Work Text:
Kalysta remembered, vivid as a lightning bolt, the first time she had realised she desired women. One woman, in specific. Her name had been Tysane, and she was bold as any man Kalysta knew, if not bolder. Tysane made her think that the Warrior must bless women too, if only occasionally, for surely he had blessed her. Tysane had a brother, but he was some six-and-ten years her junior, still a babe in arms. He would inherit, but Kalysta had a feeling Tysane would keep some measure of control, if only over her own life. If Tysane was a man, the realm would have admired her, not viewed her insistence on learning to fight as eccentricity at best. If Tysane was a man, Kalysta could have married her. She wasn’t entirely sure if that was what she wanted, not knowing whether or not these feelings would fade. She certainly admired Tysane, and desired her greatly. She thought about kissing her, and her cheeks heated. She imagined Tysane taking her face in those calloused hands, and pulling her in. She wished they could have something, but Kalysta was a good daughter, so she only watched and wanted.
