Work Text:
Yuzu looked at their phone. They received no new messages from their friend.
They sigh. "What happened now? They're usually early. Whenever they're late something ridiculous happens."
Cyril snorts. "5 bucks that they locked themself in their bathroom again?"
Yona, who was lounging on their couch, shook her head. "Nah. 10 on them getting robbed again and trying to run after the robber."
"Again?" Someone asked.
Yona snickered. "Yeah, again. It was back in May. Their bag got stolen."
"Wait, wasn't that the time when they had nothing in their bag except for a single physical copy of a novel?"
Yona nods. "Yeah. They only brought enough money with them to buy the physical copy so the only thing of value that the robber could have stolen was the bag. They still played tug-of-war with the robber for like 5 minutes for that bag though."
"I can respect that, though." Cyril said, brushing his hair back with his hand. "I'm sure as hell not waiting for over an hour in a line to get another physical copy. I would have fist fought anyone who tried stealing it."
"Just get one online." One of them said, adjusting her cosplay accessories.
Cyril scoffs. "Hell no. Do you know how much shipping fees are nowadays? Way too fucking expensive."
"Can't be that bad." She replied to him. At that, he handed her his phone, showing her the price.
She was flabbergasted. "The heck? The book is 10$ but the shipping fee's 15? What a rip off!"
"Now do you get it? I'd rather get up at the crack of dawn than spend an extra fifteen dollars on shipping fees. Not in this economy."
Yuzu raises an eyebrow at him. "Aren't you rich? Or well, upper-middle class, if you want to be specific. You can definitely afford a 15$ shipping fee."
"Just because I could doesn't mean I should or would. Would you pay 15$ in shipping for a 10$ book?" He retorted.
Yuzu shook their head. "Hell no. Fair enough, then." The matter was resolved.
They sigh. "Just where are they now?-" someone knocked on the door. It was to the beat of APT by Bruno Mars and ROSÉ.
Speak of the devil, and they shall appear, huh.
"Finally." Someone commented. "I was just about to call them to tell them to hurry up."
Yuzu approached the front door and twisted the door knob, opening the door and revealing a..
Friend with a very unkempt and disheveled appearance.
Their hair was ruffled and messy, leaves sticking out of them. Their clothes were wrinkled, and there was a tear at the side. It was small, but easily noticable if you were looking. Not to mention, it was dirty. They kind of looked homeless. They looked like they joined some pigs that were rolling in mud. Their face was dirty too, filth plastered on their cheek. They were also out of breath and heavily panting in the door way.
Everyone gaped at them.
"What happened to you? Did you play in the dirt or something?" Yuzu asks them, dumbfounded. Why do they look like they just went through hell and back?
Their friend finally finished catching their breath. "Huff.. Ah, nothing much.. Ha.. Just um, nearly died? Hahahaha?" They said casually, as if talking about the weather, and not, you know, nearly dying.
What.
"Nearly died?"
"What do you mean by that-"
"Are you joking?"
Pandemonium erupted in the room at their statement, everyone talking over one another.
They raised a hand up, and the room went quiet. " Yeah, nearly died. As in. I almost got ran over by a truck that went out of control. I'm not joking. That was probably the scariest thing to have ever happened to me."
Yuzu stepped forward, now facing their friend. "Hey." They called for their attention.
Yuzu cupped their face, using their thumb to wipe away the dirt smeared on it. "Are you injured anywhere? You're dirty as hell. It might get infected." They frowned.
Their friend blinked. "Eh? Ah, no. I'm not injured. It was a close call, but I didn't get hurt." They didn't seem like they were lying.
Yuzu removed their hand from their friend's chin, falling back into a resting position. They sighed in relief. "Thank god.. We leave you unsupervised for an hour maximum in public and you nearly die." They sigh again, but this time, not in relief.
Their friend smiles sheepishly. "I have the worst luck."
"You okay?" Cyril asks, and Yuzu knows he means it in not in the physical sense. "Yeah! Are you? If you want to sit this one out and stay home for a bit it's fine, we understand. Nearly getting ran over's pretty shocking" Yona jumps in, and Yuzu nods at her words.
