Fate hasn’t been particularly kind. It’s had a record of setting me up only to pull the rug right out from under me. Lets me believe there’s going to be a “happily ever after” only to crush it in the ugliest way possible.
That it would tempt me on Old Earth with dreams about Sam Coe long before my chopper hit the anomaly that would send me to the Settled Systems where I would eventually meet him?You wouldn’t think fate would be so cruel as to give him back to his ex-wife.
But this is my sad little life.
