Summary
John Mactavish, or Johnny, as everyone called him, has a perfect life: goes to church, is the best on his rugby team, the most popular of his generation, volunteers at the city's animal shelter, and helps out at his neighborhood daycare center. He has good grades and a promising university career; he wants to study quantum chemistry or medicine, or even go into the military like his father did. He has his life figured out.
And well, Simon Riley is a different story: the weirdo of the school. It is rumored that he killed a guy, a faggot, as everyone at school calls him. He probably uses drugs and sells them. He has a long history that is sure to get him on the verge of being kicked out of school. He does not have good grades, nor does he like studying. When he graduates, he will disappear from the city, change his name, and enter the military as his boxing coach did. He has no hope for his future other than to die.
But these differences did not prevent them from starting a relationship. Johnny is the only good thing in Simon's life; Simon is the only bad thing in Johnny's life. But they love each other very much, maybe too much, so much so that they made a serious "mistake," as Johnny calls it.