Their friend shakes their head. "No, it's fine! I'm alright. It spooked me like crazy but hey, I came out unscathed. Would be a shame if I went home now."
"If you say so, I guess it's fine."
Another one of their friend's lips quirked up into an amused smile. Xir worry fading at the confirmation xir friend was alright. " Worst luck, you say? You should main Bennett in Genshin then. You'd like him." Xe said.
"It takes too long to unlock co-op.." They mutter.
Xe huffs. "Come on, it'll only take a few hours of gameplay. It's easy. It'll be fun."
They sigh. "I'll think about it." Xe beams at them. "Great!"
Yuzu glances back at their kitchen. The Mac and Cheese should be ready by now. "Yo," they say, catching everyone's attention. "I'm going to the kitchen. Food should be ready."
Someone fist pumps "Finally! We can start watching!" Cyril, Yona, and everyone else starts clapping.
They then glance at their friend. "And you should be tidying yourself up. Go to my room, wash up. I think I have some spare clothes that are your size." Their friend smiles at them, both sheepishly and grateful. "Okay, thanks!" They started walking towards the stairs, as their room was located in the second floor.
"Okay, so I'm going to get the Mac and Cheese quickly. Everyone get a portion before they come back and eat all of it." Everyone scrambles to get into the kitchen, trying to get their own bowls and utensils before the dairy glutton eats it all.
...
When their friend came down, they looked actually presentable. Their hair was no longer messy, it was now combed and a little wet at the front, like they just washed it. Their face was clean as well, and they were wearing a hoodie.
A plum purple hoodie. Yuzu smirks at them. They grimace. "I was forced into taking drastic measures. Why don't you have different color hoodies?" They complained dramatically. "This is a sad, sad day. I never thought I'd live to see the day I find myself in plum."
They roll their eyes at their friend's theatrics. "It's just a color, you'll live. And my other hoodie is in the laundry. I only have two, I'm not a hoodie person."
"Now sit down so we can start" Yuzu pats the empty space on the couch next to them, beckoning their friend to come. From the start of the whole hosting arrangement their friend group had going on, they had assigned seats. It wasn't a rigid thing, you could swap places if you wanted to, but often timed they followed the seating arrangements.
They sit down, and glance at the table in front of them. On it, is a bowl of Mac and cheese, the smell of it making the fish incredibly appetizing. On the side of the bowl was a piece of garlic bread, sauted with butter and vegetables and smeared with spicy honey. To accompany the savory meal and its side dish, a cup of iced lemon tea served as a palette cleanser.
As always, Yuzu's cooking was exceptional. They could feel their mouth watering at the sight.
"Looks good, yeah?" Cyril says, and they nod. "Then don't eat it all. Save some for the rest of us." He joked.
"I told you, when I'm finished you can have what's left." They joked back, referencing a show.
" There won't be any left, there's never any left." Yona jumped in, in a high pitched, dramatic voice.
All three of them started giggling.
Yuzu snorted. " Okay, idiots. If you're done laughing I'm going to start the anime now."
They raised their hand to their eyebrow, saluting in a joking way. "Aye, captain." They looked silly doing that while sitting down.
"Pfft-" Yuzu raised a hand to their mouth, covering their smile. "Are you pretending to be a soldier or a pirate?"
Their friend shrugged. "Eh, both? A solrate. A pirdier. A sea military guy?"
"Isn't that just the Navy?"
They shrug. They take a bite of the Mac and cheese and-
They gasp. "Yuzu. This is so good." They turn their head to stare at them. "Marry me, Yuzu, so I can have this every day."
Yuzu laughs. "We're both kind of broke. There's no real tax benefits for us. Do you propose to every chef you meet?"
"Just the ones who can cook this good." Their friend replied smoothly.
Yuzu shook their head, smiling, and played the anime, and everyone quiets down to watch.
___
"So which one are you right now?"
"The hell does he mean by that? Which one?" She asked confusedly. They were met with no response, either because the others were just as confused, or because they didn't want to spoil anything.
...
"Gojo Satoru. I’m in charge of the first years at Jujutsu Tech." The character on screen introduced himself.
"Damn, he's hot." One of them commented. They were met with a lot of agreement.
