Work Text:

By the time everyone settles for the night, the noise of the celebrations has quietened down a little, enough to let the periodic swooshing of waves wash over them. Por and Teetee have settled down on the balcony connected to the condo’s living room, the busyness of their schedules fucking up their biorhythms enough to not feel sleepy yet despite their tiredness.

The meet-up was a bit spontaneous, a rare opportunity to bring everyone together mixed into Por and Teetee’s natural inability to stay away from each other for too long. By the end of the evening, it seemed only natural for Tee and his mom to crash at the Jirachotikul beach condo, dinner stretching so far into the night it wouldn’t be reasonable to travel. Pin immediately offered to share a room with their mother for the night, vacating her bedroom for Teetee’s mom. That left Tee to crash in Por’s room, everything working out so smoothly Tee thought the ladies must have planned it.

“You really don’t mind not celebrating with the rest?” Por’s question brings Teetee out of his thoughts. He places two open cans of beer on the table in front of them and settles next to Teetee.

Teetee wraps an arm around his shoulders, bringing him closer, “I could not imagine a better night, Pip.”

“I hope your mom didn’t mind…she doesn’t feel like I stole you away, right?”

“I’m sure she’s fine,” Teetee giggles and presses a soft kiss to the top of Por’s head, “Don’t overthink it.”

He stretches his free arm to pass Por one of the cans. Once Por takes it from his hand he reaches out for the other, then turns to cheer with Por. He locks eyes with Por and a spark passes between them, until they both giggle and turn to take swigs from their respective cans.

“I just don’t want to rob her of the little time she can spend with her son.” He’s looking up at Teetee in the way that makes him melt, holding the beer can between the tips of his fingers. He’s adorable. Teetee cannot get enough of him.

“Well,” Teetee drawls, and he’s trying really hard to keep his face neutral. He fails almost immediately, huge grin splitting his face, “You are her son too, you know. Son-in-law.” He punctuates the last bit by booping Por’s nose with his, grinning like crazy.

It’s been a joke of the evening, in one way or another. Teetee felt like Mae Ple was getting a particular kick out of it, telling Por that now all he needs to do is ask and she will have a ring ready for him. Despite feeling horribly embarrassed about it all, Teetee did think it was kind of nice — finding more family since leaving home, rather than losing it. That there were people who accepted him with love and open arms, as one of their own.

“Aow,” Por slaps his shoulder lightly in a fake offense, “I thought you weren’t ready for a serious commitment.”

Teetee scrunches his eyebrows in confusion, searching Por’s face for a clue as to what he might be alluding to. Por must read the confusion on his face, because he puts his can down and turns his body towards Teetee. Teetee’s hand slides off of his shoulder in the process, down to his waist and he would be a fool if he did not use this opportunity to wrap it securely around Por’s waist.

“You said you weren’t ready to be a parent to Bok Bear,” and Teetee is pretty sure Por is teasing him, despite the little scowl currently adorning his face. “You leave me alone with a child and still expect me to be your family?”

“Piiiiip!” Teetee whines, buries his head in the crook of Por’s neck and nuzzles there. When he peeks back up, Por is still sulking but there’s mischief in his eyes.

“I thought we both agreed to be his brothers. It was mutual,” he tries to sound extra pitiful so Por takes mercy on him.

Luckily, Por does and Teetee feels the pads of Por’s fingers lightly tap the top of his head, “There, there you puppy. Yes it was mutual.”

And because Teetee loves flirting with Por more than he loves self-preservation, he blurts out “I just want to hold out until our actual kids.”

Por shoves him for real now, so hard a bit of beer comes splashing out of Teetee’s can. Teetee just throws his head back laughing, a little embarrassed with his own lack of filter. When he looks back, Por’s ears are red and he looks mortified, eyes scrunched shut.

“Tee I swear if this is one of those ‘I can get you pregnant’ jokes”

That only makes Teetee laugh harder, waving his hand in dismissal because wow, Por really went there. And it’s a thought for sure. Teetee is not sure if he’s really into it, but he’s also not not into it? Or perhaps he’s just so into Por that there is very little that could actually throw him off.

