Chapter Text

Leonard Wolfe really didnt expect the new kid to be that cool of a guy, or hell, even his new best friend, but it seems like he's got one.

The school's hallways were loud and full of lost kids. It was the first day, and most had new teachers. Leo shoved past a couple bickering sixth graders to get to the highschool hallways.

"Wolf!" A sharp, prepubescent sounding voice sounded from the back of the crowd of middleschoolers.
It was Pete Mitchell. Leo and many of the other kids just called him Maverick because of how highstrung and volatile he was, and the name had truly began after the gym teacher yelled at him for snooping in on the girl's bathroom. It just stuck.

Maverick pushed past a seventh grader, and almost toppled over two sixth graders as he tried to catch up to Leo before he disappeared in the crowd. "Who do you have first period?" He asked, looking at his own sheet in his hand to try and compare with Leo's sheet. "I have friggin' Sanders. I hate doing math first thing."

"Agriculture with Mr. Waylon." Leo replied back, after skimming over Maverick's sheet. They only had 3 classes together out of the 8, which was baseball (PE), English, and homeroom.

"Good luck with math then, Mav." Another voice called from behind Leo. There was Ron Kerner, and he had Tom Kazansky with him. Ron also had a nickname like Maverick's, which was Slider, except his wasn't from personality, it was from the fact that everytime he played basketball, he slid and fell.

Tom Kazansky had a name too, it was just sort of a running thing between all the friends to have names, because who wouldnt? Like Leo's was Wolf or Wolfman, from his last name.

Tom's nickname was Iceman. Akin to Maverick's, his was related to his cool personality. He was quiet, calm, and collected, he never screwed anything up ever. He did have a bit of a cocky streak like Mav's though.

The four trades papers to check which classes they all had together, which was only english. Then, they went to their first period. It rolled by quickly, meeting some new students, just getting the syllabus.

Second period was a wonder for Wolfman though. He sat down in English class next to Mav, Slider, and Ice. Wolfman looked over the class, a bunch of familiar faces, mainly because nobody ever moved to the damn old town. There were a few new faces, a girl with short hair, a frecklefaced girl, an athletic looking boy, a boy who dressed like a proper redneck, and one boy that stood out like a sore thumb. That boy had on a button up shirt. Not like any old western shirt like they wore around here, but a dressy one. He also had on khackis. Friggin' khackis. The boy had a pair of sunglasses clipped to his shirt, and his hair looked like he'd spent a solid hour fixing it perfectly in the mirror that morning.

Compared to him, Wolf looked like a bum. His striped button down, blue jeans, and cowboy boots, which were stained pretty roughly with cow shit on the bottoms. He elbowed Iceman "do you know that guy? new one with khackis?" Wolfman whispered, they had atleast 5 minutes until the late bell rung, and their teacher wasn't in the room yet.

"No, never seen him before. He's dressed to damn good to be in here, must be a rich boy or something, maybe his dad's the guy who bought the plastic plant." Ice muttered back, rolling his eyes at Maverick.

Wolfman grinned, pushing his hair out of his face "Well I'll go talk to him then. Maybe see if we can screw with him." he pushed up out of his seat beside Slider.

Wolfman walked over to the other boy's desk, he cleared his throat as he approached to sort of break the ice. "Hi, what's your name?" Wolf grinned as he spoke.

"Rick, Rick Neven." The boy sitting in his desk answered, extending a hand for a handshake, which Wolf took. He didn't look too pleased to be approached already, as he was without a smile, but didn't seem like he despised Wolf already. "You?"

"Leo Wolfe." Wolfman replied as he shook the other's hand once. Wolf's grip was firm, and he was surprised that the other's was too.

Rick snickered "Leo..Wolfe? Like Leo like a lion and then Wolfe?"

"No, like Leonard, numbnuts." Wolf rolled his eyes "My momma ain't that stupid."

"Seems like you are."

"Hey! Cut it out, Ricky."

"Ricky?"

"Yeah, Ricky." Wolf's grin turned giddy, as he saw Rick finally smile back at him.

"Okay, Wolf." He teased back "I get a name, you do too."

"mine's already Wolfman."

"huh?"

"Yeah, Hollywood, I'm Wolfman." Wolf nodded at the other's wide and perfect grin "You look like you just came from Hollywood, so I'm callin' you Hollywood." He gestured his other friends. "Thats Maverick, Pete Mitchell, then Iceman, Tom Kazansky, and Slider, Ron Kerner."

"Class! Sit down in a seat!" The teacher had finally come in, and she was yelling mainly at Wolfman to go sit and leave Hollywood alone.
