"What? What did you say Ice?"
"I said that i love you"
"Haha please, you can't be serious"
"Why?"
"It can't work Ice!"
"Yeah, sorry forget that i told you....Forget everything"
Iceman feel like he was dying of shame and he can't breath "What i was thinking! He probably laugh at me, or he is disgusted"
He can't stand Maverick's stare so he ran away.
"ICE WAIT!"
But the blond pilot had already go away, leaving Maverick with the feeling that he had ruined everything.
Back at his room, Maverick lay down on his bed, staring at the ceiling. "You chose the wrong person, Ice."
"You deserve better."
Well yes, he couldn't deny that he found him attractive.
Iceman is a really handsome guy, with his magnetic blue eyes and that body
More than once Maverick had found himself observing him during lessons. (And Goose had scolded him because he didn't pay attention)
But having a relationship with him? No
It would only have brought problems and Ice didn't deserve them.
"Now I'd better sleep," he said to himself. "We'll talk about it better tomorrow."
Unfortunately, the next day Iceman seemed to have disappeared, and on the rare occasions when Maverick ran into him, the blond pretended not to see him and walked away. "This certainly isn't very mature behavior, Mr. Top of the Class," he thought.
Trying to ignore the little voice in his head that said, "You're running away too."
But life at Miramar don't stop because some pilots have sentimental problems.
The day at the base had been hectic and it was time for their flight exercise.
Maverick took his place in the cockpit and suddenly all his thoughts vanished, there was only him and the jet.
He finally felt at home.
It was time to leave his problems behind and reach the sky he loved so much. "Ready, Goose."
"Whenever you are, Mav," his Wingman replied.
Maverick felt like he was having a bad nightmare. "It must be a nightmare, I'm going to wake up now." He said to himself as he felt panic rising.
A few hours ago he was in the sky with Goose.
Now he's in the hospital waiting room and Goose is fighting between life and death
Their jet had been in an accident and Goose had received a head injury.
Maverick saw a nurse arrive and immediately ran to her. "How is he? Can I see him? Please tell me he's alive?"
"He's alive, but he can't see you now; he's in intensive care."
"Come on, Mav, let's go back to the base." Carole had reached the hospital as soon as she heard the news.
"Yes, okay, I'll be there now."
"Everything is going to be okay" the nurse reassured him.
"We'll call you as soon as possible"
"Thank you."
Once outside the building, Maverick burst into tears in Carole's arms.
He couldn't even contemplate going on without Goose. "You'll see, Mav will make it."
"He has to make it... Because I don't think I can do it without him."
It had been almost a week since the accident, even though it seemed like years to Maverick.
Even doing the thing he loved most, Flying, feels like a torture without Goose
Everytime he entering in the cockpit he felt the anxiety rising.
And of course his performance suffered as a result.
"Hey how is Goose?"
Charlie had reached him on the landing strip.
"I don't know, still nothing from the hospital." the phone had been silent
"I'm sorry... Anyway, I heard Ice talking, he said they might ground you if... you don't feel like flying."
"It would be understandable given that horrible accident."
"WHAT?"
"How dare that asshole?
Maverick left the landing strip to head to the locker room.
"Maverick, wait!"
"Iceman! Now you're going to control my life too?"
"Who the fuck do you think you are?"
Iceman looked at him, puzzled. "What's wrong with you?"
"I heard you want me to stay on the ground! Oh, sorry I can't fly as well as you!"
"You're such an idiot Maverick! I was worried about you"
"What?" Maverick looked at him in the eyes.
"You and Goose had a terrible incident, and i'm worried that you can't keep you cool...i know you are a good pilot"
"I was trying to protect you" whisper Ice.
"Oh...I didn't know"
Iceman sigh "Listen, i know we have some trubles....But i care about you"
"Mav the hospital had call, we can see him"
Carole inform Maverick
"Sorry Ice i have to go"
"Yeah go to see him"
After Carole had saw her husband, She let some time for Maverick to see him
Maverick entered in the room and instantly hug his wingman
"Hey Mav i'm okay haha, it's all ok"
"Noo it's not! You are in a hospital room"
"I'll be fine"
"I was so worried!"
"I Know, I know but everything is going to be okay.
"I'm only need some time"
"You can fly with Iceman in the meantime"
"Ehm...About Iceman"
Goose roll his eyes "Please don't tell you two had fight again"
"Ehm... it's more complicated"
"Mav what happened? You are scaring me now"
Maverick leaned in to whisper, "He said he's in love with me."
"Oh wow, well, I didn't expect him to make the first move, but I'm not surprised."
"Aren't you happy?"
"I told him that a relationship between us can't work"
"What?? Why??"
"Because it's true Goose, I'm not cut out for a relationship."
"Yes because everytime things was going good with someone, you ran away"
""People who get close to me always end up suffering... And I don't want that to happen to Ice too."
Goose look at him worried "What are you saying Mav? This is not true"
"Yes It is! Look what happened to you"
But it's not your fault, Mav! It was an accident, no one could have predicted it.
"Look, okay, it happened. But I'm still here, a little bruised, but I'm here." Goose take Maverick's hand
"And I will never abandon you, Maverick."
"I Know Goose, thank you"
Goose smile at him "Now go to talk with Ice"
"And don't even try to say you don't have a crush on him, I've seen the way you look at him."
"Is it really that obvious?"
"Oh yeah, you're totally lost... The guy you like likes you back, and instead of being with him, you're here spouting nonsense"
"But i don't know what to say!"
"That's your problem haha"

