Chapter Text
Sixteen-year old Celine gazed down at the purple-haired child in her arms. Rumi, the child of Miyeong and a nameless demon who had fled after he learned of the baby. Miyeong, who had died shortly after from a broken heart while giving childbirth.
Her last words had been a request for Celine and Haeun to care for the baby.
Celine had looked down at her best friend, and agreed, although not without misgivings. The child was half-demon, after all.
She’d wanted to raise Rumi on her own. Celine was older, after all. It was her who took on the responsibility, her who made all the hard calls. It’d always been so. But Haeun had always challenged her, argued with her, made her rethink some of her decisions. But this time she didn’t. Haeun looked at the child who had robbed them of their best friend, and her face, usually round and full of joy, paled. She agreed readily to Celine raising Rumi.
But over the years Haeun came to love Rumi as much as Celine did, and Rumi was always visiting Auntie Haeun too. And bit by bit, she wormed her way into Celine’s and Haeun’s hearts.
Celine broke up the Sunlight Sisters, of course. Not only was it impossible to continue being an idol with a child, but it wouldn’t have been the same without Miyeong.
She became a psychologist under her Korean name. Jiah Rose. And the name of Dr. Rose grew to become world-famous. The irony of it appealed to her at times. Famous no matter what she did.
She tried badminton. And of course, because she never did things by halves, she was soon a professional player called Rose. Perhaps some would say that the paparazzi was suffocating, but having been an idol, it was laughably relaxing. Only about 5? She used to have ten!
She continued singing K-pop for fun. It was her passion, her hobby. But she refused to become an idol again. And the world was abuzz with rumours as to why the famous Celine had disappeared. How no one could find her. How she had moved out of her old apartment. How she never showed up at the Idol Awards anymore.
