   Summary

   He was happy now, John B reminded himself. Happy and safe and better. That's the word everyone kept using for him. Teachers and parents and cashiers would whisper towards John B when his friend wasn’t listening: “Oh he just looks so much better!” they would say, eyes softening as they looked at the blonde. John B couldn’t help but feel his stomach tighten at those words.
