Chapter 1: strawberries and cigarretes

Summary:

Jeongguk looks like trouble in every possible way: tattoos, leather jackets, bruised knuckles, and a motorcycle everyone on campus secretly swoons over. Taehyung is softer around the edges, pretty smiles, sketchbooks, oversized sweaters, and tired eyes after long nights in the studio. Somehow, they fit together perfectly. Beneath Jeongguk’s rough edges is someone unbearably gentle with Taehyung, and beneath Taehyung’s quietness is someone who loves Jeongguk just as fiercely. This story is about all the little things in between.

Chapter Text

“I don’t kiss guys who smoke,” Taehyung said, brows furrowing as he pressed two fingers gently against the bartender’s lips before he could lean any closer.

The bartender only hummed.

Low. Amused.

His tattooed hand disappeared into the pocket of his dark jeans while Taehyung watched suspiciously.

“I got something for that,” he murmured.

Taehyung blinked as the man shuffled around dramatically before finally pulling something out and placing it on the counter between them.

“…Strawberry flavored?”

A lollipop.

Taehyung stared at it in disbelief before looking back up at him.

The bartender grinned lazily, faint dimples appearing like he knew exactly how unfairly attractive he was.

“What?” he said. “Problem solved.”

Taehyung let out an incredulous laugh.

“You carry strawberry lollipops around regularly?”

“I like sweet things.”

His gaze lingered meaningfully.

Taehyung immediately looked away first.

God.

That should’ve embarrassed him more than it did.

Instead, warmth crept up his neck while he unwrapped the candy carefully, trying not to notice the way the bartender leaned against the counter watching his every movement.

“You always flirt with customers like this?” Taehyung asked, slipping the lollipop into his mouth.

“No.” The answer came too fast.

Taehyung glanced up.

The bartender’s eyes had softened somehow beneath the dim lighting. Less teasing now. More dangerous.

“Just the pretty ones.”

Taehyung hated how his stomach flipped at that.

Especially because the idiot probably smelled faintly like cigarettes underneath his cologne anyway.

And somehow, he already knew he was going to kiss him eventually.

Taehyung never figured out whether it was late fall or the beginning of winter when he first fell for him.

By then the trees lining campus had already gone bare, dark branches stretching over the sidewalks like ink strokes against the pale sky. Dead leaves collected in the corners of the street, crunching beneath hurried footsteps while cold wind rushed between buildings sharp enough to sting his cheeks pink.

The weather made him feel strangely nostalgic.

It reminded him of long nights walking home with headphones on, hands shoved into oversized sleeves, the world feeling cinematic in the lonely way it sometimes did during college.

Normally, Taehyung would’ve slowed down to enjoy it.

But not today.

Today, he was catastrophically late to his final exam.

“Fuck,” he breathed under his breath, tightening his grip on the strap of his bag as he sprinted across another intersection. “Why didn’t I hear the alarm?”

His lungs burned from the cold air almost immediately. The fashion campus sat annoyingly far from the apartment he shared with Jimin, and Taehyung could already imagine himself stumbling into class sweaty, sleep-deprived, and seconds away from academic death.

His sketchbooks bounced painfully against his side as he ran.

Almost there.

Just one more block.

Then.

His boot caught awkwardly against uneven pavement.

The world lurched violently.

“Shit-”

Pain exploded through his palms and knees as he slammed hard against the concrete. His bag slipped off his shoulder entirely, sketchbooks spilling open around him while loose pages scattered across the sidewalk in every direction.

For a second, Taehyung just stayed there.

Humiliation hit before pain did.

A sharp ache crawled up his knees while freezing air bit against the skin exposed through his ripped jeans. He could already feel the sting of scraped skin underneath the denim.

Around him, students slowed briefly to stare before continuing on with their day.

Someone stepped around one of his sketchbooks without even looking down.

Great.

Perfect.

Taehyung squeezed his eyes shut for a second, wishing desperately for the ground to swallow him whole.

Then came the sound of a motorcycle engine.

Low. Deep. Close.

The noise rolled toward him before stopping directly beside the curb.

Taehyung looked up slowly.

Black boots hit the pavement first.

Then long legs wrapped in dark denim and leather.

A gloved hand reached toward him.

“Are you okay?” a low voice asked. “Can you stand?”

Taehyung blinked.

And, unfortunately, even through the helmet, the stranger was very obviously attractive.

Which somehow made this entire situation more embarrassing.

