Summary
The Magnolia house was never supposed to be a student rental.
Buck had bought it with Tommy when he was twenty-eight, fuelled by the kind of naive certainty that only comes with a first serious relationship. Tommy was older, established, and had a way of making “forever” sound like a simple logistical plan.
Then, after more than a decade together, the plan collapsed. Suddenly, Tommy decided he wasn't ready for a wedding and the subsequent children, that he wasn’t built for the domestic life they’d spent over a decade constructing. He left, and Buck was suddenly fourty-something-year-old and sitting alone in a five-bedroom house that felt like a tomb.
