Chapter Text
Sheldon was already in bed, when Leonard joined him. “You still awake, Shelly?” He asked sweetly. Softly. Gently.
“Yes.” Sheldon replied, moving to sit up so he could sit close to Leonard’s level. “In case you’re wondering—which, you may not be, that’s always a possibility—I’ve been thinking.”
“Oh, yeah?” He creased his eyebrows and moved to set his glasses down on his nightstand. “What about?”
“Something.” He looked away slightly.
“What something?” Leonard very curiously asked, hand roaming for Sheldon’s.
“Us.” Sheldon felt Leonard squeeze his hand slightly. This action caused him to return his gaze to Leonard, but this only lasted a few seconds.
“What about us?” Leonard’s tone remained as neutral as possible, but it wasn’t easy. When Sheldon didn’t respond, Leonard moved a little closer. “Sheldon?”
“Leonard, you know who my mother is. More specifically: what kind of person she is.”
“Yeah. What do you mean?” As soon as he asked, it hit him like a truck. “Oh.” He mumbled to himself. “She doesn’t know, does she?” His expression softened. Sheldon shook his head, barley noticeable.
Silence.
“W-well, if it helps, my mom’s only response was ‘Shocking. How have you been able to come to terms with your homosexual love towards a man, but your other friends haven’t?’” Leonard smiled softly. “We know she wasn’t taking about you when she said ‘your other friends’.” Sheldon couldn’t contain his smile.
“Well, that’s just it, Leonard. You’ve been able to tell your mother, but mine doesn’t even know about us the night the heat went out when we were—”
“Yeah, my mother doesn’t know about that. It’s probably for the best, though.” Sheldon moved to lean onto the shorter man while listening to him speak; Not minding the fact that he was cut off. Leonard chuckled softly and placed a soft kiss to his partner’s head. “You’ll find a way to tell her.” He spoke so softly that even Sheldon’s “Vulcan hearing” could barely hear him.
Sheldon let put a soft hum before speaking. “Well, I’m tired, Leonard. Let’s further explore this conversation tomorrow.” He mumbled while moving to lie down.
“Okay. Night Sheldon.” Leonard moved to place another kiss, but only this time on Sheldon’s cheek.
“Goodnight, Leonard.” Sheldon adjusted, pulling the blanket up to his chin.
