A hand falls across her neck, unintentional yet warm.
Azula stirs, cracking one eye open. "Huh?" She murmured, half asleep. It took her a hot minute to realize that she had three hands when she was only supposed to have two.
"What?!"
Her head whipped around so fast she could've sworn she heard something crack. And there she was, in all her pink glory: Ty Lee.
Ty Lee snored lightly, as if she belonged in the princess's bed. Her hair was free from her usual braid, strands of brunette hair sticking to her face because of how warm it was. Well, it was the Fire Nation's princess. Of course her room would be all firey and hot.
Azula froze, her heart dropping to her stomach in seconds. She couldn't tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing. "WHAT?" She squealed, redness spreading from her cheeks to her ears. Her entire body burned, her heart threatening to leap out of her chest.
"What in the-" she yelps as an unconscious Ty Lee pulls her closer. She shivered at the feeling of Ty Lee’s breath against her neck. Her hands refused to let go of the pillow or mattress, because right now, that was the one thing anchoring her in reality.
Azula buries her face into the pillow, eyes wide as ever and her face is completely red. She can't believe what's going on.
Hours pass, and both Ty Lee and Azula seemed oddly content in each other's embrace. That is, until, morning arrives.
Ty Lee was always the early bird—she woke up earlier than anyone else just to stretch and do acrobat things. A "circus freak" must perform well, after all.
However, when the brunette wakes up and is met by the sight of her childhood crush, she can't help but freeze. Her blood turns cold and her limbs go numb. She tried not to wake the princess up, she really did try, but Azula seemed to stir awake and flutter one eye open. "Ugh, whatever." The princess had eyebags—unusual for someone who was supposed to be sleeping the entire night. Azula pulled Ty Lee impossibly closer, hiding her face into the acrobat's neck. Her warm breath felt so cool against Ty Lee's skin.
The brunette nearly gasps, but she knew better than to make noise. Instead, she slowly wraps her hands around Azula, one hand tangling itself in raven hair to soothe the tired princess.
"Good morning, Azula." She hums softly, pressing a risky kiss onto Azula's forehead.