Because of course the universe would arrange for him to eat shit in public in front of the hottest man he’d ever seen.

“Uh,” Taehyung said intelligently.

The biker’s hand remained extended patiently.

Warm leather gloves. Thin silver chain resting on his neck. Broad shoulders hidden beneath a black jacket.

Taehyung hated how aware he suddenly became of himself.

His messy hair. His ripped jeans. The fact that he was still half-sprawled across the sidewalk like an idiot.

“Thanks,” he mumbled finally, accepting the hand.

The stranger pulled him upright easily.

Too easily.

Taehyung stumbled slightly from the sudden pain shooting through his knees and hissed softly under his breath.

“You’re hurt,” the biker said immediately.

“I’m fine.”

The biker tilted his helmet slightly, clearly unconvinced.

Taehyung avoided looking directly at the visor for too long. He couldn’t even see the man’s eyes, but somehow he still felt watched.

Not mocked exactly.

More like… amused.

“Where’re you heading?” the biker asked.

“Campus,” Taehyung answered awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. “I have a final.”

The biker glanced down briefly at the scattered sketchbooks still lying across the sidewalk.

“Fashion student?”

Taehyung narrowed his eyes suspiciously. “Was it that obvious?”

Taehyung looked down at himself instinctively.

Okay. Fair.

A quiet laugh crackled beneath the helmet.

God.

Even his laugh was attractive.

“Need a ride?” the biker asked, nodding toward the motorcycle behind him. “You’re limping.”

Taehyung’s eyes widened immediately.

“Oh…no, it’s okay,” he said too quickly. “Campus is close.”

As if determined to prove his point, he took a step forward.

Immediate regret.

Pain shot up his leg so sharply his entire face twisted before he could stop it.

The biker snorted softly.

“Yeah,” he said dryly. “You look fine.”

Heat crawled instantly up Taehyung’s neck.

Before he could argue again, a black helmet was suddenly pressed against his chest.

“Put this on.”

Taehyung stared down at it.

His heartbeat had started doing something deeply annoying in his chest.

“This feels unsafe,” he muttered weakly.

“What, me?”

The biker sounded offended.

Taehyung glanced up instinctively toward the dark visor.

“Your driving,” he replied.

That earned him another laugh.

Warm this time.

Real.

And Taehyung weirdly wanted to hear it again.

“C’mon,” the biker said. “You’ll miss your exam.”

There was something gentle underneath the teasing now.

Like he genuinely cared.

Which felt strange considering they were complete strangers.

Swallowing nervously, Taehyung slipped the helmet over his head.

The straps tangled awkwardly beneath his chin almost immediately.

“Hold still.”

The biker stepped closer.

Much closer.

Warm fingers brushed beneath Taehyung’s jaw while adjusting the strap carefully into place.

The touch lasted maybe three seconds.

Still, Taehyung stopped breathing entirely.

Up close, he caught the faint scent of leather, smoke, and cold winter air clinging to the man’s jacket.

It smelled unfairly good.

“You okay?” the biker asked quietly.

Taehyung realized too late he’d been staring.

“Oh my god,” he thought horrified.

He looked down at his shoes instantly instead.

“Yeah,” he answered too fast. “Fine.”

The biker hummed softly like he didn’t believe him for a second.

Taehyung climbed onto the motorcycle carefully afterward, nerves twisting embarrassingly in his stomach. He’d never ridden one before, and suddenly he felt hyperaware of how close he was sitting to this stranger.

Close enough to feel warmth radiating through the layers of his jacket.

Close enough to notice how broad his shoulders were.

“Try holding onto me,” the biker said. “You’ll feel more stable.”

At first, Taehyung awkwardly placed his hands on the man’s shoulders.

Then the motorcycle pulled forward.

A startled sound escaped him before instinct took over completely.

Taehyung wrapped both arms tightly around the biker’s waist.

Immediately.

Firmly.

The stranger laughed quietly beneath him.

“Yeah,” he murmured. “Like that.”

Taehyung wanted to disappear.

Because his face felt hot despite the freezing weather, and because underneath his hands he could feel solid muscle beneath layers of leather and cotton, and because his heartbeat had become so violently loud he was suddenly convinced the biker could feel it through his back.

The city blurred around them after that.

Cold wind rushed past while Taehyung held on tighter every time the motorcycle turned. His cheek brushed briefly against the biker’s shoulder once, and something strange settled low inside his chest.

Not excitement exactly.

Something softer.

