Work Text:

Nothing. That’s what she felt. This is how the world should be, she thought.

It had been around a week since the flour of volition had corrupted. Greedy cookies. She gave them everything. Wanted to make them feel accepted, loved.... but they didn’t care about that. The only way she could help them was by feeling nothing. Apathy. Sadly this meant that she also couldn’t feel love anymore.

Mystic flour cookie, that’s how she had called herself. Why were cookie driven by selfish desires? After all she only wanted to help and protect them.

She sat on the floor of the now destroyed, trashed temple. Her cocoon had been sliced open while she was in it hoping to find a new way. The remains of it were scattered around.

A small Haetae was lying beside her; cloud Haetae cookie. She had seen them grow up, their mother being one of he pagodas greatest protectors. Sadly, she had been killed in this ambush. The cookie was crying softly. Having just lost its mother meant they were alone now. At least their master was still alive, even if she changed.

“I can stay here right?” Cloud Haetae Cookie said sniffling. Mystic flour cookie looked down at them and nodded.

“Yes, you can. You shall be just as great as a protector as your mother.” She said in a detached voice. The smaller cookie nodded and wiped away their tears.

“I will make sure of it!” They said. Mystic flour cookie gave them some head scratches before replying.

“I know you will.” The words felt foreign. She didn’t want them to stay. She didn’t want them to see her fall deeper into corruption.

Her white robes were draped around her on the floor. It was messy now. But she didn’t care. It was useless. Why would you care about a piece of fabric?

“Maybe, you should leave.” Mystic flour cookie said as she went and removed her hand from Cloud Haetae Cookie their head. Noticing it the smaller cookie quickly reached out to the hand and put it on their head again with a soft smile.

“Don’t worry master! I’ll stay! Even when you are no longer here I’ll protect the pagoda!”

Cloud Haetae cookie was sitting on the pagoda entrance. The war was over. Dark Enchantress Cookie was no more. But, their master hadn’t returned yet. They waited days and nights, through the rain, through snow and through storms. Never loosing hope that she’ll show up.

She never did. But cloud Haetae kept on clinging to the smallest bit of hope. They would just have to keep protecting the pagoda. They would keep it clean. They would do everything so it would be perfect for once mystic flour cookie returned.

If only the small cookie knew that she had fallen in the war and that she wouldn’t return to the pagoda.

Notes:

Randomly thought about these two. I absolutely love both characters so I decided to write some light angst, if you can even call it that idk. Hope you enjoyed it!
