Bunnyx hated this day.
As she had learned from her time in the burrow, the thing about being a time traveller is that nothing is a surprise to her, she sees it all from who will be the future villains to what she’ll look like on her death bed.
Can she do anything about these events? No, all she can do is watch them play out. This is fine for her life, she likes watching her younger self grow into the hero she would become, what made it hard was having to watch the people around her suffer.
Especially her girlfriend, Marinette. Alix had lost track of the number of times she’s seen Marinette get hurt, from fighting a tough Akuma to having to deal with all the burdens she carries. Every time Alix wanted to step in and be there for her girlfriend and every time Bunnyx remembers the responsibility she has at keeping the timeline in order.
But not today. Today was the day Marinette found out about her grandfather's death… Alix was used to loss, she lost her mother long before she could remember and looking after rabbits had shown her the pain of burying a loved one. But Alix knew Marinette hadn’t felt that pain before, she’s never had a pet, she’s never lost a parent and she never had to feel the emptiness of them being gone. But today would change all that and Alix didn’t want her to do it alone!
So as soon as she saw the events unfold in the windows of the burrow she didn’t even think for a second as she rushed to be there for her girlfriend in what would be a new and painful experience for her.
She opened the portal and stepped into Paris at that moment, so she could be there.
Bunnyx only realised after the portal closed behind her that it was nighttime. She recalled Marinette finding out the truth in the afternoon, so for her to arrive at night means she had overshot her intended point.
“Damn it, I must have gone too far ahead!” Bunnyx said with frustration plain in her voice as she was just about to open a portal when out of the corner of her eyes something zoomed passed, with a mixture of a young woman laughing and a young man’s distressed cry for help. “Was that an Akuma?” Bunnyx didn’t even have a moment to process when suddenly a thud of something landing on the rooftop came from behind her.
“Guess I’m a lot stronger than I realise.” A voice that sounded familiar to Bunnyx, yet had a deeper and mature edge to it. Bunnyx turns to the source and is shocked to see Ladybug?
Well not truly as while this person wore the same suit as her girlfriend, but this figure was much taller than Marinette as they towered over Bunnyx unlike with Marinette where they were both closely at eye height and as the more Bunnyx stares at her she was buffer too, as the suit clear showed the toned muscles of arms and legs. Bunnyx mused that this person clearly did a lot of training to have a body that was this divine, Bunnyx musters all her self control not to drool at the sight of them as she looks towards the person’s face to take her mind off their body.
Upon looking at the face did it finally click to Bunnyx. “Marinette!” Upon hearing the name did the figure smile in recognition. “Hello little rabbit.” The words which Bunnyx was used to hearing in a cutesy tone now had a different effect with Marinette's deeper voice.
Looking closer at Marinette’s face, things finally start to click for Bunnyx. Marinette's face looked more maturer, her face was sharper and more toned, giving off a more boyish look compared to Marinette’s more cutesy roundish features. Her hair was in a pixie cut that only seemed to further add to her more boyish style, she recalls in the past she had told Marinette that her hair would look awesome in a pixie cut, Alix never admitting that she secretly hoped Marinette would one day indulge Alix’s fantasy.
So to see the Adult Marinette with the style was a dream come true. “Did I pop out at the wrong point in time?” Bunnyx’s mind now finally kicked into gear as it tried to work out what was going on. “No… You came to the right day. Just at the wrong moment. Little Rabbit.” Adultbug (As Bunnyx thought of her) said with a smirk as she moved closer to Bunnyx. She then explains the encounter with the Akuma and how she was aged up to her mid 20’s.
“Oh wow…” Bunnyx was speechless as the closer Adultbug got to her the more her eyes couldn’t stop looking at her muscles.
Adultbug clearly sees this as she backs Bunnyx up against the wall as she then decides to flex her arm besides her, showing off all the muscles that Bunnyx hadn’t seen on her first look. Bunnyx feels the blood rush to her cheeks as she quickly covers her face as to not let Adultbug see the victory.
Yet it was clear from the wide grin that the grown-up version of her girlfriend had already caught on to Bunnyx’s blush. “You really are so cute when you're this small.” Adultbug leans in and whispers into Bunnyx’s ear, her words tickling them, as the blush from her cheeks spread to them as they start to heat up and glow.
“I see why the adult version of you likes to tease me, when I’m this young, we’re both so easy to fluster!” Adultbug said as Bunnyx was speechless, she was in awe at how Marinette had managed to render her speechless at this moment. But at the same time she hated it as Adultbug’s clearly had her like putty in her hands, every time Bunnyx musters up enough strength to speak, Adultbug made another move that turned her back into the schoolgirl who was being wooed by her crush.
“Sorry sweetie… I’ve got to dash. Kitty Cat is going to need my help. But don’t think I’ll leave you empty handed.” Adultbug leans in and kisses Bunnyx on the cheek. “I love you… and I’ll see you soon.” Adult bug said as she dashed off the roof in the same direction as the blur from moments ago did.
Bunnyx just stood there still in daze as suddenly her knees gave out and she fell to the floor in a pile as her legs formed a W shape.
That whole moment felt surreal to her as she still couldn’t process what had just happened. “Woah… that's what I have to look forward to in the future.” Was all Bunnyx said at that moment, as her brain was still mushed from the kiss.
Eventually Bunnyx finally composed herself as she realised why her Adult-self had banned her from looking at adult Marinette till now. “She must have known this day was coming… You could have warned me!” Bunnyx shouted into the night sky, anyone would think she was mad, but she knew her adult-self was watching and so it made sense to her.
Bunnyx kept getting flashes of the encounter as she tries to remember why she came here in the first place. “Oh right! Marinette!” Suddenly it all came rushing back as Bunnyx opened the portal. For one final she touches the cheek that Adult bug kissed to find it still warm and softly smiles.
“Time to return the gift.”
