Work Text:
Life with Kafka has always been full of surprises, some you half expect and some that are so out of the ordinary. But you are supposed to get used to this, you're her prized secret, not even Elios's scripts know you by its text. You are her escape, her reason to keep searching for fear. The very reason she's doing her all in every hunter mission.
Even if her legs are agonizingly heavy with exhaustion, God she loves you so much she doesn't even know herself if that love has a limit but she doesn't bother looking for it. You find yourself dancing in the living room with her, casually swaying to the familiar melodies which are her very own violin and voice recordings no one knows about but you.
The soft glow of the orange sunset shines through the window and against the privacy blinds, making the living room look like a core memory. Kafka smiles at you with such warmth and gentleness that you can't help but giggle and return.
She gazes at your eyes with admiration and mirth, she pulls you close to her to where you feel the softness of her pale and dewy skin.
"My dear, what has you giggling so much..?" Her voice is a gentle murmur, a tone you've grown to adore, cherish, and care for.
"Oh, nothing.. I just can't help but feel so at ease.." Your voice draws out lazily. "I'm so happy to be here with you.."
Kafka smiles wholeheartedly. Her heart grows like how The Grinch's heart grows but only 100 times larger.
Kafka pulls your face close by a finger and leaves a peck on your lips. "Same here my love.. every fleeting hour that passes by I'm glad to spend every second of it with you."
You two keep dancing for what seems to be forever until the track on the phonograph ends with a fleeting harmony that fades out softly. She invites you to a bath which you accept almost immediately. She readies the bath with multiple oils and scents, candles and lights, rose petals and bath bombs that stain the water perfectly.
The scene never fails to amaze you. Kafka gets into the bath with a big sigh, which you soon follow. Her front is against your back as she hugs you from behind.
"you know.. I dont think I regard a moment where I was this close to someone.." Kafka hums, hugging your waist.
"and.. now that you do.. at this very moment.. how do you feel?"
"...safe. ironic, isnt it?.. I feel more safe with an IPC war criminal than with a police officer."
"that says a lot now and days. dont you think..?"
"mm."
Kafka leaves soft kisses on your shoulder.. "But.. regardless of my background.. You don't know how happy I am to hear you are safe.. even if it's with me, of all people.."
She holds your hand under the water, lifting it to its surface.. "I vow to get rid of those awful people that made you feel just as awful as they are.."
"..you always make me fall in love with you all over again.. but theres no need to kill.."
"It's one of my greatest feats," she pouts. "Unless.. they're already dead?" she coos.
"I assure you, I took care of that long before I met you."
She pauses to make sure what she heard was right and then you hear a hearty chuckle from her, seemingly amused that you would do such a thing. She places a kiss on your knuckles.
"atta girl."