Something warm.

Safe.

Which made no sense.

He didn’t even know this man’s name.

And yet, somewhere between the freezing air, the rumble of the motorcycle beneath him, and the steady warmth of the stranger in his arms.

Taehyung had the terrifying feeling that something in his life had just quietly changed forever.

Taehyung didn’t see the biker again after that morning.

Not after finals ended.

Not during the week he practically lived inside the studio building surviving on vending machine coffee and four hours of sleep.

Not even when he started taking the longer route home some nights for no reason other than the quiet hope that he’d hear the low rumble of a motorcycle engine somewhere nearby.

Nothing.

Which was embarrassing, honestly.

It had been one ride.

One cold morning. One stranger. One helmet hiding a face Taehyung never even saw.

Still, the memory lingered annoyingly well.

Sometimes while working, Taehyung would suddenly remember the feeling of warm leather gloves brushing beneath his chin while the biker adjusted the helmet strap. Or the steady weight of his hands around the man’s waist during turns. Or the laugh, low and rough and amused in a way that made Taehyung feel hyperaware of himself.

It was stupid.

Worse, it made him feel sixteen.

“You’re doing it again,” Jimin said from across the library table.

Taehyung blinked up from his sketchbook. “Doing what?”

“That thing where you stare into space like somebody’s husband waiting for him to return from war.”

Taehyung snorted despite himself. “You’re dramatic.”

“Says the man emotionally attached to a motorcycle stranger.”

Heat crawled faintly up Taehyung’s neck.

“I’m not emotionally attached.”

Jimin gave him a look.

Then he reached across the table and shut Taehyung’s sketchbook completely.

“Nope. Finals are over,” he announced. “You’re coming out tonight before you become one of those art students who accidentally develops a nicotine addiction and a superiority complex.”

“I already have the superiority complex.”

“The nicotine addiction is next. Get dressed.”

Which was how Taehyung ended up in a crowded downtown bar close to midnight wearing an outfit he’d spent too long pretending he hadn’t carefully planned.

The place smelled faintly like alcohol, expensive perfume, and cigarette smoke dragged in from outside. Music vibrated low through the floor while colored lights reflected against rows of liquor bottles behind the counter.

Warm.

Loud.

The kind of place where people leaned too close when they talked.

Taehyung already wanted to leave.

Jimin disappeared almost immediately after spotting someone attractive near the pool tables.

“Unbelievable,” Taehyung muttered, sliding onto an empty stool at the bar.

“Rough night?”

The voice hit him somewhere low in his chest before his brain even caught up.

Taehyung looked up too quickly.

The bartender stood across from him drying a glass lazily with one hand. Black button-up shirt. Sleeves rolled to his elbows. Silver rings catching beneath the dim lights every time he moved.

Pretty wasn’t even the right word for him.

He was

Distracting.

Dark hair fell loosely over his forehead while tattoos disappeared beneath the sleeves of his shirt. There was something unfairly calm about him too, like he knew exactly the effect he had on people and simply chose not to acknowledge it.

Taehyung’s stomach tightened strangely.

Because something about him felt familiar.

“You look exhausted,” the bartender said casually.

Taehyung blinked. “Wow. Hello to you too.”

A small smile tugged at the corner of the bartender’s mouth.

“Finals?”

“How did you know?”

“You’ve got that haunted art student look.”

Taehyung let out a quiet offended sound. “That’s incredibly rude.”

“But accurate.”

Unfortunately, it was.

The bartender laughed softly before reaching for a glass.

“What’re you drinking?”

“Something strong enough to erase the last two weeks of my life.”

“Got it.”

Taehyung watched him work while trying very hard not to.

There was something weirdly attractive about the way he moved, calm, effortless, sleeves pushed back slightly while his hands worked automatically.

Nice hands, Taehyung thought absently.

Then immediately wanted to throw himself into traffic.

The bartender slid a drink toward him.

“On the house.”

Taehyung eyed him suspiciously. “Is that allowed?”

“Probably not.”

“Hm.” Taehyung took a sip anyway. “I support reckless behavior.”

That earned him another small smile.

God.

That smile.

It wasn’t flirtatious exactly. Just quiet. Amused in a way that made Taehyung feel singled out somehow.

And unfortunately, once Taehyung started talking, he didn’t really stop.

Partly because he was tipsy.

Mostly because the bartender listened in a way that made Taehyung want to keep going.

Not polite listening.

Real listening.

