Summary
When Will's hearing finally returns, it's not Max he hears first.
It's Mike.
"Will!" Mike drops to his knees, all but shoving Max aside as he frantically looks Will over. "Are you–"
The second Mike's hands touch Will, he recoils. His prey instincts fire up again, identifying Mike as a danger.
Mike's aggression lingers in Will's mind. His fangs, his words…Even if they were in his defense, logic didn't cooperate with instinct. He feels like a small child again, hiding in his closet from people who wanted to hurt him. When he'd come home from school and catch a whiff of spice and fury, he had to hide as fast as he could before it could be turned his way.
"Will?" Mike says again, voice suddenly small. Will can smell the worry on him. "I'm–We're gonna get you home, okay?"
Will's eyes flick over to Max. Jane has appeared beside her. "I think you need to step back, Mike," Max says.
Mike fights a guy for feeling Will up in the club. Will's self-preservation instincts make him afraid to seek comfort from Mike.
Neither of them are happy about this.
