Chapter Text
Chloe was standing in the lobby of the Hotel Estrella. It seemed to be composed mainly of marble and glass. Every guest she saw looked like they had either just stepped off a runway or were on their way to a high powered business meeting. She was willing to bet no-one on a cop's salary ever stayed here.
She had a growing feeling that she didn't belong in a place like this, something simpler would make her feel more comfortable. At the very least she was decidedly underdressed. In contrast Lucifer was leaning nonchalantly, one elbow on the reception desk, waiting patiently and looking as though he owned the place. She gazed around, eyes falling on one shiny surface after another. When she looked back in his direction he was watching her. He smiled and she stepped over to him, already feeling much more at home.
Handing over a keycard to the customer in front of him, the young man behind the desk turned his attention to Lucifer. "How can I help you Sir?" Lucifer turned on his charming smile. "Lucifer. Morningstar."
"Oh yes, we were expecting you last night. There's a question here as to whether you were coming," he said looking at his screen.
Chloe was doing a mental countdown to the enevitable innuendo, but it never came. He merely smirked at her. "I'm afraid we were waylaid by last night's storm and forced to make an unscheduled stop. I trust our suite is still available."
"Yes of course Sir, everything is ready for you." He inched his fingers closer to Lucifer's. "If there's anything else, anything at all?" Chloe rolled her eyes.
Lucifer pulled his hand back sliding their keycards off the desk. "We are a little short on time this morning. Perhaps you could have some breakfast sent up to the room?" He nodded. "Right away Sir."
"And Matthew is it?" he said eyeing the man's name tag. "Yes."
"Might we reserve a table for this evening?"
"That's already arranged. Complimentary with the penthouse suite."
"Lovely."
In their suite which was the size of an apartment, there was a large living area and two bedrooms with large windows all along one side of the suite, the morning light flooding in. Chloe came back out of her bedroom. "Lucifer there's one bathroom." He gave her a wide toothy grin and waggled his eyebrows. "Yes." She narrowed her eyes but he laughed. "I'm kidding, go on, take your shower first."
Chloe showered quickly. Lucifer was right about one thing, they didn't have a lot of time. Her stomach rumbled when the smell of breakfast reached her and she realised how hungry she was, not having eaten much since lunch the day before.
While Lucifer was in the bathroom she tucked into a plate of french toast and bacon. The food was delicious and she began to consider a plan for their evenings here because this place was definitely not her. Her phone beeped with several notifications as it came back to life on the charger.
