Our non-perfect but perfect family

Summary:

Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru would have never imagined they'd become parents as soon as they turned 18 years old, but there they were, with four chaotic but wonderful children.

Maybe they didn't know what they were doing most of the time, but they certainly were trying their best. Because even if it was unexpected, there was no one in this world who loved their kids as much as they did.

Notes:

Aaaand it's me again with yet another Satosugu fic! I'm really obsessed with these two, they're my everything. I don't know if this will remain as a one-shot or I'll add more chapters in the future, I'll have to think about that.. But I absolutely adore the concept of Satosugu raising their happy little family without drama involved.

So, I wrote this between my breaks from studying, because writing really makes me feel better about everything. I hope whoever reads this will enjoy it! ❤️❤️

Work Text:

“Satoru, I’m panicking right now.” Geto’s voice could be heard from the phone speaker, sounding agitated and nervous “Where are you anyways? Stop wandering around and get your ass back here!”

It had already been a month since Satoru and Suguru took the Fushiguro siblings under their care, plus a pair of twin girls. After the two strongest sorcerers almost died by the hands of the same man (Gojo technically died by Toji’s Inverted Spear of Heaven) and Geto was seconds away of commiting genocide (Thanfully stopped by a call he got from Satoru just when he was about to throw it all to hell), the six of them had become a family of sorts. Even with Satoru and Suguru being barely adults themselves.

They still had to finish their last year of education at Jujutsu High, but it was proving to be a challenge due to all the responsibilities both men carried. Apparently, it wasn’t enough for the higher ups to almost lose two of their best assets, so they continued giving them a bigger and messier workload, usually assigning them individual jobs that normally would be addressed by at least a couple sorcerers. Apart from that, they had to attend school and pass their exams if they didn’t want Yaga up their asses, with Satoru warming Suguru up to the idea of becoming teachers, they really had to give their all and more.

And if you add four children to the equation, it all becomes an uncontrollable chaos. Suguru didn’t think there was any other word to describe his life right now. Satoru and him weren’t even dating when they took the kids in! Like, yeah, they cared a lot about each other and maybe shared kisses and more, but they hadn’t made it official. Thankfully that changed as soon as the kids started to get comfortable around them, making some sort of diabolic plan Suguru didn’t know some little ones could come up with, and getting them together. Not that he regretted it, though, his little matchmakers helped him and his best friend understand they liked each other as something more than that, and he’d forever be grateful to them for allowing him to have Satoru in his life as his boyfriend.

But as much as Suguru loved the white haired man, he wanted nothing more than to strangle him right now “I won’t repeat myself, Satoru. Where. are. you.”

“I was being scolded by Yaga, I’m sorry.” Suguru could hear the true regret in Satoru’s voice, which made him feel kinda guilty.

“He says I’m slacking off more than usual, can you believe that?! All I did was reject one mission!”

Suguru sighed, trying to keep his cool. He really hated those higher-ups “Satoru, you know Yaga-Sensei scolds you out of obligation, he’s angrier than anyone that they have us working as dogs. But he can’t do much, you know that, he’s trying.”

“I knooooooow, but I’m just so tired. Like I know I’m the strongest, cool, but I have a family now, duh! Insensitive assholes…”

Suguru warmed up at Satoru’s words, he absolutely adored Satoru referring to them as a family “I understand your frustration, babe. They make me upset too.”

“Why were you calling anyway? You sound like you’re about to kill someone, please don’t.”

Suguru rolled his eyes even if Satoru couldn’t see him from the other side of the line “It’s Megumi, he’s been quieter than usual this morning, and he hasn’t moved a centimeter from where he sat at the couch when he woke up. He also refused to eat breakfast, said he wasn’t hungry. I don’t know if he’s sick.”

“Oh.” Was all Satoru could say for a long minute, he didn’t usually get sick, apart from the occasional migraines due to the toll on him his Six Eyes technique took. So he didn’t really know how to act in these cases, having always viewed sickness as a weakness, something the strongest didn’t have to worry about “Have you called Shoko?”

