Summary
He was smart and pretty mature for an 11-year-old.
That was why he knew something bad had happened when his parents left him and Tommy with their friend Puffy, explained that they had to go to the doctor, both looked horrible when they came back, and Puffy quietly whispered to them: “I’m so sorry. We’re all here for you.”
He knew what it meant when his parents called him and Tommy over and explained that “Mom had an incurable illness.”
