Antoine Cheeseman: This just in, a huge quantity of sugar has been spotted near the Pont de l’Alma train station in Paris. Thousands of ants from many colonies crowd up to get a taste of what this new Paris restaurant has to offer. We speak to Antonella Shortcake on site to see what the hype for this grand opening has for us and the queens at home. Antonella?
Antonella Shortcake: Thank You, Antoine. At the base of what you called the new Parisian restaurant, about 6 or 7 hundred colonies climbed up from under the ground for some sweet, sweet sugar. Not only is the aroma sweet like caramel and the place crowded with thousands of ants, it’s even evident in their cheers of enthusiasm!
Crowd (chanting): C6H12O6! C6H12O6! C6H12O6! C6H12O6!
Antonella Shortcake: Are you catching that in the studio?
Antoine Cheeseman: Yes, we are.
Antonella Shortcake: This has been the largest gathering of ants we’ve seen in all of Paris, and possibly the largest amount of pure sugar found in this area. Antoine, can you check if—
Some ant: New anchor! News anchor!
Antonella Shortcake: What was that?
Some ant: News anchor! Ms. Shortcake! I need to tell you something!
Antonella Shortcake: Why hello there! What’s your name?
Some ant: My name is Antony Cane, and I was the first person to see the sugar!
Antonella Shortcake: You were?
Antony Cane: Yes! Me and my buddies Cantaloupe and Antonio were lured out of our colony by some candy cane-like smell. We knew our queen loves candy canes, so we went up to the surface to see where the candy cane was.
Antonella Shortcake: And was there a candy cane?
Antony Cane: Sadly, no. But there was the Candy Man.
Antonella Shortcake: The Candy Man?
Antony Cane: The Candy Man! He is a human, like those we get our food from. He was looking at us when he reverse Thantos-snapped and created a whole bunch of sugar to feed nearby colonies for days. Me, Cantaloupe, and Antonio saw the Candy Man create sugar out of nothing! And we didn’t need to announce our discovery to our colony, as thousands of ants gathered around for the sweet, sweet sugar.
Crowd (chanting): C6H12O6! C6H12O6! C6H12O6! C6H12O6!
Antonella Shortcake: And where is the Candy Man now?
Antony Cane: Gone. While we were feasting on the sugar, he disappeared in the distance never to return again. I wish he can return to us so we can give him a proper thank you. His impact will live on forever with his generous efforts to not only feed us, but give us a core memory.
Antonella Shortcake: Antony, how will this impact us ants in other ways besides food?
Antony Cane: My mate Dante Suga wants to make songs and be a rapper. He told me he was gonna use this event as inspiration. In elemantary school, we learned how sugar is made, and later we learned that glucose is made in photosynthesis. Glucose was probably made in photosynthesis, but I don't know how we have pure sugar! This can be an inspirational message about creating good out of nothing.
