Chapter Text
They did it.
They saved the Earth and Erid, and it was all thanks to the absolutely insane suicide mission. Grace had never thought he'd ever be able to say that he did something worthy of remembrance. Yet.. here he is. In space, with a five-legged rock alien that he named Rocky.
"What is Grace thinking, question?"
The monotonous robotic voice of Rocky cut through Grace's thoughts. He had still not gotten used to there being another, well, 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 to communicate with.
"Well, Rocky. I'm thinking of how cool it'd be to meet Adrian."
The alien immediately perked up and started whistling away, ecstatic to picture his mate and his best friend meeting and becoming friends themselves. Grace smiled at Rocky. How had his life come to this? How did a science teacher become an astronaut hero?
If he was being honest, he really didn't know. One moment he's eating skittles with his newfound friend, and the next, so-called friend is telling him that he'd be alright with tears in his eyes. It pained Grace to think about. To be betrayed by the person he made a baby with. To be turned on by the one person who actually saw the person inside the body.
And yet.
He couldn't find it in himself to be truly angry at his friend. That's what confused him the most. Why did he not feel the need to be mad at the person who stabbed him in the back?
"Hey, Rocky?"
"Yes. Grace?"
"..You wanna take a trip down memory lane with me?"
"What is this 'lane of memories', question?"
