They'd just gotten back from a rough mission, they were still panting and bloodied… And Eijirou could have died if it hadn't been for his hardening.
Katsuki didn't like it one bit. His mind kept replaying that scene, and every time it did, he could feel his hands tremble. He could have lost him, he could have lost the love of his life—the man that was first and foremost his best friend, his beacon for actual happiness—and it would have all been his fault.
"Hey, man, you okay?"
'Oh, Eijirou,' Katsuki thought somberly. 'Why do you always think about other people first? It's YOU who almost died. Hell.'
And Katsuki didn't reply right away; he just grunted as his brain kept wandering back to a couple of hours prior, knowing that he wouldn't have been in time. He couldn't have saved him.
Shit, now he felt his eyes watering.
He knew Eijirou's gaze was still on him, but he attempted to bury the sensations it sparked in him deep in the back of his mind. He had to go, he couldn't break now. As he went to take the first step towards the bathroom, however, he felt his wrist getting seized, but he didn't turn right away, only staring at his feet.
"Please, tell me what's going on in that pretty head of yours… You're making me worry…" Eijirou's voice was creaking at the sides, and Katsuki hated that.
"You…" He tried to ground himself, but his whole body was still shaking. "Today you could have died, Eijirou. You could have died, and I wouldn't have been able to save you. You know what that means?"
Eijirou didn't answer.
"It means that I could have lost you. Forever." As soon as the words left his mouth, Katsuki's breath hitched.
"But Kats… It's our job. And I'm still here, aren't I?"
Katsuki knew Eijirou was just trying to help, but the villain almost piercing his stomach was still vivid in his mind.
They still weren't looking at each other, but Katsuki could feel Eijirou getting nearer and nearer, and in a few seconds he had him wrapped up in a crushing hug that had his breath falter. "I'm sorry, love. I would really like to be able to say that it won't happen again." Eijirou kissed the base of his neck before continuing. "But you know I don't like lying. Not to you."
And Katsuki knew, but it hurt, it hurt so fucking much.
"But look at the positive side! Nothing can actually go through me, and it's all because of you. Unbreakable is all thanks to you, Kats," he said as he left another peck on his nape—it was tender, and Katsuki already felt his body becoming jelly under the subtle touch. "And I would never trade it for anything in the world when it's the reason I'm able to protect you."
And this, fuck, this made Katsuki's resolve shatter completely. He began crying like a baby, his whole body trembling within Eijirou's embrace.
"Shh, it's okay, love. I'm here. I'll always be here for you," Eijirou cooed as he shuffled their positions to have Katsuki look him in the eye, their foreheads soon finding rest against each other. "I love you, Kats, I love you so much."
And Katsuki didn't ask, he didn't wait, he surged forward and linked their lips in a starving kiss, already feeling the wind escaping his lungs. And a little whimper was everything that left his throat as they struggled to get to the bedroom, their minds only filled with the need of each other; everything else tuned out for the time being.
And as the door got shut behind them, Katsuki didn't spare anytime to push Eijirou on the bed. They took in each other's disheveled state, panting like they'd just run a marathon, and Katsuki just positioned himself between Eijirou's legs before closing the distance again, uncaring of the tear trails still wetting his cheeks. He could never have too much of those plush lips, of that tongue exploring every single millimeter of his mouth. Of those teeth. God. Those teeth. Katsuki swore he could happily die every time they punctured his lips to draw just the right amount of blood to make him swoon at the rusty taste.
They kissed like that for what felt like hours, and Katsuki didn't care about the fact that they should have showered, made dinner, or anything else, really. He had everything he needed right now—and forever—whining beautifully under him.
He could feel himself getting light-headed. He didn't remember the last time he'd actually breathed, but, still, he didn't care. Not when Eijirou was panting hard under his roaming hands, and fuck, how he loved touching that sculpted muscular body of his.
He finally took a step back to take a look at the gorgeous mess that was his life partner. He was heavy lidded, and he still had his tongue out in a vain attempt to draw more air into his lungs. And, hell, Katsuki's body was reacting at the sight, but no. It was not the time, this is not what he needed now. What either of them did.
"Fucking perfect," he muttered as he surged back to attack Eijirou's neck, leaving a trail of sloppy kisses at first, just to end up sucking. Hard.
Eijirou's body jolted at the sudden change, moaning Katsuki's name, which just made him more eager. "Keep talking, keep saying my name, my love," Katsuki breathed against his skin. "I want to hear your thoughts as I mark your gorgeous skin. Everyone will have to accept you're mine." But Eijirou was too far gone, Katsuki knew that, and couldn't stop smirking as he kept kissing, sucking, and biting; all the while his hands worked to remove Eijirou's shoulder pieces to make him more comfortable—not that he would have noticed in the state he was now.
"You're glorious, I still can't believe I get to have you all to myself," he said, his mind clouded with the desire to mark the rest of his body as well.
And so he did.
He started with the shoulders, than his biceps—hell, he'd go to war (again) to be held in them every single second of his life—then his hands, where he kissed each finger, each knuckle, stopping, just for a minute, at a specific one. And he didn't say it out loud, but, hell, how he'd love to see a ring there. But no use getting stuck on impossible scenarios, so he just resumed his trail of sweet nothings murmured on his partner's slightly tanned skin. He'd never have enough of the color it took during the Summer—he could almost swear it was his favorite color; just after red, obviously.
"E-Eijirou…" His voice broke for a second as he made his way back to Eijirou's face. "Don't ever leave me, don't you dare leave me," he said just before their breaths became one again.