“Actually- No, I haven’t. Oh gosh I’m so stupid.” Suguru dragged a hand through his face, pinching the bridge of his nose to ground himself, a nervous act he never grew out of “Still, come back soon, okay? I’m trying my best here so the girls don’t bother Megumi as he rests, but you know how they are.”

“Sure, I’m already close anyways. See you soon, love ya!”

“Hm, love you too.” Suguru then hung up the phone, walking once again to Megumi’s side. “Hey Megs, how are you feeling?”

“Not well…” The boy said in a little, weak voice “My head feels weird, and I have something yucky in my throat.”

Probably nausea. Suguru thought.

“Okay, well. Don’t worry, Satoru and I will make sure you get better in no time, alright?” Suguru said with a soft smile, sitting next to Megumi “Remember Shoko?” He asked, and waited until the kid nodded to continue “She’s a doctor, a very good one. I’ll call her and she will check up on you.”

Megumi’s face automatically scrunched up “I don’t like doctors, I don’t wanna.” He curled up a bit more in the blankets, little face poking out of the bundle of fabric he had gotten himself in “Can’t she just give me candy?”

Suguru laughed at that. Shoko always brought lollipops with her everywhere she went, she may not have the enormous sweet tooth his partner has, but still. And she always made sure to give some candy to the children every time they saw her.

“She will give you candy if you behave during the check-up, Megs. Can you do that?”

Megumi still looked very against the idea of a check up, but the promise of candy was enough to lure him in. He could pretend to be an aloof and emotionless little bastard, but he was still just a kid, and a kid couldn’t turn a blind eye to sweets.

Suguru ruffled Megumi’s hair, making sure he was comfortable enough as he called his friend. He was in the middle of the conversation when he remembered he had another three kids in the house, kids who suspiciously hadn’t waited for him at the door to receive him as soon as he turned in the key after leaving for a few minutes to buy some groceries and medicine in case Megumi needed it.

He quickly hung up, and turned his head around to look at Megumi. The boy’s eyes were dropping, clearly about to fall asleep. “Hey, kiddo. You know where your sisters are?”

“Tsumiki-nee is doing her homework, dunno about Mimi-chan and Nana-chan.” He shrugged, his little head lolling forward. Suguru smiled at the sight, helping Megumi lie down properly so he wouldn’t get neck pain later “Get some rest, Megs.”

“Mmm, thank you, papa.” Mumbled the boy as his eyes closed. Suguru felt like his heart was going to explode of cuteness, as Megumi always refused to call him or Satoru dad or papa, which Suguru understood. After all, he had had a real father for four years, even if he wasn’t present and it wasn’t much time for a toddler to remember. But in these situations when Megumi felt vulnerable, like the time Suguru held him all night after a bad nightmare, he let his guard and walls down and called him ‘papa’. When the same thing happened with Satoru, he was called ‘daddy’.

As Suguru was in the middle of getting up to check on the twins, he heard the sound of the door opening. Satoru entered the home quietly, something he definitely was not, but Suguru had warned him about the state of his now son, so he had to be very careful. “Hey, how’s the brat?”

“He’s passed out.” Suguru pointed at the couch “I was about to check on the girls, I haven’t seen them since I left earlier to buy some stuff.”

“Oh, I’m scared.” Satoru laughed while dropping his bag on the coffee table and his uniform jacket over a chair.

“Yeah yeah, laugh all you want. I’m genuinely scared. And do not just drop your things everywhere, Satoru. I’m tired of cleaning after you!” Satoru just giggled at that, ignoring Suguru in the face as he wandered to God knows where in the house.

Suguru heard some more giggling, from voices that clearly didn’t belong to a grown man, and figured he had already found who he was looking for.

Entering the bathroom, he saw a scene both heartwarming and terrifying. The twins had their faces covered in make-up and their hair done, an absolute disaster, but they still looked cute, and the make-up they used was adapted to be used by children, thankfully.

Looking at the side, he saw Tsumiki, a five year old, looking suspiciously guilty. “Miki, did you do the twins’ make-up?” The girl nodded shyly, “Megumi told me you were doing your homework.” And by homework he meant the tasks he had given her himself, as the children were home-schooled to remain most of their time within Tengen’s barriers, the safest place for them. So with Yaga’s help, Satoru and Suguru were in charge of the kids’ education.