Like he found Taehyung interesting.

Which was dangerous.

By his third drink, warmth buzzed pleasantly beneath Taehyung’s skin while his thoughts softened around the edges.

“And then,” he said dramatically, leaning against the counter, “I completely destroyed my dignity in front of the hottest person alive.”

The bartender nearly laughed into the glass he was holding.

Taehyung pointed at him immediately. “No, listen. This is serious.”

“I can tell.”

“I fell. Hard.” Taehyung groaned, pressing a hand over his face at the memory. “Like genuinely humiliating. There were papers everywhere.”

“Tragic.”

“It was traumatic,” Taehyung corrected.

The bartender’s eyes crinkled slightly at the corners.

Cute.

No.

Dangerous.

Taehyung took another sip quickly.

“And then this biker stopped,” he continued, words slower now. “Out of nowhere.”

Something flickered briefly across the bartender’s expression.

Taehyung didn’t notice.

“He gave me a ride to class,” he said quietly, almost to himself now. “Didn’t even see his face.”

The bartender leaned against the counter slightly closer.

“And you’ve been thinking about him ever since?”

Taehyung narrowed his eyes.

Maybe it was the alcohol, but the question felt weirdly direct.

“Maybe,” he admitted carefully.

“That bad?”

Taehyung let out a long suffering sigh before dropping his forehead briefly against the cool surface of the bar.

“You don’t understand,” he muttered. “His waist-”

The bartender laughed openly this time.

Taehyung looked up immediately, betrayed.

“Oh my god, you are judging me.”

“I’m really not.”

“You are literally laughing at me.”

“I’m laughing with affection.”

“That’s worse.”

The bartender’s smile softened slightly after that.

“You’re cute when you ramble.”

Taehyung’s heart stumbled embarrassingly hard against his ribs.

The alcohol suddenly didn’t feel strong enough.

He looked down at his drink instead. “You flirt with everybody like this?”

“No.”

The answer came too quickly to be casual.

Taehyung looked back up automatically.

Something in the bartender’s expression had changed.

Subtler now.

Focused.

Like he was studying Taehyung’s face for a reaction.

And suddenly that strange feeling of familiarity returned stronger than before.

“You seriously don’t recognize me?” the bartender asked softly.

Taehyung frowned.

“What?”

Then the bartender tilted his head slightly

“Try holding onto me.” he said.

Everything inside Taehyung went still.

The voice.

The exact words.

Taehyung stared at him.

No.

No way.

The bartender grinned slowly as realization crashed across Taehyung’s face.

“Oh my god,” Taehyung whispered.

A laugh escaped the bartender, warm and low and unmistakably familiar now.

“You,” Taehyung said blankly.

“Me.”

“You’re the biker?”

“Last time I checked.”

Taehyung genuinely didn’t know whether to laugh or die from embarrassment.

“You let me sit here talking about you this entire time?”

“To be fair,” the bartender said, leaning closer across the counter, “you were very entertaining.”

Up close, Taehyung caught the faint scent of smoke and mint again.

The same scent from that morning.

His stomach flipped so suddenly it almost hurt.

“This is humiliating,” Taehyung muttered, covering part of his face with his hand.

The biker, Jeongguk apparently, looked at him for a second too long before smiling softly.

“I thought it was cute.”

The way he said it felt unfairly intimate.

Like he wasn’t teasing anymore.

Taehyung hated how warm his face felt.

And somehow it only got worse after closing.

The strawberry lollipop kiss happened almost accidentally.

Or at least that’s what Taehyung told himself afterward.

One second they were standing too close behind the counter while Jeongguk teased him for wrinkling his nose at cigarette smoke.

“I don’t kiss guys who smoke,” Taehyung had mumbled defensively.

Jeongguk hummed thoughtfully before reaching into his pocket.

“I’ve got something for that.”

Taehyung laughed so suddenly it caught him off guard.

“...Strawberry flavored?” raising his eyebrows.

A lollipop.

Taehyung unwrapped the candy slowly, suddenly hyperaware of how close Jeongguk was standing.

Close enough that Taehyung could see the tiny mole beneath his lip now.

Close enough to notice how pretty his eyes were.

God.

The lollipop tasted sweet and artificial and embarrassingly memorable.

Jeongguk watched him for a second before his gaze dropped briefly toward Taehyung’s mouth.

The shift was subtle.

Still, Taehyung felt it instantly.

Tension curled low in his stomach.

Neither of them moved at first.

