Lift Me Up

Summary:

Apollo needs Klavier's help to reach something on a high shelf.

Notes:

Written for opening day of Klapollo Week!

Work Text:

Apollo Justice: competent defense attorney, champion of the truth, and half a foot shorter than him.

“Give it back,” Apollo gritted out, glaring at him.

Klavier sheepishly glanced up at the top shelf and the folder that had landed there when he had tossed it away from Apollo’s grasp. “Ah...I can’t reach.”

“If you can’t reach, how would I get up there?” Apollo looked ready to blow his top, though there was a hint of embarrassment flushing his cheeks.

“Well...you shouldn’t have been recklessly jumping at me like that, Herr Forehead.”

“I need that folder!” Apollo sighed and craned his neck, as if he could see the folder if he stood on his tip-toes. Klavier was a second away from feeling bad when Apollo huffed. “Wasn’t there a ladder in the other room? We could get that.”

“Oh, the stepladder? I think I saw someone taking it away…”

Apollo cursed and squinted at him. “Give me a lift.”

“Excuse me?”

The attorney waved his hands impatiently. “If I got on your back, I’ll be able to reach for it!”

True, but…

As if reading his thoughts, Apollo scowled. “You’re the one always calling me short. I’m not that heavy.”

“Okay, okay.” Klavier bent down, and he swallowed as he felt the weight and warmth of Apollo climbing up on his back. He straightened, and an arm reaching past his head came into view. The hand patted the top of the shelf and withdrew once it had grabbed the folder, and Klavier quickly lowered himself so that Apollo could slide down.

Not heavy? He could already feel the twinge in his back.

“Thanks. Even though it was your fault that we had to do that in the first place.”

Was Klavier’s face red? It must have been from the exertion. “Happy to help, Justice.”

Apollo eyed him strangely before shaking his head and glancing away. “I have to get this to Mr. Wright, so...bye.”

He hurried away before Klavier could reply, and Klavier stared at his retreating form as he crossed the doorway and slammed the door shut behind him.