...
"It’s been decided that you’ll be secretly executed."
"Huh?!"
...
"I rewrote it!"
Everyone was stunned.
"Can he seriously just do that..?"
...
"Is it 'fair and square' to rewrite a student’s club application?"
"Right?"
...
"I heard he can run 50 meters in 3 seconds."
"What the heck?" Yuzu heard their friend saying. "What do they feed that guy? Steroids?"
Wait until they see him punch through concrete.
...
" A human finger? "
The people who haven't seen the anime yet cringe. The finger looked kind of gross.
...
"Did he really just eat that finger??" Cyril asked, shocked.
Yona nods. "Yeah. He just ate it. More like swallowed, actually."
...
"Where are the women and the children?"
"Wow. The first thing he asks for are women and children. This guy is probably/definitely evil." Was the general consensus of the room.
...
They ended up watching a couple more episodes until they decided to switch to other activities such as gaming or playing board games or simply catching up.
After a couple more hours, one by one, people started to leave.
"Bye, Yuzu!" Yona said, approaching the door, which Cyril was holding the doorknob of. "See you next time." He said.
Yuzu smiled.
They had really enjoyed today. They missed their friends a lot. 'I want to do this again with them soon.'
They yawn and put a hand on their mouth, stifling it. 'I should take a nap.'
They head upstairs to their room.
'Wait, did they ever return my hoodie?' Yuzu thinks, then mentally shrugs. 'Whatever. I'll ask for it next time.'
They get on the bed and promptly fell asleep.
...
Megumi was probably going to die. Scratch that, Megumi was most certainly going to die. He was injured, facing cursed energy depletion, and unable to think straight. He had made peace with the fact that he'd likely die young ages ago, as it was very rare for a sorcerer to live to an old age. Those that do manage to live a long life either quit the sorcery business early on or were immensely lucky or powerful.
He hoped that Itadori ran away. He was still holding on to Sukuna's finger — if the curse got a hold of that, not just Megumi, but many people close by would be killed.
'At the very least, When I don't come back to the dorms, Gojo will find out about the finger and retrieve it from Itadori.'
Of course, things could never be so simple, so he saw Itadori jumping on to the curse's head.
'That idiot! Does he still have the finger?!'
"Itadori! Your only chance is to take those two and run for it!" He yelled at him.
"Aren't you in danger too?" He said as he was flung by the curse.
"Only a curse can beat a curse! You cannot defeat this!" This was bad! If Itadori still had the finger, the curse would kill them both for it and become a special grade once it's eaten.
"It's not the time to say such things!" Itadori replied as he dodged an attack. "You'll die at this rate!"
"I'd feel terrible if I left you now!" He added. 'You'd feel even more terrible when you're dead!'
"Besides.." The curse started healing the eye Itadori pierced with his leg. "I have my own troublesome curse."
Itadori dodges another attack, but is not so lucky the next time, and is hit in the stomach.
While in the air, he lets go off the finger.
The curse catches him, and Itadori catches the finger with his mouth.
"You idiot! Throw it down to me or you’ll both get eaten!" That was the second worst case scenario. That a curse manages to eat a finger of Ryomen Sukuna.
Before he falls into the curse’s mouth, Itadori catches himself on the curse’s teeth. The curse grabs Itadori and tries to force him into its mouth.
He tosses the finger into the air.
"There’s a way I can save everyone! I just need to have my own cursed energy, don’t I?!"
For a very brief moment, Megumi is stunned into silence. 'He can't be doing what I think he's going to do.'
...
'No, he is!'
"Don’t do it… Don't do it!" He yells at him.
He eats it.
Every person who's eaten that finger has exploded and died.
'But there is a chance.. A one in a million chance.'
The curse explodes.
Just by looking, Megumi could identify that Itadori was different. For one, he could feel much more cursed energy from him.
But Megumi could tell it wasn't his.
They were facing the worst case scenario. Ryomen Sukuna has been incarnated after a thousand years.
...
Yuzu woke up cold. And standing, apparently. Which is strange. Because they knew they fell asleep in their bed. Their very comfortable bed. Which is nowhere to be found.