His ears feel warm now, too, but he doesn’t really mind.

“Hm,” Por hums, and his head drops to Teetee’s shoulder, “I don’t know, we’d have to get married first.”

And he’s teasing him, Teetee knows, but his heart still leaps to his throat. Teetee gulps, and he cannot believe the words that are about to tumble out of him.

“It wouldn’t be so bad,” he admits quietly, “if it was with you.”

Por peers up at him, moving his head slightly to see Teetee’s face better. He seems to be looking for something in Teetee’s expression, only to chuckle.

“You puppy,” and his tone is almost reprimanding, “you still throw a tantrum wanting to be the youngest.”

“I don’t mean now. Or even in the next five years.” Teetee defends quickly. He knows he’s too young to think about this seriously, to even consider the implications in any sort of reasonable manner. But still, imagining that sort of future with Por fills his chest with warmth, and he tells Por as such. “Still, I like the idea of us as a family I guess.”

Por is still looking at him, and he seems to finally believe what Teetee is sure is written all over his face. Conviction. Sincerity. A whole lot of devotion. “You want to marry me?”

“Yeah.” And god, Teetee really does. He feels drunk with the knowledge of it. He would love to attribute to the beer, but he barely even touched it. He finally drops it on the table next to Por’s, then turns back to hold his hands.

Por is silent, waiting — so Teetee finds the courage to keep talking.

“When we are ready, I will take you back to the beach. Here, or wherever you’d like.” The words are tumbling out of him as they are emerging in his mind for the first time, but he means them no less. “And I’ll get on one knee and ask you to spend your life with me.”

The last words come out a bit strained, and Teetee realises he’s getting choked up, his eyes feel misty too. Por seems no better, eyes locked with his, glassed over and slightly red rimmed.

“And after, I want us to get our own place by the beach,” Teetee continues, because now that he’s started, he sees so many plans for the future, “we can go there when we feel tired, or when you get sick and need to rest.”

And isn’t that a wonderful dream, Teetee thinks. No, a plan. If Por will have him.

There are quiet tears sliding gently down Por’s cheeks and Teetee really hopes they are happy ones. “What do you think, ter?”

He finally pauses long enough to think maybe this is all too much. That Por might reject him, not because he doesn’t love him, but because it’s simply way too soon. Then Por’s hand touches his face, and the doubts dissolve as quickly as they emerged.

Por’s eyes are sparkling and he’s so, so beautiful. In place of an answer, he pulls Teetee closer until their lips meet in a soft kiss.

When they part, Por gives him a small smile then slowly nuzzles his nose into the curve of Teetee’s cheek. “I love you.”

He kisses Teetee again, just for good measure, then adds softly, “I’d love that, very much.”

Teetee’s chest fills with warmth, relief, and love. “I love you so much.” He leans back to pepper kisses all over Por’s face, “so, so much.”

He feels like floating, so happy with the idea of spending the rest of his life with Por. That Por wants it too, sees the vision and loves it just as much. He pulls Por for another kiss, simply because he can. Teetee’s crying now too, he realises, when he feels wetness on his own cheeks and tastes salt in his mouth.

He pulls away slowly, “P’Por?”

“Hm?”

“Did we just get engaged?”

And the question must catch both of them off guard. They burst into small, wet sounding giggles, bodies folding into one another.

“Let’s wait until we are older,” Por says when their laugh settles, gazes fixed on the steady movement of the waves in the distance, “maybe I’ll propose to you.”

And Teetee just laughs because yeah, he can see it go either way. One day, they might need to race each other to the altar. Although Por would probably let Teetee take front and centre for that.

“You know, being a husband would really add to my hia factor,” Teetee muses.

“Okay, I think it’s time for this puppy to go to bed.”

And because Teetee loves being naughty, he levels Por with a stare and pitches his voice slightly lower, “or this puppy could take you to bed. Show you what good boys can do just to please.”

Por pushes Teetee’s forehead away with the tip of his pointer finger but doesn’t rebuff him.

All in all, it turns into quite a great night.
