Chapter Text
The clicking of the generator being completed made 007n7 flinch slightly, distracting him from the overthinking that took over his mind while he worked. The generator began humming in this low, familiar pitch, signaling that his job here was done. With a sigh, he pushed himself up and dusted off his knees, then looked around.
The nightly atmosphere of Planet Voss always filled him with a strange sense of anxiety. The air was cold, sometimes to the point he could've sworn his breath was visible as white smoke coming out of his mouth with every exhale. The stars weren't visible, which somehow made it even worse - after all, he wasn't even sure how everyone could see so well without any form of natural light besides the brightness of the icy-like grass and constructions. He alone had trouble seeing, even with his pink glasses. The silence was too loud. Something had to be happening somewhere, he just wasn't sure where. Being left alone wasn't a very good idea, but what else could he do? They didn't like him after all. Could he blame them? He didn't even want to know the answer to that question, nor any other ones that have been creeping up on him when he left with nothing but his thoughts and worries.
He should've been used to it by now. After all, it's been... How long? If only he knew. But time in this realm didn't work like it used to back in Robloxia... At least the sense of days passing was never present. The only thing that they could count on was the clock displayed on the weird watches everyone had. Besides the time, it displayed something called "abilities". These were the only way to actually try and survive these horrific rounds. Sure, he used to complain about how his c00lgui had almost no power left, but after spending so much time in this realm, he learned to appreciate the very little he had left. Even if the cooldown could become the worst traitor in a moment of desperation.
Speaking off the cooldown, he noticed that it was off for all of his abilities. He let out a relieved exhale - he was semi-ready to face the killer, but only if necessary. After all, who would even want to go against a cold blooded murderer? Then, he finally glanced up to look around once more. He was pretty much alone, however he could assume what was happening with the others - Noob and maybe Veeronica were fixing other generators and trying to stay out of the killer's path, while the rest was trying to distract him for long enough until the round ended. He thought about it all for a moment - here they were, sacrificing themselves out there to keep him and the two other survivalists safe, meanwhile all he could do was fix the generators and not get in anyone's way... He sometimes felt useless for that. But he always tried to brush it off, as he didn't have any other choice - whatever of c00lgui he had left after he ended up here was merely enough to keep himself alive, let alone help the entire team. Sure, he could always try to find supplies for the rest... Or at least he tried to in the past. To show that he wasn't the same careless jerk he used to be before the adoption. But it was never actually appreciated. So after a while, he just understood that to not be a nuisance, he should just distance himself far enough to not seem like a burden.
After awkwardly standing in place for another 10 seconds, he snapped out of his thoughts and began moving. Maybe he could find some supplies for himself... Or another generator to fix to take off the time, so he wouldn't feel like a wasted potential. Anything to distract himself from these thoughts. After all, it was definitely unpleasant to live with the same mindset that you thought would be the end of your existence. At this point, his legs just moved as if on autopilot, his eyes tracking the area around for anything even remotely close to the sound or sight of anyone else and his mind trying to actually focus on survival. But the silence was still ringing in his ear almost loudly, even the generator's hum was starting to fade away.
While he walked mindlessly, his attention snapped to the fading in sounds of... The other survivors? Did he actually just stumble into the specific part of the map where everyone was distracting the killer each and making sure no one died in the process? 007n7 paused for a moment, then began walking again - although now, his steps were cautious, as if even this silent sound could actually lure the killer away from the team to target the hacker instead. He soon saw some moving silhouettes and soon enough, he was watching everyone work together to keep c00lkidd rather confused about who to actually go after.
Only now he remembered why this round felt so bad from the very beginning - they were going against his own son. 007n7's breath hitched slightly as he watched the child run around, trying to "tag" the survivors. He spent so many rounds away from him, because he still remembered how much it hurt to see him for the first few times. And now? The feeling only came back stronger. Because even though the child, now overgrown and with a sickenly wide grin on it's face, was the one he took in when it was just a baby left on his doorstep. The one he took care of for so many years. The one he actually felt so happy with. He never even thought having a son would bring so much warmth to his life, but now that this very child was attempting to murder them all... He felt empty. As if the only thing bringing him joy was taken away. With a heavy sigh, he stood up and walked away before the emotional part of his mind would make him stay and watch.
