Misidentification

Summary:

"What are you doing here still?"

You instinctively tense up and slowly look to behind you.

Oh fuck is tha-

"Well? Are you going to answer me, soldier?" The lieutenant of exorcists states more than asks you. She's standing in between you and the collapsed wall that reveals the outside world; the only real way out of this situation.

Wait, soldier?

Chapter 1: The Lieutenant?

Chapter Text

The silence stretches as you catch your breath and you can hear your heart beating in your ears.

Your heavey breathing can surley be heard, but no one is around, at least you hope.

As you take your time recovering you think about what had just happened.

An exorcist had just been murdered in front of you? But that's not possible is it?

You get out from under the bed you were hiding under in this broken ass building and dust off your wings.

Three angels had attacked Carmilla Carmine, the overload, you remember. And she had beheaded one of them?

You're not sure how that would be possible though, the exorcists were supposed to be invincible killing machines.

But you know what you saw and she had killed one. Then the other two angels fled and Carmine had come after you?

You know that you resemble an exorcist but really? You don't look that much like one, do you? You weren't even standing that close to where the killing had taken place.

You shake your head free of thoughts and sigh.

You're not-

"Oh, I was just.. looking for more sinners?" You reflexively lie, hoping she doesn't call your bluff.

"That was idiotic of you."

It was that easy for her? You're not that bad at lying, are you?

I do not care how 'new' you are to the army you cannot blatantly disobey Adam's command. He said it is time for us to leave so we leave now. Understand?"

Oh

"Um, yeah..?"

Does this mean you're safe for now then?

Her wings puff up slightly, "I know damn well you were trained better than that. You are to address me by lieutenant or ma'am. Now let us go, we will figure out an appropriate punishment for you once we get back to heaven." She bitterly grits out.

Oh, no, you are so fucked.

You're eyes scan anyway to escape while flying behind her, trying your best to keep up. You see none, anywhere you go she would easily be able to catch up… and you're not sure what she would do if you did try to escape.

You summarize what you know: The exorcist lieutenant has mistaken you for one of them and is now guiding you into heaven. Into almost certain death if anyone realizes.

Not exactly what you had planned today but okay.

You continue flying behind her until the two of you make it to the portal that only appears during exterminations.

It closes behind you.

Oh that's-

"About fucking time lute, must you insist on making sure there's no straggler exorcists every year." Adam, the exorcist leader, whines.

"Yes, I 'must'." She states plainly "and I found something… disturbing that you should know about."

"Oh yeah? And what's that, dangertits?"

"It is a matter that should be kept private." Lute gestures towards you.

"Yeah sure whatever, just meet me at my office if it's that important to you I guess." He says then flies off.

Lute watches him fly off then looks back to you, "head back to the headquarters, we will discuss your disciplinary action at a later time."

"Yes… ma'am." You say as she also flies off.

You have absolutely no idea where you are supposed to go.

Notes:

We are so back.

Uhh this chapter isn't as long as I was hoping it'd be but I'm still pretty happy with it.
