“Amy, I excel at many things but getting over you wasn’t one of them.”
14 words. Those 14 words did something to her that no other pain in this whole world couldn’t compete with.
She thought she had gone through all kinds of sufferings in her not so memorable past until this.
The abuse and control from her mother, callous bullying by her schoolmates, feeling lonely, insecure and being excluded from activities that peers her age usually participate in.
The words that came from Sheldon’s mouth felt as if invisible bullets were shot directly at her heart.
She really enjoyed her day at the aquarium with him. It felt like the olden times, chatting about recent events, him inventing a game and complaining about babies.
She thought she could’ve spent this day with him without all these unwanted feelings percolating within her. After all she had been the one to terminate this relationship.
But guess what, she couldn’t. So after thinking about it relentlessly at her mother’s house, she decided to pose the question.
Oh how she regretted it already…
“I think I need to just be your friend.” The voice came from her phone. Great, more bullets.
She genuinely thought that he wanted this too. How irrational she was. This is Sheldon we were talking about, not some common guy.
Her throat had already started to hurt from the sobs she had been holding, and in a melancholic voice, she uttered “Oh okay, I understand.”
Damn it, why did her voice have to crack in between the sentence?
She didn’t know what more to say than that. Just as she was thinking of hanging up the call, he said something about eating SpongeBob. Great, he was still in the game.
She responded with an “Okay sure.”
She hurriedly cut the call as she felt the tears flowing already. Good thing no one can see me except maybe for the guy at the bus stop ahead.
She started to sob uncontrollably when she suddenly remembered that she was still driving. She was unable to see what was in front of her clearly because of the tears.
All of a sudden, a truck from the left lane was rapidly crossing through the intersection.
Shakily mopping up her tears she quivered “No no..”
Then, after an abrupt screech by the tire, a crash followed.
BAMM!!
Amy was doing her best to slow down the car, but it was too late. The car crashed onto the truck on the left side of the car, where she was unfortunately sitting, in a brutal manner.
The car rolled over, zooming. She knew that this was it, the end. She felt the piercing pain on her skull as she was already starting to say her goodbyes to everyone.
Once she said her internal goodbyes to her five friends, the ones who welcomed a lonely, insecure, robotic, peculiar girl into their quirky group, then came Sheldon.
It’s going to be the hardest thing she ever has to do. Saying goodbye to the man who changed her life and her views on love.
She had always thought that romantic relationships were a frivolous thing to have until he came along. She still couldn’t get over that fuzzy, warm feeling that constricted in her stomach whenever he was present in the same room as her.
Now he can live his life peacefully, just as he did before she came along. With his friends playing video games, dungeons and dragons, Klingon boggle and many more.
He wouldn’t even have sat in a car where she was driving if he knew that an incident like this is going to occur.
The pain on her skull and eventually, the other parts of her body, were getting more and more intense, but all she wanted to think about was the man she loved with all of her heart and soul. No relationship termination could end that.
If she died, and she will for sure, she would want to say this out loud. This should be her last words, no more internal goodbyes and all.
With all of the strength she can grasp, she was starting to mumble it. Fast, Fowler!
“I….” She started “I lo-love you Shel-”
No! She wanted to complete this! It can’t end like this!
But unfortunately, it ended just like that. Before she could complete the sentence, she had gone black whilst hearing muffled noises behind her.
