At Camp Half-Blood, a new threat rises from beneath the earth: a forgotten primordial king of death, awakening through silver chains and fear. When Nico di Angelo becomes its chosen “heir,” shadows across camp begin to obey him—and so does the king.
As monsters, ghosts, and even the land itself turn against the campers, Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase fight to hold the camp together while uncovering the truth behind the chained serpent and the collapsing barrier between life and death. Only Will Solace’s light can weaken the king’s influence, anchoring Nico as he struggles against a power that tempts him with control over all he has ever lost.
When the king fully manifests, Nico must choose between embracing endless power or rejecting it and risking everything—including himself.
In the end, it comes down to whether he can stay human… or become death itself.
