They missed the Halloween party entirely and none of them knew, not one of them, that it had been the last holiday they would spend altogether alive. Not because Halloween was important because it wasn’t but later, after everything, Amy would remember Leonard falling over scattered research and Penny swearing and Sheldon apologizing in a cape and she would understand that grief did not preserve only the grand meaningful moments. It also reached back for the stupid ones. The interrupted ones. The evenings that had seemed too ordinary to count.
