a mountain. He stared out at the setting sun.
It was too beautiful fro what just happened. He looked down at his shaking hands.
A flash of red, splattered, appeared on his hand.
He looked to the side. Quakitus laid with his head on the obsidian, bleeding out while Sorhin watched.
It was gone in a matter of seconds.
"I should just leave the server.... Theres nothing for me now..."
Death sighed, annoyed with all the blocks Evo placed.
He snapped his fingers and teleported beside him. The small eyes blinked underneath his hair as he placed his sub zero hand on Evo's shoulder. "We aren't done yet."
Evo flinched at the touch, then immediately backed away, a pleading haze in his eyes.
"P-please, death, Zoli, whatever, leave me alone... I don't know what I did to you, but I'm sorry, I'll do anything for you to stop!"
"Just don't hurt anybody else..."
Zolister let a small smile show. "We are just getting started, kid. Do.. do you even have anyone left?" He chuckled.
"We could bring Supzec back. What do you think?" He tilted his head.
"Y-you're just gonna kill him again! Don't hurt anybody else! I'm the one you want, you didn't need to kill Lezy!"
Evo shoved at Zoli, but he knew it was no use. He probably looked pathetic right now.
Tears were falling down his face freely as he hit Zoli on the chest.
Death stood still as Evo hit his chest out of...
Anger? Grief? Sadness? Frustration?
He tilted his head, watching Evo's outpour of emotion.
He didn't know someone could showcase so many at once. He kept his mouth shut as he analyzed.
"Y-you're not even going to fucking say anything? You asshole!"
Evo continued to insult Zoli to hell and back, hitting harder and harder until the hits started to weaken.
His hands were going numb and his throat hurt from screaming.
He almost asked what he did wrong, but he started laughing. He knew what he did wrong. With all the lives he's taken and all the things he's done, he's the first person who's deserved this.
But he's changed...
Right?
Death placed his tender but cold hand on Evo's shoulder as his hits weakened, choking on his small sobs and laughs.
"Death comes for everyone Evo. It was just a matter of time."
Evo didn't say anything. Just continued to cry. He wanted to hug Zoli, act like it was Lezy.
But he wasn't that desperate. No. He wouldn't hug the guy who turned him into hardcore, killed his friends, and was now trying to act dignified.
Zolister put his hand over his shoulder and one around his head and pulled the smaller man into a hug.
He could tell from his gaze he needed someone.
Evo tried to immediately pull away, but gave up almost immediately and hugged back.
"I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you,I hate you, I hate you, I hate you..." Evo kept mumbling the same relates phrase, getting tears on Death's coat.
Zolister already knew that.
He continued to hold him though. At least until he pulled away.
He took out a black rose and spun it in his hands at the stem.
Evo stared at the rose.
He didn't know what was next for him. What was going to happen? What did Zoli had planned?*
"What now? You gonna be through some random test?"
"Like I said. We aren't done yet." Death answered, patting his head with his cold hand.
"But.. I can let you sit here for a bit. Looks like you have things to think about."
Evo, surprisingly, didn't move his head from Zoli's hand.
"Thanks, I guess..."
Evo walked past him and sat on the edge of the mountain, staring at the setting sun.
He was still thinking of logging off. Not like Zoli could exactly stop him from that.
Did this server have anything for him anymore.
Evo then looked down the mountain.
He had an idea. A stupid idea.
Zolister tilted his gaze on the black rose before standing up behind Evo, dropping the rose in his hand.
"For you."
His own eyes caught the sunset, watching the gorgeous warm colours mix with cold ones as they faded away.
Evo stares at the flower, touching the thorns.
"Pretty things always have such dangerous protection..."
Evo breathed in, shaking. He looked back down, still holding the rose tight.
"All pretty things come to an end eventually." Zolister smiled.
Evo looked up at Zoli, face wet with tears.
"Would there anybody you'd be sad for if they died?"
Death's emotions twisted as he tensed slightly.
He could think of at least one.
One he used to be close to.
But there was now a second.
The shorter man in front of him looked broken. Tired.
Done.
"Evo-"
"Answer the question."
Evo swung his legs, the wind picking up. The tears had stopped, his throat scratched when he tried to speak, but he didn't care.
He should do it. Like the embodiment of Death would even care.
Why was he acting like it?
"..Yes."
He watched Evo's gaze move back and forth.
"I know what you're thinking."
"What am I going to do? Jump?"
Evo turned to Zoli, holding the flower tight, the thorns picking into his skin.
His dark purple gaze went from Evo's face to the rose in his hand.
"Depends. Depends if you're thinking about leaving Supzec behind. Hell, even Mino."
"... Supzec has other friends... Mino has Airo and that one guy..."
Evo looked back down, tears falling again. He should just jump.
Just to spite Zoli.
Death chuckled.
"What other friends? He travelled with you, grew to be close friends with you, especially in the End when you two were alone and on the run."
He kneeled down next to him. "It's almost a little selfish. Or spiteful. Or both.
"You have to think of the bigger picture."
"Don't- this is, this is manipulation! I've played these games before, I've done this before, I've been victim to this multiple times!"
Evo shoved Zoli away, leaning more off the edge of the mountain.
Zolister sighed, standing up.
"I understand why'd you do this. Why you think you have nothing left.
"This is why one life is so important! You value life much more than someone would on five lives."
Zolister watched Evo's teetering figure.
"It's your decision in the end. I would recommend it not being your last, though."
Evo looked down.
He hated Zolister. With every fiber in his body.
But... A small part of him agreed with death.
He should just do it. Give Zoli one less puppet to mess with.
...
He stood up, looking over at Zoli, red eyes narrowed, "... I'm not giving up easy. I'll stay gold."
"Hm." Zolister stared at him then the black rose.
He removed the flower from his grasp, examining its petals.
"Are you ready to move on? Or.. care to watch the sunset some more." He tugs one of the petals out, the thorns sharp in his hand but it didn't do any physical damage.
".. Can we stay until it's gone?" Evo asked, annoyed at the hint of pleading in his voice.
He looked back at the sunset and patted the spot beside him, wanting Zoli to sit.
Zolister pulled out another petal before walking over and taking a seat.
Evo stared out at the sun, blinking slowly.
He leaned on Zoli, still crying, thought he was calming down.
He was exhausted... But he shouldn't fall asleep here-
Evo closed his eyes, his eyelashes fluttering before he fell sound asleep.
Zolister didn't move an inch from Evo's slumbering body.
As much as Death was cruel, he was also kind. Comforting. Understanding.
Or at least trying to understand.
He sat there, pulling out all the petals in the rose before dropping the stem off the cliff.
Evo's sleeping form wasn't still, but restless.
He was flipping around, almost falling off multiple times.
Zolister kept catching him when he slumped forward, and eventually just laid him back as he fabricated a spider lily in his hand, flicking the petals.
He placed the flower in Evo's hand before disappearing.