“And I was, papa.” Tsumiki nodded, browsing through her things until she found what she was looking for “Here! I finished everything! I did most of it yesterday.” Suguru grabbed the sheet, and gave a hum of affirmation, which Tsumiki took as a sign to continue speaking “Mimi-chan and Nana-chan told me they wanted to be princesses, so I helped them!”

Suguru smiled, his eldest was so sweet, he couldn’t imagine the girl ever hurting a fly. “You know I like seeing you get along so well with your sisters, Tsumiki. But remember the rules for the make-up games? You can only play when either me or daddy are present, or you could hurt yourself.”

“But you were in the house…” Tsumiki started protesting

“I was, yes. But you three mischievous girls hid in the bathroom as soon as I left and didn’t tell me what you were going to do.” He playfully poked Tsumiki’s nose, making her pout disappear “I don’t like scolding you, Miki. But you have to understand this isn’t how you should behave.”

Tsumi nodded, feeling guilty as she stared at the ground “I’m sorry, papa. I won’t do it again.”

“We won’t do it either!” Chirped the twins, tugging on Suguru’s sleeve “Please, papa. Don’t ground us…” Mimiko mumbled, she was the quietest of the pair, but knew how to use the power of the puppy eyes.

Suguru sighed in defeat, he didn’t have the heart to deny his girls anything “I don’t want to, but-

“Who’s talking about grounding my princesses, huh?! I heard you’re looking very pretty today!” Satoru burst into the room, loud and obnoxious, making a beeline towards the twins and lifting them up in his arms “Would you look at that, you two look so pretty. You’re a great artist, Tsumiki-chan!”

“Satoru…” Suguru began, but was quickly stopped by a look of Satoru that said: Don’t worry, I’ll handle this. And Suguru believed him, Satoru could act like a clown most of the time, but he had much more to himself than that.

“Listen here, you three. As much as you guys are going to probably be make-up professionals one day, you’re still too young, you know? Your brother is sick, Suguru and I have to take care of him.” At that, Tsumiki perked up, worry evident on her face “Megumi is sick?”

“Yeah, but he’ll be all well soon, he’s a strong boy.” Satoru smiled, pulling his sunglasses up so the children could see his eyes “But we can’t be watching over you girls as usual today, because Megumi needs us, you understand? So please, no make-up until your brother feels better.”

Tsumiki and the twins nodded, looking absolutely serious, which made both Satoru and Suguru laugh “Very well! Now go clean your faces, okay? Lunch is soon.” With a collective yell of “Yes, daddy!” the kids went directly to the sink to do as they were told “See? Told you I got this.” Satoru winked to his boyfriend, too proud of himself.

“Yeah, whatever… Go look after Megumi as I prepare lunch and wait for Shoko.” Satoru pouted at that “Megs’ asleep, can’t I help you-

“Absolutely not. You’re banned from the kitchen, remember? You’re not setting foot there, I’d appreciate it if our house doesn’t become ashes after owning it for a mere month, thank you very much."

Satoru looked offended, pouting in full force as he tried his own dose of puppy eyes on his partner “You have so little faith in me, Sugu-chan! I assure you I can prepare delicious sandwiches-

“No you can not. And also, we’re having soup and something light today. Maybe if Megumi watches all of us eating the same thing, he’ll also eat.” Satoru nodded begrudgingly “Okay, that makes sense..”

Suguru smiled, sometimes his boyfriend was even more childish than their literal children, but it was charming in his own way. He placed his arms around Satoru’s waist, and gave him a quick peck on the lips, which Satoru reciprocated happily with a chaste kiss of his own before going to tend to Megumi.

--------------------------

The rest of the day wasn’t very exciting, Shoko arrived at their house when the family was having lunch, and declared that Megumi had caught a cold, and would be fine with a couple of days of resting.

The boy spent most of the time sleeping, fighting the illness on his own. Waking up to go to the bathroom and eat and drink a little bit because Suguru was concerned he would dehydrate and feel even worse without any food in his stomach.