"What the fuck?" They blurt out, but are taken back by how different their voice sounds.
That was not their voice. If anything, it sounded like Yuji from Jujutsu Kaisen. But that would be ridiculous.
'Am I lucid-dreaming?' They wonder.
Also, why where they half naked. "What." What happened to their clothes?????
They look forward. They see someone who looks straight out of an anime. Megumi Fushiguro. It looked too realistic.
"What do you think you’re doing with my body? Give it back." A voice said. Funny thing is, it was the voice they spoke with earlier.
Rooftop. Shirtless. Megumi Fushiguro. Yuji's voice. That line.
"Oh fuck this shit." They immediately decided to book it out of here.
They jumped off the roof. Yuji's supernatural-like strength would save them. Probably.
"WHA- Did you just make me jump off the roof?!" Yuji says, as they angle their body to be able to reach a tree and avoid becoming ground meat.
"Sorry about that." They sincerely apologize. Watching your own body move without your control jump off a roof must be pretty traumatizing.
They grab a tree branch and swing themself safely to the ground. "But if you stayed there any longer you would surely die." It was the truth, kinda, just not the way Yuji would think. If he stayed there, he would definitely be sentenced to execution and then have to join Jujutsu High.
Well, he would probably still be sentenced to death, but hey, at least he won't have to know.
Because both of them were getting the hell out of here.
"HUH?!" Itadori yells, and Yuzu winces at the loudness, but keeps running.
They needed to avoid that guy.
Yuji, as established earlier when they were watching the anime with their friends, can run very, very fast.
Within like 5 minutes, they've traveled like 5 or 6 kilometers. Holy. That was seriously faster than a car. What do they feed this kid? Well. A finger at birth, but still. Yuji was probably still shocked at their statement, and had made no attempts to reclaim his body yet.
After a couple more seconds, they reach an alleyway. They look around. There seems to be no one following them. They sigh in relief.
"Okay, kid. What do you feel about travelling to another country?" They ask him.
"Huh?" He asks confusedly.
"You feel like Thailand? Or Spain? How about Maldives, you like Maldives?" They continued listing countries.
"Hm, well, Maldives does sound nice- wait! Why are we travelling to another country?" Yuji responds, baffled. "Where would we even get the money for that?"
Yuzu shoves their hands into their (Yuji's? Whatever, they were in control at the moment so it was theirs at the moment) pockets, leaning against the wall. "Didn't I tell you already? It's because-"
"Oh? Come on, do share with the class. Why is Sukuna trying to go to another country, huh?" A voice suddenly said.
It was a very, very recognizable voice. They immediately knew who it was.
'Fuck. It's this bastard.' The person they were trying to avoid most of all. 'Figures he'd find us right away.'
It was Satoru Gojo. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Yuzu really wants to go home. 'Who said transmigrating into a character is fun? What a liar. This is anything but fun.'
".. Six Eyes." He greets Gojo, trying to respond in the least suspicious way. 'If I reveal myself not to be Sukuna, we're probably still going to get executed. We'd still have to search for Sukuna's fingers. I'd have to be involved in the plot, and frankly - no.'
Yuzu does feel a little bad about not involving themself in the plot. They could probably save a lot of people with their foreknowledge, but.
'I have my own people to get back to! This isn't my world. I've got to get home.' Saving everyone also wasn't their responsibility. They weren't like Yuji. Or their friend.
If they could save someone, they would, but if it was out of their capabilities they wouldn't struggle desperately to do so. They weren't much of a altruistic person, so they admired their friend because of it.
Plus, Sukuna not being there probably puts a wrench in Kenjaku's plans. It wouldn't put a permanent stop to it, but it'll definitely set it back for a while. The people of this world could figure something out.
Gojo Satoru jumped down from wherever he was. "Oh? You recognized it right away." Tsk! They slipped up!
".. I met someone with the Six Eyes before. I could recognize that your cursed energy was similae to theirs."
"Really." Gojo sounded a little skeptical, but it's not like he could disprove it because no one else in the world had the Six Eyes. Ha. Try to prove them wrong.
"So. Why did you want to go to another country?" He pressed again.
