   “Am I keeping you, Vincent?” Alastor hummed, leaning back in his seat. “Somewhere else you’d rather be?”

   The questions made Vincent’s head spin. Was Alastor keeping him? He hoped so; that was what tonight was all about, wasn’t it? Was Alastor keeping him here? Yes; his gaze had Vincent pinned against his chair like a bug against a corkboard. Did he like it? Also yes. Would he rather be somewhere else? Only if Alastor was there too. Only if Alastor was chasing him. Catching him. Killing him. Keeping him.

   He squirmed under that piercing gaze, struggling to find his words in the way he only ever did around one specific person. “Just—Just excited, I guess.”
