The Nightmares that haunt me

Summary:

Loki's going through a hard time and Thor's trying to find him.

Notes:

This is basically a one-shot which I wrote during my flight to germany. It's not really well put together but it's something.
Enjoy :)

Work Text:

Loki
He needed to find Loki.

How does his brother just…disappear. He doesn't even bother telling anyone wherever he ventures of to these days.

Maybe since he knew Thor would find him anyways?

When they used to be younger, Odin and Loki used to fight a lot. Thor used to find him hiding behind the palm trees, cheeks red and eyes swollen. He used to sit down next to him assuring him every thing was alright.

He still doesn’t believe what he said.

But Loki did.

Norns, what happened to those days.

Thor missed him, he missed Loki.

The Loki who used to scream with joy when Thor walked into the room. The Loki who used to crave for his affection.

Now all that was left was a faded photocopy of him.

Thor doesn’t know how to be close to someone so distant.

*Flashback*

What’s wrong Loki?

I'm scared

Of what?

Father

Don't worry Father won't hurt you. He's just like that sometimes.

Come here, brother. I’ll keep you safe.

The memory stings, it hurts. It feels like a lifetime ago.

Thor may have kept Loki safe from physical pain, but not the mental trauma he was undergoing.

He remembers Loki’s nightmares, every night he screams “Please I’ll do anything Thanos!” like he was about to cry.

He wasn't sure who exactly Thanos was but he didn't sound good.

Thor found Loki at the beach, his blue eyes staring into the waves.

He wasn’t crying but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t in pain.

Thor put an arm around his shoulder, Loki flinched heavily.

He started to remove his arm but Loki grabbed his forearm and said, ”Don’t let go please” his voice barely above a whisper.

Thor could see tears forming in his eyes but Loki brushed then away before they could stain his face.

He ran his fingers through Loki’s long hair.

“You need a haircut” it was a dry attempt at humor but Loki laughed at the joke anyways.

They watched the sunset together. Thor wanted to stay like this forever, it was pleasant to say the least.
