“Spoke..?” The demon hybrid had his sword halfway through the null soldier’s his best friend’s stomach, “You’re, you’re working with them?” he forced the words out, “Why? You betrayed me. I,” he swallowed, “I trusted you.”
“No! I’m not!” Spoke cried then groaned from the pain, “Please Mapicc!” The voidling below him was dying and if Mapicc didn’t help soon he would be gone. Forever. “It’s him. He’s the one that betrayed us. Not me!”
“You killed him. Why?” Mapicc could see welling in Spoke’s eyes. The color draining out of his face. His eyes didn’t have the shine they usually did, they were almost grey, no longer the glowing white Mapicc was used to.
“He’s not dead! Can’t you see? He can’t die!” he winced, “I had no choice. We would all be captured if I didn’t get rid of him.” He sobbed. “Please believe me.”
“Were you the one to spawn the nether portals?” Mapicc looked down, tears forming. “The ones that led null to Emma's village?” Spoke looked away. “Tell me!” Mapicc slightly pushed the sword up.
Spoke cried out. It broke Mapicc’s heart to hear that sound, and do all of this but he needed answers. “I,” He nodded, “The first one that led them there.” Spoke looked back up at him, “I’m sorry May, I never wanted anyone to get hurt."
“Except him it seems.” Mapicc muttered.
“Yes!” Spoke slammed his eyes shut, the pain was too much, “Because he’s the one causing our problems! He’s the one hurting people! Why can’t you see that? How do you think null found us? How did the stash get robbed in less than a minute? Can’t you see?”
“You led null to us! You spawned the portal! And now Jumper’s gone, Planet’s gone, and it’s your fault!”
“You think I did this? May, it’s him! Why don’t you believe me?” Spoke had tears streaming down his face. “Mapicc.” He gasped. Mapicc needed to do something soon if he was ever gonna see this voidling again. “Please.” His voice was weak, barely a whisper.
“I need answers, true answers, not lies.”
“Mapicc, I don’t know what else you want me to say,” his eyes were no longer glowing, Mapicc could see the life seeping out of him. “All I’ve been saying has been true, He’s leading null. He’s the one who captured Planet, a-and Jumper, and Emma.”
“Spoke. I know that’s not true. He’s been nothing but helpful to us. He saved me. Did you forget that?”
“He took you!” Spoke shouted, then muttered, “He took you from me. He knows me. He knows I can’t live without you.”
“Give me one reason I shouldn’t kill you.”
Spoke hesitated, “It’s never gonna end Mapicc. It’s easy as that.”
“Go,” Mapicc splashed a healing potion, “Leave, get out of here. I’ll let you live, just leave, I don’t want to see you again.”
“Mapicc,” The color was slowly returning to his face, “Please, I can prove it, just I need more time. Please”
“No, I’m done, run off, stay in the farlands, I don’t care. Just don’t contact me again. I’m going to find him, if he’s not dead.” Mapicc stood and began walking.
“Mapicc! Please! This is exactly what he wants!”
“No,” He turned to look at Spoke one last time, “I’m done,” He repeated, “I’m done with your manipulation, I’m done with your lies. Goodbye Spoke.”
“Mapicc.” But Spoke didn’t have anything else to say. He murmured, barely audible, “He knows without you I can’t stay on this server. Without you, I don’t have anything to live for. I don’t have anything to keep fighting for.” Spoke gripped the hilt of Mapicc’s blade. By the time Mapicc realized what he was doing, it was too late.
“No!” Spoke plunged the blade the rest of the way through his stomach. Mapicc ran to his side. “Spoke, no, no, no, no, no.” It was too late, Spoke was dead, by his own hand and Mapicc’s blade. “No, don’t leave me, you can’t.” Mapicc sobbed quietly, “I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry.” This was all his fault. “Spoke, please.” He couldn’t hear him. Mapicc knew that. A single tear fell. “I’m sorry.” He said again. Mapicc still loved Spoke, no matter what he did.
He wanted to see Spoke again, “I didn’t mean it, I didn’t mean anything I said.” He, like Spoke, couldn’t live in a world without his best friend. “Spoke…” He said one more time. He pulled his blade out of his best friend. “I’ll see you soon, friend.” He pushed the blade through his own stomach. His breath hitched and he was gone too.
The two friends lay there, dead. Still holding hands, still together, never letting go. Mapicc’s head rested on Spoke’s chest. Both their eyes closed, ready for death. They made no sound as they pierced the stomach with the sword, but the small breath of relief as they knew they wouldn’t have to worry about null, Jamato, or death as they had just brought it to themselves. The blade, Reyna, lay next to them, Mapicc had pulled it out before he took his final breath. If not for the blood, they would look almost peaceful.
