Work Text:
Stark was in his tower, he couldn’t believe that he survived the snap, he could feel the pain burning inside of him, he couldn’t feel his hand near the keyboard, he thought that he typed something, but it turned out that he moved his hand floating atop of the keyboard.
“FRIDAY, run a scan on my body.” Tony asked from his AI.
The AI runs the scan as Tony could only watch as his hand moved in an erratic way, while he tried to pull out his other hand from his pocket which was hard for him to do.
“FRIDAY. Just say it plain and straight.” Tony asked.
"The cosmic radiation from the nanite snap has accelerated the palladium-isotope degradation. Cellular necrosis in the primary organs is currently at eighty-eight percent." FRIDAY said.
“How long do I have, FRIDAY?” Tony questioned his AI.
“Four months, but if you continue to pilot the armor, then sixty days, sir.” FRIDAY replied.
He was literally a dead man walking, the snap only made it worse and he knew that the time stone couldn’t help, it was gone, the Gauntlet was gone.
He was so busy in his thought that he didn’t notice his boyfriend arrived in a portal and stared at FRIDAY scanning.
“Tony, what is this? What’s going on?” Stephen asked, worried masked his face.
“It appeared that snapping your fingers with the power of the cosmos could lead to terminal illness, if I thought that I would live forever after the snap, it has a price.” Tony replied.
“How long do we have?” Stephen asked, wishing that he could have the time stone to save his boyfriend, or at least find a new time stone.
“Sixty days.” Tony answered.
“Daddy?” Morgan ran over her dad.
“I’m sorry, she ran over, I hope we’re not interrupting.” Pepper apologized.
“It’s okay, Pep, we are going to take care of Morgan.” Stephen thanked her while trying to think of how he should tell the kid that Tony is going to die.
Stephen tried to help his boyfriend until there was nothing he could do about it.
Stephen watched as his boyfriend took the last breath, holding his body and cried for the loss of the man that captured his heart.
“Stephen?” Pepper entered the room, holding Morgan.
Stephen shook his head, tears being seen running down his eyes.
Morgan screamed, watching her dad and her other dad crying.
“No, daddy...” Morgan cried as Pepper tried to get her away from the scene, and didn't want that she’ll be traumatized.
“Pepper, Peter should know about it before the news will run faster and reach all of them.” Stephen said, his voice cracked as he let out a cry, holding Tony and closing the man’s eyes as he laid him on the bed and gave one last kiss on Stark’s forehead.
The funeral took place the next day, Stephen held Morgan’s hand as they watched the people gathering to pay respect for a fallen avenger.
“My dad is a hero.” Morgan said, tears running down her face.
“We love you 3000.”
