I have a Dam problem

Summary:

After his claiming, Percy thought that his life couldn't possibly get more complicated but Fate seems really determined to prove him wrong.

Now he, along with the rest of camp, gets to sit down and read about his future without the necessary context to truly understand what the fuck is happening.

Or a camp half blood reads the books with a bit of a twist.

Notes:

Bold - parts of the Percy Jackson and the heroes of Olympus books

Italics - either Percy's thoughts or the note

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

The next morning, Chiron moved me to cabin three.

I didn't have to share with anybody. I had plenty of room for all my stuff: the Minotaur's horn, one set of spare clothes, and a toiletry bag. I got to sit at my own dinner table, pick all my own activities, call "lights out" whenever I felt like it, and not listen to anybody else.

And I was absolutely
miserable.

Just when I'd started to feel accepted, to feel I had a home in cabin eleven and I might be a normal kid-or as normal as you can be when you're a half-blood-I'd been separated out as if I had some rare disease.

That day at dinner, a white light filled the dining pavilion and left behind a small book with a note attached to it in front of Chiron.

Mr. D took one look at it and left so quickly you'd think someone was chasing him.

“Chiron? Is everything alright?” Asked Luke.

The campers exchanged uneasy glances. The son of Poseidon drama pushed to the side for the moment.

“Yes, I'm afraid there won't be a regular campfire tonight,” his eyes were wide while reading what was written. “The Gods have given us a task.”

Is he serious? How does the guy manage to answer without actually answering anything?

“Ahem, ’Dear Chiron and Campers, a rare opportunity is in front of you in the shape of a book. There are two chapters inside, filled with glimpses of the future and the only thing connecting them is a single joke. We hoped that would strike a balance between important information and humour. We urge you to read it and think about what you learned. You won't get more than that. Sincerely, The Fates.’

Surely someone is playing a prank on us, right? There is no way the gods are so bored they're giving us spoilers for the future.

I didn't know who looked more shocked. Us or Chiron.

“Okay, if everyone is done eating, let's just gather around the campfire and I will read what The Fates sent us.”

Thank God Chiron was the one reading, I don't know if my dyslexia or my social anxiety would've killed me first if I had to read out loud for everyone to hear.

We went to the campfire and sat down after lighting it. Chiron took the book, cleared his throat and started reading.