"None of your business." They said curtly, trying to find a way to escape. If it was possible. Yuzu suddenly understands why Gege regretted making Gojo so overpowered. It was so difficult to run away with him here.
"Huh. Well, I guess this is the part where we fight? I'll have to warn you though — you'll lose." Gojo smiled.
Obviously they would lose?!
Helllll no. Hell to the no.They were not fighting Gojo Satoru. They've never even used cursed energy. They are not dying today.
Just as they were about to throw caution into the wind and reveal they weren't Sukuna, incase it did any good, or hell, start lying about seeing the future or something equally as stupid, Yuji, like a godsend, intervened.
"Wait!" Yuji took control of his body. Gojo paused. "Eh?"
"What's going on? Why are you fighting that guy? Who is that guy? Why is he in my body?" Yuji started firing questions at a fast pace.
Gojo stepped and leaned forward. ".. Huh. " he said. "You two really did combine. That's hilarious."
He stopped leaning. "Hey.." He trailed off. "What's your name?"
Yuji blinked. "Huh? Oh, I'm Itadori Yuji! I'm from Sendai." Well, at least he didn't introduce himself with his attraction to Jennifer Lawrence.
"Hey, Yuji." Gojo calls immediately calls him on a first-name basis. " Anything off with your body?" He asks.
"There's nothing off besides the fact that there's someone else in my body." Yuji responds.
Try transmigrating into a villain and getting shoved into a body you cant control. That would make you feel pretty off.
"Can you swap out with Sukuna again?"
"Sukuna?" Yuji questions.
"The guy in your head. Switch back after 10 seconds." Gojo explains.
"Oh.. Yeah, I think I can do that.” He agreed, and relinquished control.
Marks appeared once more on Yuji's face and body.
"Tsk." Yuzu clicked their tongue. 'This sucks. I don't want to be involved in the plot. Let me go home. Damn it, I still haven't gotten my hoodie back!'
"My pronouns are They/them, by the way. Don't call me a he." Gojo paused for a moment, but nodded, because he might be an asshole, but he wasn't an anti-queer asshole. Well to be fair, the guy was probably a little queer himself.
"Any chance you could let us go?" They say, knowing there probably wasn't. "I could make a binding vow. I'd swear not to willingly hurt anyone if you let us go."
"Hmm.. " He puts a hand on his chin. He's probably already made up his mind and is just pretending. "Tempting, but no!"
Eh. Worth a shot.
"You seem like the crafty sort. You'd find a loophole. Also, it'd be easier to keep an eye on you. Plus.. Why do you even want to get away that badly, huh? You'd even swear a binding vow on it." Gojo questioned.
Yuzu sweatdropped. They had no excuse.
Fortunately, Yuji had impeccable timing and switched back with them. "It's been 10 seconds!" He says.
"Well, I wouldn't have minded much if you took 5 seconds longer, but seems like you really can control it."
Gojo leans forward again, and then swiftly knocks out Yuji.
...
Gojo teleports back to the roof, with a body in tow.
Megumi stands up, having recovered some of his strength. "Is he..?"
"Unconscious." Gojo-sensei informs him. "He could control Sukuna."
Itadori could control Sukuna. This was something that was completely unheard of.
“If he isn't possessed when he wakes up, he might have potential as a vessel.” Gojo says casually. Then, he looks at Megumi.
“Now, I have a question for you. What should we do with him?” What did Megumi want the outcome to be?
“Even if he is a vessel.. Jujutsu regulations demand Itadori be executed. However.. I don't want to let him die.” It was a selfish request. However.
“Your personal feelings?” Gojo asks.
“Yes, please do something about this.” Megumi confirmed. He knew Gojo would do something about it since he asked.
Gojo chuckles lightly, “Now it's a request from a precious student. Leave it to me!”
...
Inside the edgiest place Yuzu's ever been to in their life, they wanted to rip their hair out.
"DAMN IT! Let me go home!!" they screamed in frustration.
It was then they realized they were in 2018. When Galaxy themed things and fidget spinners were the trendy thing.
And the memes. Wasn't fortnite really popular back then?
Oh God no.
"TAKE ME BACK TO 2025!!!"
