The worst part about being in a relationship with Yoo Joonghyuk is the fact that he always gets up too early in the morning. It makes Kim Dokja feel disoriented and cold once he does wake up, because Yoo Joonghyuk is always missing. Who else is supposed to supply as his own personal heater?
Okay, and maybe it’s not just his warmth that he misses. Maybe he also does miss cuddling him too. Oh and thinking about it, it is very nice to have Yoo Joonghyuk’s arms wrapped around him securely. And also he does like lying his head against his solid and plush chest and listening to his heartbeat.
Screw him for wanting to be around his husband for longer so they can cuddle. God forbid.
To be fair, it’s not everyday that Yoo Joonghyuk decides to leave Kim Dokja alone in their bed, in fact, he does spend more days sleeping in with him than he does waking up early. Huh.
Okay so maybe Kim Dokja is just selfish and wants him to cuddle him every morning. But no, actually, it’s the fact that Yoo Joonghyuk is leaving early on the weekends to go run outside of all things that makes him annoyed. Did he really have to choose the weekends out of all days? And running? Curse his stupidly buff husband for wanting to keep a healthy lifestyle.
Yoo Joonghyuk does his usual. He wakes up and faces Kim Dokja, staring at him for a bit, then he pets his hair and tucks the stray strands behind his ears before he lifts his bangs and plants a gentle kiss on his forehead.
Usually, Kim Dokja is too tired to stop Yoo Joonghyuk from leaving, but this time, he is actually prepared because he’s been awake for some time.
Just as Yoo Joonghyuk makes his move to get up and leave him, Kim Dokja follows through with his plan and attacks him.
And by ‘attack’ him, Kim Dokja means he wraps his arms and legs around Yoo Joonghyuk’s broad frame and whines out a mumbled, “Nooo, don’t leave.”
And once he does have his limbs securely wrapped around his waist and shoulder blades, he makes sure to hold on tight so he doesn’t leave. Then Kim Dokja promptly puts his head in between the space between Yoo Joonghyuk’s head and shoulder and nuzzles into it.
It’s really comforting like this actually, Kim Dokja could easily fall asleep like this again. He squeezes him tight again, because he doesn’t want Yoo Joonghyuk to leave.
It’s only once Kim Dokja feels arms wrap around his own frame that Kim Dokja decides to pull his head away from where it was resting so that he could look up at his husband.
The only way Kim Dokja can describe how Yoo Joonghyuk looks is ‘constipated,’ his eyebrows furrowed and lips downturned into a kind-of-but-not-really frown. It causes Kim Dokja to smile at him, because paired with that look is Yoo Joonghyuk’s gaze that looks fond, like he’s actually contemplating not leaving, because somehow, Yoo Joonghyuk is actually in love with Kim Dokja too. He feels his heartbeat start to beat faster. Kim Dokja is giddy and he can’t stop smiling at that.
So, Kim Dokja just decides to bury his smile into Yoo Joonghyuk again and squeezes him with his arms and legs.
“Squid…” he hears Yoo Joonghyuk mutter under his breath before he feels a large hand come up to pet the back of Kim Dokja’s head and untangle the strands of his hair, sweet and slow motions that make Kim Dokja sleepy.
“Don’t leave again,” he says and the motions of Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand freezes. “Just cuddle me.”
“We do every morning,” Yoo Joonghyuk says, but Kim Dokja can hear the conflict in his voice. Haha. Kim Dokja is really good at this.
Okay maybe he isn’t because he feels Yoo Joonghyuk’s hands wrap around his ankles, trying to get them off of being around his waist.
“Nooo,” Kim Dokja whines again and then he bites Yoo Joonghyuk’s neck. “Stop.”
But because Yoo Joonghyuk is the stronger between the two, he manages to win and manhandles Kim Dokja so that he is lying on their bed, trapped beneath him and wrists on either side of his head with Yoo Joonghyuk’s fingers wrapped around them.
Kim Dokja tries not to smile at Yoo Joonghyuk, because he was serious in not wanting him to leave, but he can’t help it because he just finds his Joonghyuk to be so cute.
“No, stop struggling,” Yoo Joonghyuk says.
“I’ll stop if you stop trying to leave.”
“Does,” Yoo Joonghyuk starts with a confused expression. “Does it actually bother you this much when I leave?”
Yes it does.
Kim Dokja looks away from Yoo Joonghyuk’s gaze and tries to hide his face away in the bed sheets but he can’t because he has nothing to cover his face. Everything is laid bare, even his every emotion.
“Kim Dokja…”
Then Yoo Joonghyuk lets out a slight chuckle.
Wow, he’s mocking him.
Then suddenly he feels himself getting lifted from the bed and finds himself in Yoo Joonghyuk’s arms because apparently he’s carrying him now. Instinctively, Kim Dokja wraps his legs securely around Yoo Joonghyuk’s waist like before.
Yoo Joonghyuk walks towards their bedroom door and says, “you’re coming with me to run.”
—
Kim Dokja is out of breath and he barely did anything. He ran not even half a lap and he’s already tired so he just sticks to walking, very slowly. His ears are cold, he hates it.
He watches as his husband is running along the trail, sweat running down his neck and making his clothes stick to his skin. Kim Dokja wonders if he can get him to take off his shirt. He deserves something after being dragged out here.
Kim Dokja uncaps the water bottle that he brought with him and chugs it down, still walking on the trail.
So far, Yoo Joonghyuk has ran two and a half laps while Kim Dokja is still working on finishing his first. He’s just being appreciative of nature, that's all, taking it all in.
Okay so it’s a little pathetic.
Kim Dokja tries to start running again, but after a bit of that he gets tired so he just stops and sits on the ground. He continues to bird watch Yoo Joonghyuk, imagining in his head what it would look like for him to be shirtless.
Then, when Yoo Joonghyuk is close to passing where Kim Dokja is just sitting on the ground, Kim Dokja starts clapping, because he can be his ‘hype man.’
“Go, Yoo Joonghyuk-ie!” he cheers at him. Haha, I’m so funny.
When Yoo Joonghyuk ends up nearing him, he eventually slows down to a stop and wipes a bit of his sweat on his head away with his shirt, causing it to lift and allowing Kim Dokja to see his abs.
“Are you done?” Yoo Joonghyuk asks slightly out of breath.
Kim Dokja is over this whole running thing, he wants to go home.
“Can we go home now?”
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Okay.”
“Okay.”
They go home.