"But... What if It was to late? What if he don't want me anymore?"
"Mav...i know Ice and you know him too"

"Yes"
If he confessed something so private to you, it means he really likes you."
"I wonder how long it took him to find the courage to tell me... And I broke his heart."

"And now go to him, you still have time to fix the things"

"I go, you get well soon okay?"
"Okay, don't worry"
Maverick find Iceman in the hangar
He still didn't know how to approach him
Luckily Iceman speak first "Maverick, how is Goose?"
"He's better, i spoke to him"
"That's a great news"
"Yeah ...But i want to speak with you know"
"About what?"
"Ehm about what you said to me some days ago...that you are in lo..."
"Forget about that!"
"Wait! Let me explain"
"Explain what?! You said you didn't want me" Iceman stare at Maverick and his eyes are cold as ice

"Listen i suck with love stories.."
"I'm afraid that when people find out how messed up i am, they leave"
"Maybe it's why i tend to be the one to leave them"
"Horrible things happening to people i love...First my parents, now Goose."
Ice's gaze was still fixed on Maverick but it had softened. "it's not you fault Maverick!"
"I like you Iceman, i really like you"
"But you deserve better than the mess i am"
Ice sigh "Yeah you're a mess Maverick...But i love this mess"
Maverick smile "You really want this?"
"Well let me think... You're a rebel, a dangerous rebel, absolutely allergic to following orders.
And, honestly, the thing you do to our instructor Charlie...The song at the bar, was really embarrassing."
"You're out of tune"
"What? how dare you?"
Ice smile "But you are so brave..For example when you helped Cougar to land."
"You have a unique way to fly"
"And you manage to make me laugh everytime, even when i'm mad at you"

Maverick start to crying and hug Iceman "I didn't know you are so sentimental Mr. cold as ice"
Iceman blush "Ohh shut up, i'm trying to be gentle"
Maverick looks at Iceman face "Oh, you are blushing?? I made THE Tom Kazansky blush?"
"Shut up!"
"You are so cute"
"I'm a Navy pilot, i'm not cute"
Maverick take Iceman's face between his hands "For me you are"
"Shut up"
"Make me" Maverick look at him with a sassy smile.
"You are impossible"
"Hey YOU are the one who said i love you"
"Haha yes it's true"
"And you feel the same things about me?"
"Yes, i'm in love with you. Sorry if i was such and asshole"
"It's okay Mav"
Maverick stare at Iceman's lips "soo you want use that mouth only to talk or??"
Iceman smile and lifted Maverick's face with a finger "Come here"
The two lovers finally kisses.
"Wow it was crazy" Maverick was speechless.
He can only think about the handsome guy who was between his arms.
"You liked?"
"I loved Ice, and i love you"
"shut, up they could heard us haha"
"So you want to drink something?"
"Yeah good idea"
they headed to the bar.
"I was thinking...You can be my wingman untill Goose come back from the hospital"
"Bullshit!"
"What?"
"You can be mine"
