A Cracking Coco(o)n

Summary:

After the URA Finale, while Bitter Glasse is making some food, Little Cocon has a conversation that brings light to something she's denying.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

"Can't believe that whiny dummy beat us in the finale..."

Little Cocon's comment was cold, but fair. Her and Bitter Glasse were in the URA Finale Finals, having finished in 2nd and 3rd place, losing only to Winning Ticket. Little Cocon sighed, her left hand sitting on her desk and her right closing a bottle of nail polish. Bitter Glasse was scrolling her socials, replying to different posts. It was starting to near dinner time, and the two had been in their dorm since escaping the crowd (easier said than done considering the focus was on Ticket).

"Hey, you still did better than me! If it weren't for Kashimoto, I would be training right now!"

"I'm pretty sure, if you had the chance, you'd train until you passed out."

"You got me there all right! But you can't blame me! I just wanna do SOMETHING!"

"...You know, you could make some of your soba."

"You're right! I can go do that! Hah, I'ma see you in a bit! Assuming you're gonna come get some, of course."

Bitter Glasse flashed Little Cocon a cheeky smile, one that she only rolled her eyes to. Once she heard the door click shut, though, she sighed, feeling that stupid warmth come to her face again. Opening up her phone, Little Cocon snapped a quick pic of her nails, and opened up her text messages. Outside of the obvious choices, one contact stuck out amongst them all. This, of course, would be Tosen Jordan.

☆Jordan☆: oooo thoe are great

☆Jordan☆: *those

☆Jordan☆: darker shade than usual?

Little Cocon: Yes, I'm surprised you noticed.

☆Jordan☆: girl im not that dense

Little Cocon: Didn't you get a 15 on your last test?

☆Jordan☆: ok fine maybe im that dense

☆Jordan☆: but NOT with nails

☆Jordan☆: why the darker shade?

Little Cocon: I ran out of my usual shade. This was the closest I had.

☆Jordan☆: aaaah gotcha

☆Jordan☆: you should try to experiemtn with the colors

☆Jordan☆: *experiment

☆Jordan☆: i can give some recs

Little Cocon: I cannot assure I'd use any of them, but I don't mind some recommendation.

☆Jordan☆: sweet

☆Jordan☆: https://kokoistusa.com/collections/feature-1/products/bc-28-rosso-red-glass

☆Jordan☆: first off this color would be great to pop some more color

☆Jordan☆: you do mostly wear blues and it's a nice red

☆Jordan☆: theres also lighter shades you could use

Little Cocon: It reminds me off my roommate, if anything.

☆Jordan☆: glass?

Little Cocon: Yes, Bitter Glasse. She doesn't like nail polish, but the color much better fits her palette.

☆Jordan☆: i see i see

☆Jordan☆: i could also see purple working well

☆Jordan☆: lemme see if i can find a good one

Little Cocon: I never stated I disliked the color.

Little Cocon: It's pretty. A very pretty color.

☆Jordan☆: but you...

☆Jordan☆: WAIT

☆Jordan☆: do you like glasse?

☆Jordan☆: yknow

☆Jordan☆: like that?

Little Cocon: What would imply that I have feelings for Bitter Glasse?

☆Jordan☆: girl

☆Jordan☆: you just called that color pretty

☆Jordan☆: while also stating it reminds you of glasse

☆Jordan☆: also youre kinda always talking about glasse

Little Cocon: There's a lot I could say about Bitter Glasse.

Little Cocon: She does have some amazing soba, and she's making some right now.

☆Jordan☆: she won you over with food

Little Cocon: I would not say that. I am excited to eat it, of course, but she's nothing more than my roommate.

☆Jordan☆: girl be honest

☆Jordan☆: is there anything you feel towards glasse you dont towards anyone else

☆Jordan☆: like

☆Jordan☆: butterflies in ur stomach

☆Jordan☆: warmth in ur cheeks

☆Jordan☆: something like that

Little Cocon: I will admit to feeling things akin to that, but that doesn't mean anything.

☆Jordan☆: and ur calling ME dense

Little Cocon: I do not understand what you mean.

☆Jordan☆: YOU LIKE GLASSE

☆Jordan☆: IN A ROMANTIC WAY

Little Cocon: I do not think I do, though. Wouldn't romantic feelings come with high-detailed fantasies?

☆Jordan☆: doesnt have to

☆Jordan☆: look ur in love

☆Jordan☆: thats all i can say

Little Cocon: I will think about what you have said.

Little Cocon: Though, as I previously said, I do not think this is love.

☆Jordan☆: alr lets see then

☆Jordan☆: more denial than the river in egypt

☆Jordan☆: hell more denial than whatever me and city had going on at one point

Little Cocon scoffed, setting her phone down and shaking her head. Despite how stupid Jordan could be at times, she understood the appeal of nails quite well, being one of the very few Umas Cocon could strike a conversation with without a constant disagreement. Even then, Jordan could sometimes be a bit, well, much. Shaking her head, Cocon stood up, stretched, and looked towards the door. Some fresh air could do her good.

What Jordan had said was really sticking with Cocon, though. Her? Having feelings for Glasse? Despite having said that she doubted it was love, it was a little more realistic than she wanted to admit. Glasse's food was really good, and Cocon couldn't think of soba without thinking of her roommate. Actually, there was a lot more than she'd admit that made her think of the ball of energy that could be called her roommate. Including, of course, a rich, deep orange-red color. It was just... Glasse's color, in a way. And Cocon spent more time with Glasse than anyone else, of course.

In a way, the two were opposites. One cold, one warm. One extremely independent, one who always loved to chat. One on the fashion side of social media, one on the food side of social media. One with sharp green eyes, one with rich, purply-red eyes. One who has a small circle, and one with a large circle. They were opposites, and yet, they spent... a lot of time, together. Despite how independent she could be, Cocon could always rely on Glasse.

There was something about Glasse that had broken through to Cocon, and she had to admit that the compassion she had was something she very rarely felt she could let out. However, with Glasse, as the two had gotten closer, she felt more inclined to let that side out. Nowadays, it was easy to let that compassion out. In fact, it felt second-nature. The two were close enough for Cocon to feel comfortable with that. Maybe, there was something special between the two.

All this thinking has got Cocon really wanting some soba, though. She should go get some of Glasse's soba before someone tried to snag it all.

Notes:

yes cocon calls ticket a whiny dummy. also cocon and jordan are friends but not like besties or anything, they kinda only ever talk about nails and whatever drama is going on. nothing like what jordan and city have going on. glasse gets along with everyone, but especially the cooks and chefs. however, she's quite the independent when it comes to training, hence the whole being with kashimoto as a trainee. there's also an inherent irony of ticket being the winner of the ura finale considering jordan and ticket are roommates and somewhat close to each other.

we need more glasse x cocon and they will probably be one of my more written ships.