Satoru was given the task of helping the twins how to read and write, they were barely four years old, but Yaga told them to start teaching them the basics early, so they could learn at their own pace and it didn’t feel rushed. Both boys felt it was weird how much Yaga seemed to know about early parenting, as the man himself didn’t have any children as far as they were concerned. But they took all the advice and help they could get anyways, raising kids while you’re kinda a kid yourself is tough work after all.

At night, Suguru was reading the twins a bedtime story (Tsumiki was already asleep) when Satoru entered the room with a sleeping Megumi in his arms “He’s a bit warm, Shoko said it was normal but I’m kinda worried, can I take him to our bed?”

Suguru sighed “Satoru, don’t lie to my face. I know you love cuddling the children, and Megumi never wants to. You’re taking advantage of his sickness.” He said as he left Nanako and Mimiko’s room to have their conversation without waking them up.

“Okay, a part of that is true. But look at him…” Megumi’s little face was sweaty and scrunched up, he was probably having some kind of nightmare, as the boy was propense to those. “I won’t be able to rest knowing he’s in his bed all alone like this!”

“Who would say the great and oh so powerful Gojo Satoru would be so worried about a kid someday?” Suguru chuckled “Didn’t you use to say they were dirty and noisy brats?”

“Yeah, and they are.” Satoru hummed as he pushed Megumi’s bangs away from his face “But these children are…

“Ours.” Suguru finished for him, embracing his boyfriend and kid in a big hug, rubbing gentle circles on Megumi’s back. “I’m sure the past versions of ourselves would be so freaked out if they knew what we have become.”

“Doting fathers and powerful sorcerers in a relationship with their other half? I think they would be proud.” Satoru winked. And Suguru didn’t know if it was because of the situation, with Megumi sick and his exhaustion after a long day, but he felt so loved and stressed at the same time he pressed his lips to Satoru’s, hands tightening on his waist that would have gotten them to a very different activity if it wasn't for the bundle of joy in the Six-eyes user’s arms. “Let’s go to sleep, baby.” He mumbled instead. At which Satoru simply nodded before following Suguru to their bedroom, trying to hide the pink in his ears.

--------------------

After a couple of days, just as Shoko said, Megumi’s cold was nowhere to be seen. And he was back to being openly grumpy and grouchy. Satoru always complained at how difficult of a kid the boy was, but Suguru was sure he also felt reassured their son was acting as he always did instead of spending the day asleep and feverish.

“Suguruuuuu, Megumi is being mean!” Satoru whined from the living room, hand on his chest dramatically

“M’ not.” Megumi argued back, little arms crossed over his chest, he looked so cute trying to act all grown up. Even if Suguru hoped he could act more like a child his age sometimes “What happened?” He asked his boyfriend

“He doesn’t want to call me daddy!” Satoru fake-cried, squeezing a deadpanned Megumi in his arms “Don’t be so cruel, Megumi-chan. You had no problems calling me daddy yesterday!”

“It’s not the same!” Megumi squirmed a bit, trying to show his anger “I was sick, I had a col!”

“Cold, buddy, it’s called a cold.” Suguru laughed, sitting on the sofa next to his boys “Don’t bother him anymore, Satoru. Megumi will call you whatever he’s comfortable with, you have to respect that.”

“And I do. But still.” Satoru pouted, hugging his son against his chest.

Just in that moment, Tsumiki entered the room, a twin in each hand. And run directly towards the sofa, climbing onto Satoru’s lap “It’s okay! You can still be our dad if Megumi doesn’t want to, daddy!”

“Awww, my princesses are really the cutest!” Satoru cooed as he peppered the girls’ faces with kisses.

“No fair!” Megumi suddenly yelled, calling everyone’s attention “He’s my daddy too!” He grumbled, suddenly looking at Suguru and reaching out to him “Fine, I’ll keep papa all to myself!” He declared as soon as he was picked up.

As the children started to fight for their fathers, Suguru and Satoru looked at each other. Gazes full of warmth and love, and they knew then that they had made the perfect choice when they decided to take these kids in.
