Work Text:

“Nevra! Breakfast is ready!”

Dawn said from the kitchen.

Nerva soon awoke in their bedroom, but as their eyes shot open, they felt a heavy weight on themselves. Nerva tosses over to their left side, but when they do, it's at a snail's pace compared to what it should be.

“What the hell?” Nerva says as they attempt to get out of bed. Even when they spoke, it was slower than normal. They soon thought to themselves.

“Has Phoebe accidentally put a spell on me again?”
That was their first conclusion, as this all seemed very strange and unlike anything they had experienced before. Nerva manages to get out of bed and is now standing, but each movement out of their room feels like they are walking in quicksand. Nerva soon had an idea.
They turned around and grabbed their wand from their bedside table and cast a familiar spell.

Soon, a blue portal slowly opened in the centre of Nerva’s room, and they thought to themselves.

“So magic works normally interesting” They then entered through the blue portal and soon came out of the kitchen door, a blue portal appearing and nerva soon walked through.

Nerva sat down at the breakfast table and was greeted with scrambled eggs on toast, while they would normally be fine with eating that, having to do so while everything was slow felt like it would be torture.

“So are you not hungry nerva?”
Dawn asked.

“I don’t feel like eating right now”

“Well, just put it in the microwave and have it for lunch then”

“Thanks, mum. By the way, have you noticed everything moving slowly?” As soon as the question left their lips, the world faded into darkness, and Nerva was suddenly lying in bed again as they awoke once more, hearing dawn call them for breakfast.

“What the…”
Nerva is left speechless as they stare at their bedroom ceiling in shock. They slowly sit up and think to themselves.

“This can’t be one of Phoebe's spells, then”

Nerva soon went and grabbed their phone from their bedside table and turned it on.
When powering the phone on, they found they had one unread message from Hatsune Miku on WhatsApp, and that they could use this phone without the slowdown.

“So technology is unaffected, strange”

Nerva decides to try something, they type a text message to Miku saying they are under the effects of a spell, yet before they could even hit send, they were sent back into their bed, lying their awake phone back on the bedside table.
After a while of testing nerva finds themselves still stuck in a time loop.

On the 10th loop nerva soon opened a blue portal in their bedroom and walked through it.

Nerva came out of the portal and into the cursed section of the library. They walked around until they could find a glossary of all the known curses. Nerva took the book and walked over to an empty table. Then, they began to slowly read the book. Nerva let out a sigh after a long hour of reading.

“Not a single mention of any curse that can slow down time and make a time loop”, Nerva thought to themselves. Nerva was unaware of the librarian standing behind them.

“Excuse me, are you struggling to find what you’re looking for?” the librarian asked.

Nerva turned their head around, but before they could answer, they were back in their bed, lying down and staring at the ceiling.

Nerva soon opens a portal and heads back into the kitchen. Nerva sits down at their breakfast and hears Dawn say

“Did you put the new stock in the stock room yesterday?”

Nerva absent-mindedly says

“yes”
“Good, there is some new stock to go in there today, don’t forget about that”

Nerva shrugs their shoulder and then gasps as they have an idea. Soon, they got up, leaving their breakfast uneaten, and opened a portal and headed into it. They entered their bedroom and walked into the middle of the room.

Nerva grabbed some crystals and placed them on the floor in a circle pattern. They then stood in the centre of it and thought to themselves.

“This curse-breaking spell should work”

Yet when they began to cast the spell, they felt that familiar pull send them back into bed.

Nerva soon sighed when they decided to check the stock room, as something in there might have something to help them. Nerva soon opens a portal and enters the stock room.

The stock room had floating shelves and chests; the only thing on the ground was the staircase leading into the stock room / basement. Nerva then paused as they remembered something.
“I was stocking magical artefacts yesterday, one of them must have caused it”, they thought to themselves.

Nerva casts the floating spell and flies into the air, but as they got closer to the magical artefacts section, they were suddenly back on the ground from before they had cast the spell. Nerva soon came up with a plan to bring the magical artefacts to them.

They pointed their wand up and into the air, and a blue glow emitted from it as boxes from the shelves came floating downwards and onto the ground. Nerva sighed a sigh of relief as they looked around the boxes and began their long search.

After a while of searching, they found a pocket watch that was spinning rapidly, and Nerva remembered having accidentally pressed it without thinking much of it at the time.

Nerva soon grabs the pocket watch and throws it to the floor. They then cast a spell to break it into little pieces. The change happened in an instant as the heavy weight feeling soon left Nerva, and they were free to move about at normal speed.

Nerva soon put all the boxes back on the magical artifacts shelf, and they opened a portal heading into it. Nerva entered the kitchen.

“Why did you leave in such a hurry Nerva?” Dawn asked.

“I was dealing with something that’s all”, Nerva responded.
Nerva soon sat down at the breakfast table and began to eat their scrambled eggs on toast.
