OR: When a college dean’s homophobic comments threaten to cost Northlake University its main sponsors (and therefore its entire hockey program), campus golden boys Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are asked to fake-date for damage control.
Shane thinks the plan is absurd. Ilya thinks it’s hilarious. Unfortunately, both of them care too much about hockey to say no.
Now they just have to survive staged dates, invasive campus gossip, suspicious teammates, and pretending to be disgustingly in love for a few months.
Which would all be a lot easier if they weren’t starting to enjoy it a little too much…

lShane must admit he admires one thing about Rozanov though — he never tries to undermine Shane to make himself look better.
“I haven’t dated much either, definitely nothing serious.”
He hasn’t gone out with anyone in almost a year, but Rozanov doesn’t need to know that.
“Before I change my mind… Just kiss me.”
And then Ilya is kissing him.
Rozanov: Yes, I am very understanding. Plus, you know, I would never complain about kissing a pretty boy.
Hollander has no business possessing an ass that nice.
Altogether, beautiful.
The realization lands with all the subtlety of a body check.
Ilya can’t find a rational explanation for why he enjoys his time with Shane so much. Usually, the objects of Ilya’s attraction leave his system after a few encounters, or he finds it easy to move on when the other person loses interest first.
Shane can’t help but feel like a fool. There he is practically falling in love with this guy, worrying about him, inviting him to his family home for Christmas, when Ilya made it clear from the beginning he only does flings.
