    Summary

Bodies is a contemporary seaside vampire tragedy set among arcades, clubs, bedsits and broken people.

Jodie is young, hungry and alone: a vampire cut loose from her coven, surviving on cash-in-hand night shifts at a failing south coast arcade and the occasional stolen mouthful of blood from gamblers too ashamed to remember her clearly. She shares a bed with Ash, an addict too lost in his own ruin to notice what she really is.

    Then Wayne appears.

Awkward, obsessive and dangerously perceptive, Wayne recognises Jodie for what she is and mistakes discovery for intimacy. What begins as fascination becomes devotion, surveillance, exposure and need. As Wayne’s fixation tightens around her life, Jodie’s fragile survival collapses into violence, betrayal and a final night at a club called Bodies, where every hunger in the story comes due.

Bleak, neon-lit and intimate, Bodies is a gothic tale of loneliness, addiction, obsession and the terrible difference between being seen and being loved.