The noise of the bar faded strangely around them while Jeongguk stepped closer, slow enough that Taehyung could’ve pulled away if he wanted to.

He didn’t.

Jeongguk’s hand slid gently along the side of his neck instead, thumb brushing beneath his jaw.

Careful.

Like Taehyung was something worth handling softly.

“You still taste strawberries?” Jeongguk asked quietly.

Taehyung’s pulse jumped.

“…Maybe.”

Jeongguk smiled faintly.

Then kissed him.

Slow at first.

Warm lips. The faint taste of cigarettes and strawberry between them. Jeongguk’s fingers resting lightly against Taehyung’s neck while Taehyung forgot every coherent thought he’d ever had in his life.

The kiss wasn’t overwhelming.

That was the problem.

It felt easy.

Natural in a way that scared Taehyung a little.

Like kissing Jeongguk was something his body understood immediately.

When they finally pulled apart, Taehyung stayed frozen there for a second, breathing unevenly.

Jeongguk looked annoyingly calm in comparison.

“That,” Taehyung said finally, voice quieter than intended, “felt a little evil.”

Jeongguk’s mouth curved slowly.

“That bad?”

Taehyung stared at him for one dangerous second too long.

Then admitted softly.

“That good.”

The smile Jeongguk gave him after that looked dangerously fond.

And somehow, it only got worse from there.

After finally learning the mysterious biker’s name was Jeongguk, Taehyung started noticing him everywhere in his life.

Not in a dramatic way.

Worse.

In the quiet, everyday ways that slowly made someone feel essential.

Jeongguk waiting outside his morning lectures with two coffees balanced carefully in one hand because he remembered Taehyung always forgot breakfast during critique weeks.

Jeongguk showing up at two in the morning with convenience store ramen and strawberry milk after Taehyung texted *I think I’m going to die in this studio.*

Jeongguk sitting beside him during late nights working on projects, broad shoulders brushing against Taehyung’s every so often while he silently flipped through fashion magazines or doodled little cartoons in the corners of Taehyung’s sketchbooks just to make him laugh.

At some point, Taehyung stopped realizing when Jeongguk had started feeling like part of his routine.

Like home.

And every morning, without fail

The motorcycle.

Black helmet tucked beneath one arm, dark jacket hugging broad shoulders, rings glinting whenever he checked his phone while waiting outside Taehyung’s apartment building.

It became a thing on campus embarrassingly fast.

“Your biker boyfriend is here again.”

“Why does he literally look like that?”

“I’d fail all my classes if someone picked me up looking that hot.”

Taehyung always rolled his eyes like he was tired of hearing it.

Secretly, the attention made warmth bloom low in his chest every single time.

Because they were right.

Jeongguk was unfair to look at.

Especially when he looked soft for Taehyung.

Like the way his entire expression changed the second he spotted him walking out of class.

Or how he’d instinctively reach for Taehyung’s bag before even saying hello.

Or the way he always fixed Taehyung’s scarf properly because “you never wear it right.”

Small things.

Boyfriend things.

The kind that made Taehyung’s chest ache unexpectedly sometimes.

Like today.

Taehyung had barely stepped out of the fashion building when he spotted Jeongguk immediately across campus beside the motorcycle.

Students passed him constantly, and almost every single one looked twice.

Taehyung understood why.

Dark hoodie beneath a leather jacket. Black rings. Wind pushing his hair away from his forehead while he scrolled through his phone lazily.

He looked less like someone waiting after class and more like he belonged in some indie film Taehyung would obsess over for six months.

The sight of him made Taehyung smile automatically.

Then a girl approached him first.

Pretty.

Confident.

The type of pretty that looked effortless.

Taehyung slowed slightly.

He watched her say something while gesturing toward the motorcycle with a bright smile. Jeongguk answered politely, looking up from his phone.

The girl laughed.

Then touched his arm lightly.

Something unpleasant twisted low in Taehyung’s stomach.

Not anger exactly.

Something hotter.

Possessive in a way he didn’t like admitting even to himself.

Jeongguk wasn’t flirting back. Taehyung knew that immediately. Jeongguk had this very specific smile he only used when he was genuinely interested in someone, softer around the edges somehow.

Still.

The girl leaned closer again.

And Jeongguk was just standing there looking devastatingly handsome while listening politely like he always did.

Taehyung hated how irrationally bothered he felt.

Especially because part of him understood it.

Of course people stared at Jeongguk.

Taehyung did too.

Sometimes even while they were together.

Sometimes Taehyung would catch himself watching Jeongguk talk and suddenly get hit with the overwhelming realization that this beautiful person was somehow his.

His boyfriend.

The same Jeongguk who kissed sleepily against his shoulder in the mornings.

Who memorized his coffee order after hearing it once.

Who always slowed the motorcycle down over speed bumps because Taehyung once complained about almost sliding off.

And now some random girl was touching his arm.

Absolutely not.

Before he could think better of it, Taehyung started walking faster across the courtyard.

Jeongguk noticed him immediately.

Of course he did.

And the second their eyes met, the corner of Jeongguk’s mouth lifted slightly like he already knew exactly what Taehyung was thinking.

The traitor.

“-maybe sometime?” the girl was saying.

Taehyung walked directly between them without hesitation.

Then grabbed the front of Jeongguk’s jacket and kissed him.

Not soft either.

Possessive enough that nearby students audibly reacted.

Jeongguk made a surprised sound against his mouth before one hand immediately slid around Taehyung’s waist, pulling him closer on instinct.

Warm.

Solid.

Familiar.

Taehyung could feel Jeongguk smiling faintly into the kiss after about two seconds, which only annoyed him more.

When he finally pulled away, he kept his hand curled tightly into Jeongguk’s jacket.

“Sorry,” Taehyung said, glancing toward the girl without sounding remotely sorry. “He already gives me rides.”

The girl blinked.

Then recognition crossed her face.

“Oh my god,” she said. “You’re the motorcycle boyfriend.”

Taehyung straightened slightly beside Jeongguk.

“…Yeah.”

The girl looked embarrassed immediately, apologizing quickly before hurrying off.

The second she disappeared, silence settled between them for half a second.

Then Jeongguk looked down at him slowly.

“…Well,” he said quietly. “That was kind of hot.”

Heat rushed instantly into Taehyung’s face.

“You were flirting with her.”

“I was answering a question.”

“She touched you.”

Jeongguk actually laughed this time.

Not mocking.

Fond.

Which somehow made Taehyung feel even more ridiculous.

“You think this is funny?” Taehyung muttered.

“A little,” Jeongguk admitted.

“Jeon Jeongguk.”

God.

The way Jeongguk reacted whenever Taehyung used his full name should’ve been illegal.

His entire expression softened instantly, eyes warming in a way that made Taehyung’s irritation weaken against his will.

“Are you jealous?” Jeongguk asked softly, stepping closer.

Taehyung crossed his arms. “No.”

Jeongguk hummed like he didn’t believe him for a second.

Then his hand slid gently beneath Taehyung’s chin, tilting his face upward just slightly.

The touch alone was enough to make Taehyung’s heartbeat stumble.

“Really?” Jeongguk murmured. “Then why’d you kiss me like you were claiming territory?”

Taehyung looked away first.

Because the truth was embarrassingly simple.

Because sometimes Jeongguk looked at him with so much quiet affection it genuinely scared him a little.

And because the idea of someone else getting Jeongguk’s attention made something sharp and anxious bloom inside his chest before he could stop it.

“…Because you’re mine,” Taehyung admitted finally, voice quieter now.

The words settled between them.

Jeongguk went still.

Not shocked.

Just… soft suddenly.

The kind of soft he only ever became with Taehyung.

His thumb brushed once against Taehyung’s jaw before he leaned closer, forehead almost touching his.

“Yeah,” Jeongguk said quietly. “I am.”

Something warm unfolded painfully inside Taehyung’s chest.

Because Jeongguk always answered like that.

So certain.

Like being Taehyung’s was something he genuinely wanted.

Jeongguk smiled a little afterward, nudging the extra helmet into Taehyung’s hands.

“C’mon,” he said softly. “Let me take my dramatic boyfriend home.”

Taehyung rolled his eyes, but he was already smiling while pulling the helmet on.

This time, when he climbed onto the motorcycle, he wrapped his arms around Jeongguk’s waist before the engine even started.

Jeongguk laughed quietly under his breath.

Then one of his hands covered Taehyung’s where they rested against his stomach, squeezing once gently before pulling out onto the road.

And with his cheek pressed against the back of Jeongguk’s shoulder, cold wind rushing past them while the city lights blurred together.

Taehyung thought, not for the first time, that falling in love had started feeling terrifyingly easy.

And the ride back to Jeongguk’s apartment felt warmer than the weather had in weeks.
